  • 5*****!

  • How beautiful

  • Great video, but let's remember that this magnificent class of loco was designed by the North British Locomotive Company in Scotland. And that only some of them were sub-contracted to Henschel for building.

  • Nice video , gustavo Argentina

  • Dear Barend,

I have seen some big steam engines in Spain, but I assure you that your South African trains are as big as any in every respect. I have put a link to this video from my site.

Please keep me posted as to your plans to delight us with more of these impressive videos.

    Yours cordially,

    Juan Manuel Grijalvo

  • Now that's what I call narrow gauge! More please!

  • Have to agree with prentonpimp. Seriously heavy metal on the move. Very clean exhaust. Is this a preserved loco?

Thank you for posting, Hugh the Railmon

  • Yes this loco was recently repaired and put back into service. Anther 3 25NC's has been secured from the Warrenton dump for Rovos to be restored for mainline passenger use.

    Greetings, Barend.

  • Is this the same German 'Henschel' which built WWII tanks, planes and missles?

  • Yes it is Henschel & Sohn, Kassel, Germany.

  • Beautiful!
