For those who brand this as a 'peaceful' protest: It seems as if the only opposition during this rally were the police, and they are not going to have started any form of violence or intimidation. The police aren't there as a representative of the government, they are normal people who have chosen a different career path to other people, and nothing else.
These protesters aren't fighting police for a cause, they do it out of boredom.
This protesting seems far from peaceful. It seems quite verbally agressive and intimidating. A peaceful protest should be peaceful in nature but a good portion of the protestors appear to be intentionally provoking/goading the police and when that doesn't work, physically pushing against them. The only place in this video where the policeman strikes a protestor is where he is literally pushed. The police seem completely professional at all other times.

I wouldn't want to be an officer- we love them when they catch a murderer or a thief, but we do harbor a hell of a grudge (sometimes justified, but sometimes not).
That being said, some officers will deliberately antagonize protestors. If any protesters react aggressively, it gives the police an excuse to shut the protest down. It's called bullbaiting, and unfortunately it's very effective if people aren't prepared for it.

We saw several arrests in which a couple of police walk up to a guy in the middle of the street, tap him on the shoulder and have a word, then quietly carry him away. I wouldn't want to be an officer- we love them when they catch a murderer or a thief, but we do harbor a hell of a grudge (sometimes justified, but sometimes not).
That being said, some officers will deliberately antagonize protestors. If any protesters react aggressively, it gives the police an excuse to shut the protest down. It's called bullbaiting, and unfortunately it's very effective if people aren't prepared for it.
I'd blame the politicians more, though. They give the orders.

The plan was to have the undercover cops start acting violently toward uniform police and others so the police would have an excuse to shut down the protest and smash some skulls in the process. So much for right of peaceful demonstration.

Unlike anywhere else in the world its very rare we see a policeman in the UK and even if we call them it takes 45mins to arrive.I remember ordering a pizza when I got phond it came quicker than the cops.Same with ambulances.I was there that day an the police tactically outwit evry1 with the positioning.and the anarcists ran to them and split everyone up. If a person is in the act of breaking criminal law, then a police man must act to restrain this man from doing any harm unto the people. My wife once asked her favorite fruit seller in the London market why she did not see him around for some weeks. He proudly explained he was in prison and he rather enjoyed it. I aggree that it is sad that the British government decided to serpress its people in order to please the U.S. I am almost positive if it was the other way around where it was U.S. citizens protesting the British we would have defended their rights to free speech. Is having 1200+ riot police a justifiable use of police resources and tax-payers money? For a few hundred peaceful protestors? For George Bush's protection? What about for the sake of some nice photos of Bush without any angry people to spoil them.

Possibly. If you're talking about the guy they snatch at the end though, he isn't doing anything wrong. We saw several arrests in which a couple of police walk up to a guy in the middle of the street, tap him on the shoulder and have a word, then quietly carry him away. Bit strange, and pretty sinister at the time.

I know one guy who was arrested,he was just released the next day with a caution. Got a couple of hits over the head with a truncheon in the protest though.

A proper chav doesn't work, busy as he is collecting his gyro and fathering a future generation of car thieves in council tower blocks across the land. So I don't think he can be called working class. While I have utter disdain for his type I wouldn't wish death on anyone.
