  • Holy moly!!!!! If they got second, who in the world got first?!???!?

  • I loved this. Athletic, synchronized, in time to the music. Spectacular moves. As for those who did not like the style, too bad. The Lindy Hop was innovative in its athleticism, its dependance at time on the strength of the women, its exuberance and its freeness. How absurd to now complain about not following traditional form. The moves in here are so hard and so easy to miss as can be confirmed by looking at some other contest videos.

  • @CaraJorgensen Sorry, but not. This is not a matter of opinion; it's a fact. This is not Lindy Hop. This is what's known as West Coast Swing with some air steps thrown in. It's also done to non-swinging Neo Swing music. This is not the kind of music Lindy Hop is danced to. Please go luck up actual Lindy Hop. Thanks.

  • I love the way they fit the routine perfectly into the idiosyncrasies of the music. The move at 1:52 is just one example. Back into the bounce just in time with the music. They pulled that off several times.

  • I think it was an awesome routine! As a freestyle dancer and circus performer I found this video extremely inspiring and very entertaining. So what if it isn't strictly a Lindy routine, you should take it on it's merits. If you can't... Methinks you doth protest too much! (unless of course, you have videos of yourself doing better that you'd like to post...?)

  • Fantastic!

  • This wasn't impressive - at least not in a Lindy sense. The aerials were great and well executed, but the dance itself.... eh. He was right on in a lot of spots as far as technicality, but I saw her footwork flub several times. She missed the actual count so many times I stopped counting. I understand it's a faster beat, but it's not so fast to miss the steps that make it a Lindy. This was so stiff and lacking the fluid motions that are signature of Lindy... I'm gonna have to give it a dislike.

  • This kind of feels like a Lindy-inspired cheerleader routine. It's impressive for sure, but it just doesn't feel like Lindy the dance

  • Nice bit of dance but hardly Lindy!

  • @deltacharlie152 Are you kidding me? 1st off, they aren't dancing in a "lindy" competition. Secondly, don't be such an elitist. Not everyone has to do it your way. That's such an arrogant statement.

  • @swingmutt Wow!! Sorry, mate. I never realised 7 simple words would get such a passionate response. Are you related to the dancers?

  • This sucks

  • If you like acrobatics max and annie from canada keep the old spirit of lindy hop with some amazing air. check them out

  • There is absolutely no passion in this routine.

  • If they were second, who was the first?

  • And you in the h*LL got first place

  • I could do a better routine after a long day at work and 10 beers. I wouldn't say they were stiff, just a little too erect. He sort of dances like Simon Selmon.

  • Amazing

  • i thought it was awesome....

  • I wouldn't really call this Lindy Hop. If you want to see Lindy at its best, you should really look up some of the Lonestar Championship videos or ULHS videos.

  • @davejoker I'd be stiff too, thinking about the next figure, especially with those moves. I do parkour, and I'd only be stiff for the other persons concern.

  • Nice r'n'r acrobatics... but Lindyhop??? You can see in their eyes that they are thinking about the next figure coming up! That's why it looks so stiff! Just be or live your routine and it will look much more relaxed!!!

  • @naturalpro look up Max and Annie, lindy. Look up ilhc, or lonestar championships, or goodnight sweetheart. The have many examples of top level Lindy Hop without a bunch of flash and trash.

  • Well, the dancers said they had fun doing it, which is good enough. I would love to see the Lindy improve, personally.

  • The routine is great, but how they performed was horrible, Lindy hop is supposed to be flowing, not stiff.

  • Incredible! So energetic! A little too showy for my taste but that's what a competition is for :)

  • you have got to be kidding me. this is not lindy hop!

  • wierd

  • i hate all of the outfits

  • Aint no funk in there bodies. i know a gymnast when i see one... A classic move with no groove!

  • gotta do this for school dance lesson wish me luck

  • Bunch of tricks (which were incredible) and not very expressive dancing.

  • @Kelseyjoy1148z....please, send me an example of a true Lindy hop. This was an outstanding routine. I am curious to see what your idea of a true Lindy hop is.

