  • what bit do you use?

  • Great job !!!! Beautiful horse :)

  • i have just recently got an ex racehorse on loan with a friend.. he is only a baby (3 1/2 yrs old) but already he seems like a 13 yr old. he does have 'race horse head' as we have only just started work but he is the kindest most loving horse ever. could i just ask, how long did it take you to school your horse fully? thanks xx

  • I love this!! It is so amazing how much you have transformed your horse. Your horse went from depressed and underweight to full of life and a good size. You are an inspiration to the horse world xxxx

  • Great job!

  • love this! always love a good ottb story! I have one myself that I got straight off the track in June, he's five and learning to be an eventer so much fun looking back especially since hes going to his first show in a few weeks!

  • Beautiful horse.

  • Beautiful!

  • Wow this video almost made me cry. you made such an impact on that horse's life and he/she will thank you for a life time and many more!!!

  • Wow you got him going beautifully! What a gorgeous horse. How did you teach him to relax and round up so well? I'm inspired by the work with you did with this horse.

  • Amazing. That's all I can say.

Pat the horse from me. ;)

  • this music is from a Man From Snowy River right? love that movie! your horse is pretty!

  • excellent example of what proper feeding and training can do! look at the transformation of that topline...amazing, considering the former ewe neck.

  • Great job! He looks amazing.

  • Awesome video!! How long did it take you to get from Then and Now? I've got a twelve year old Thoroughbred mare I'm retraining; this video was really inspiring!

  • Lovely horse very well done!!

, reminds me of my boy when i got him, 3yo stright of the track, underweight and very stressed, with in 6month he had gained weight, perfect gent and grew another 3inches due to alowing him time to chill, eat, play and go on the odd hack with his friends, after 2years of chilling and having fun (there was no rush with him) hes now in full dressage training and at novice level and jumping 3ft6 with ease :D

Never underestimte a racehorse as a riding horse!!!

  • very beautiful boy. My grey TB mare came off the track..we have been working together for three years now and she is now a childrens horse (:

  • you have done a fantstic job WELL DONE i took the easy way out my x racer magic i got him from the thouroughbred rehabilitation centre and was already parshaly retraied but God its hard work to re train a racehorse because everythings the opposit

    pull doesnt mean go

cant just walk off when im getting on

have to go on the bit

cant just gallop off when feet hit grass

but i you have done a fantastic job and i hope my magic is as good as your horse WELL DONE

  • @mehavebesthorse My TBx mare "Short Lesson" was an appendix mare bred for Quarter Horse racing, nicknamed "Magic". I loved her dearly and she was gorgeous; big, black with a huge white star and one white sock. Once she trusted me and got used to me, she was the best horse I ever owned. She'd do anything I wanted, jump, cut a cow, go straight up a mountain for 7 miles and trot all the way home. She let my babies ride her and I never worried. She passed away at 27-I'll never find another like her!

  • @canbur0 aww im sorry for your loss she souded a brilliant horse x

  • @mehavebesthorse Thank you! That is a great word for my Magic "brilliant". That's what she was, exactly! I wish I could see your Magic, you are going to be so pleased with all the progress you make!

  • @mehavebesthorse Thank you! That is a great word for my Magic "brilliant". That's what she was, exactly! I wish I could see your Magic, you are going to be so pleased with all the progress you make! I love this video! It shows what hard work, dedication, good nutrition and lots of love will accomplish. Good job, happyhorse011!

  • @canbur0 im already proud of him i know my magic will never be like yourse hes just not the showing type haha but he is coming on realy well with his jumping and lots of love is definitely the key to sucsses x

  • So beautiful to see! My boy looked just like yours when I was given him. We're 2 years on and we have our first show in a month (argh!). It's a very long and slow process to get it right but so worth it when you give them the home they always deserved. I take my hat off to you and every other one of us who has managed to change the life of an ex racer. For anyone looking to do it, I would highly recommend some form of natural horsemanship to help them focus on the retraining. Karma to you! :)

  • wow , You have done such an amazing job with him :) congrats!! im thinking of getting an OTT, and everyone has kept telling me its not worth it and tb's are crazy...but this just shows that it can be done! you have such an amazing bond. well done :)

    p.s love the music!

  • I love that song you have playing with your video. My dad and I used to always watch The Man from Snowy River. In fact we had horses as kids and used to show. I learned how to play that song on the piano as well when I was a kid because I loved it so much. The video was beautiful to watch.

  • @asossei I too loved The Man From Snowy River as a kid! I'll still put the movie on from time to time - although it seems so much cornier these days LOL! Still love it though ;-) And just like you, I also learned to play both Jessica's Theme and the main theme on the piano!! Thank you for the comment :-)

  • Have to say he actually looks ok condition wise from the pictures at the beginning, I've seen an awful lot worse at flapping tracks... looks like you're doing well with him schooling wise, hows he going now?

  • This is fantastic. I got my girl off the track too, but she was left in a paddock and came to me in extremely poor condition too.

We are working at it and she still has her Race Horse head moments (Which i'm sure you remember) but it is lovely to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel!!

  • @TheTalinaChristensen Thanks for the comment. Haha yes, I remember those racehorse head moments! Best of luck with your girl!

  • Wow! I bet he is glad to have a home with you! What a beautiful horse now!

I have just bought a race horse too, bred by Diktat and Upping the Tempo. LIke you I have a lot of work to do, but this is showing me it can be done!!

  • @julesvtr - Thank you! All the best with your new TB - I'm sure you'll have many highs and lows, and as much fun as I have. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing their improvement :-)

  • @julesvtr Randomer, but just thought i'd say i've ridden a number of Diktat babies & they've all been very good natured, particularly the fillies :) Nice choice!
