(I'm an American teacher and I want to share it with my students in the proper Scots dialect, but it's really hard to find a recited version (it's all the song, which is lovely, too, but makes the poem seem kind of melancholy, when it could be seen as just a happy poem about lifelong companionship and love)
I'll be playing this for my students, Kieran, so thanks for the reading and the lovely comments.
I enjoyed that mate! Great reading. It is one of the most powerful peoms ever written and shows that it is natural for man to care for innocents that he affects
Thanks for reading it aloud in the dialect. I'm also an English teacher and cannot do Burns justice. I agree, he IS one of the greatest poets in English.
Hi, I'm an American teacher, and of course I want my students to hear the Scottish dialect with Burns' poetry since that was his reasoning for writing in the dialect, but I'm a Native American woman from Oklahoma, so I don't have the accent. I am going to show this video to my class on Monday and I was hoping that maybe you would recite "To a Louse". It's a funny poem and it's in our book. Love the video. Thank you.
I would be honoured if you would show this to pupils as an example of Burns, thanks for telling me that's what you plan to do.
I do have "to a louse" in my book though I've misplaced it currently, if I get time I will record it for you guys.
I dunno if you noticed but I do have another 2 Burns poems videos, "Scots wha hae" and "my luve is like a red red rose" both great examples of his gentle and aggresive sides
Oh geez I couldn't yet I would hate to embarrass myself infront of you sir :). I'll certainly give it a try when i get a wee bit better at it. Give it a month or two and I will come out of hiding and make a video for you. (your other videos are equally as wonderful as this)

Wow that was an awesome comment to wake up to this morning. I'm glad that people are stumbling across my videos and enjoy them. I've got one more Scottish poem to do at some point and then it's back to random videos. Not made any yourself yet? I want to hear some Gaelic
Excellent! Could you read "John Anderson My Jo"?

Kiki, here is my request for Scots Wha Hae. Its violent sounding, so put some fucking effort in to it. Your scottish accent is fake.

Whoa, I didn't know this guys existed, so thanks for posting this! That's really cool that his poem was inspiration for the book.
And a translation would also be sweet...like you said, for us Americans. Haha.
Love the accent of course, tehe.
AND I agree with the other comment, I loved your old videos too!

Haha! Guess you've got me by the balls there. Well I'll just have to make more videos. How about a public transport etiquette video?