  • @naturalpro2003 type 'lindy hop dance' it should open with charleston meets lindy hop

  • @kalstonii....Will do! Thanks!! :)

  • @cheerchick....anytime, hon'. I know great dancing when I see it.

  • ok haters yall need 2 stop hatin' on them. yall r just probably jealous yall cant do any of that and quit makin' comments about THEIR OUTFITS they r just outfits for competition and in competitions the judges dont care about ur frickin' outfits they care about the way u portray the type of dance and stop tlkn' about the music.

  • I'm not even going to finish it. I'm only half way through. how stupid .

  • I feel like they are making fun of swing dancing....

Don't like it at all.... and the outfits? Really?

  • Awesome!

  • 2:15 whaaaat?? awesome!

  • That's not Lindy Hop!

  • This is actually crimby hopping ,found around the late 30s on the south side of chicago. Her loody do at 2:02 is slightly off ,not bad.

  • damn this aint lindy hop! they need to watch a lindy hop video from the 40s! there's no energy to this routine!

  • That wasn't Lindy Hop! To much hoppin', not enough Lindy. The very essence of the dance has been cheapened by throws and bad bad outfits - for real Lindy Hop you have to watch the old black and white footage.

  • Great Athlets but not really good swingers...orrible dresses; you can take away the music that they still dance the same moves...they are rock'n roll acrobatic dancers not lindy hoppers....

    Swing dance it's another thing!!!

  • oh and for the record i didnt post this particular video so i have no control over what people choose to name the video. and i hope that this is NOT the best lindyhop routine cause i personally like my clown routine better :). all i know is i had fun doing it and the process was long and painful but worth every second :)

  • basically its like competing in a salsa division with a tango routine. it took a while and we finally won that competition. and as far as aerials/acrobatics go, we always had less than most competitors. we never had more than 5 acrobatics sometimes 4 cause those are the rules in some competitions so we did the same for all competitions. in most lindy divisions you will find well over 5 aerials. the outfit was an experiment haha. id like to thank you all for the kind words keep on dancing.

  • just to clarify:

this routine was not intended to be a traditional routine or have a traditional outfit :).

look at the clown routine or hsj (traffic jam) if you like traditional. we love it all and as artists we have to expand and try new things. some people will like it and some wont. this was not a lindy competition hence the more westie outfits. we did go on to win that competition the following year and both the american lindy hop championships and worlds that year with this routine

  • This was horrible, technical, sure, but there's no feeling!

  • @canomia thats a fair point to be made, i saw the skills but theer was no passion behind the movements at all

  • Wow! They are beyond sensational...!!! And I, too, would like to know who took 1st place over them. This routine looks to me like a fusion of Lindy and West Coast Swing (dancing in a slot) using syncopations & styling from both of these fabulous dance genres. :-)

  • Kelseyjoy1148z.....please send me an example of what your idea a of traditional, tried, and true lindy hop is. I thought Yuval & Nathalie's routine was outstanding! Trying a quarter of those moves would break my neck! lol

  • @naturalpro2003

thank u at least somebody has enough courage to stand up for this video and not criticize it

  • super amazing! with standing ovation!

  • That took SECOND place!? GREAT moves!!

  • for all you critics?take time to appreciate the time, guts!and dedication these top performers put in to the work and routines, and they have the title of?world swing champions...get out there and take them on with your dreams routines, you woud freeze in sheer stage terror!these performers take it all in there stride.well done yuval and nat...

  • I am not too impressed. The aerials were not musical, the swing-outs were mediocre, at least from the lead side. The posture was strange, more Jive like than Savoy or Dean Collins style, and I am curious why they dressed like Westies?

All that being said, I would like to see them social dance, or dance in a strictly or J&J so I can gauge their dancing, and not the excessive use of aerials .

  • wow natalie gomes teaches my brother in 5th grade for free for this dance challenge o_0

  • @dragonfights676

wat school? she was my teacher too 44 the dance challenge

  • Fantastic

  • THIS IS AMAAAAAZING!!!

  • i wonder who came first if they came second! they were AMAZING!

  • I am awestruck. Without regard to style it is the most amazing performance I've ever seen. Like others, why second place? The timing and execution is flawless. Ditto for originality. Anything borrowed was re-styled to make it their own. At first I thought the title was arrogant, but "if it's true, it ain't braggin."

  • music did'nt go well with the dance and not enough classic lindy moves for me.

  • The style is a tad stiff for lindy hop but the routine was ridiculously clean for all the moves they were doing!

  • I think I'll wait until I can duplicate those aerials to criticize these people...

  • Comment removed

  • @DorkifiedAndLovely yes, because everyone should be able to do whatever it is they're criticizing. everyone should be able to direct movies before they can have an opinion of one. everyone should be an accomplished musician before they can discuss music. you're a fucking moron

  • @oyelad

He's got a point though. Anyone can criticize, it takes someone with balls to organize and pull off an amazing performance.

This routine did win the championship remember.

Of course everyone has a right to an opinion.

  • To be honest I didn't really like it at all...I wouldn't call it Lindy so much as rockabilly....their moves were too stiff...not loyal to the classic Lindy style at all, and the music was stupid, and I don't even know where to begin with the outfits. :(

  • agreed. after hearing amazing things about his aerials i decided to check him out and i'm not impressed. the whole routine was pretty lifeless and the song choice was god-awful

  • Seriously Yuval is a fantastic teacher, if you get the chance to learn from him you will not regret it!!!!!

  • @Kelseyjoy1148z i know right? but the original song by billie holiday is magnificent.

  • @Kelseyjoy1148z

oh shut up u probably cant get as nearly as close as to wat they're doing and u need 2 stop worrying about their outfits and look at how they work together in order to get all of those aerials and moves together and ur probably just jealous that u cant do ANY of that!!

  • @Kelseyjoy1148z pessimistic fuck. i thought it was a grand display of aerial prestige

  • @iiknowkungfoo....I totally agree with your take. This routine displayed tremendous skill, and precision.

  • @Kelseyjoy1148z....I found Nathalie Gomes to be looking very sexy in her outfit. This was an outstanding routine!! It looked very tough to master.

  • @Kelseyjoy1148z Got a full glass of haterade? Those moves were awesome. A little stiff but original and hard to pull off.

  • @Kelseyjoy1148z

Thats because it's not classic Lindy. It's a Lindy Showcase. I don't know but their swingouts are pretty smooth. I would like to see you post a video response of yours before you criticized. Also you better take a look at hellzapoppin the original Lindy and get enlighten.

  • greattt!!!!

  • holy crap. that was amazing

  • Those are the most insane aerials I've seen yet. But yeah, I agree that the dancing looks stiff. But you do have to keep in mind that this is a choreographed routine and they are at a competition. Perhaps at social dancing events their moves have more heart and soul.

  • That got 2nd place? What did first place do, shoot her out of a cannon?

  • Yeah, well it's not always about making crazy acrobatics - maybe the first place couple never lifted the girl off the floor... but extremely impressive acrobatics though - I've never seen anything like that i dancing - otherwise quite stiff dancing and I wouldn't exactly call that Lindy Hop - that's probably why they only got second.

  • Now that was AMAZING!!!!!

  • terrible swing outs, apart from aerials and super crazy dips and spins there is nothin special, but no body movement, no sole and power in the moves, no groove..

  • And your video is where?

  • great come-back, I loved it.....LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Sheesh making it look SOOO easy lol

  • Jesus, that is amazing.

  • I know the song is "Swing, Brother, Swing", but who is the artist? Is it Casey MacGill & The Spirits of Rhythm? I want to know because I love it. The dancing for it is great. Amazing belt flip!

  • Yep, it's Casey MacGill from the album Jump. They've edited it for the routine however.

  • @zenin4711 Thank You!

  • fuck that was good

  • wow! j'aime beaucoup l'accro qui tourne!! :)

  • é-nor-m'...

  • EXCELLENT !!!

  • wow im curious who beat that routine...
