  • bravo...Muse and Radiohead the best of the last 20years!ciao greetings from Italy!

  • Really good except for the horrible half cadence at the end, leaving me waiting for another chord to finish it off or something. Now I have to listen to paranoid android to finish it off. Not that that's a bad thing

  • Muy buen trabajo amigo! en especial paranoid android!

  • I did not hear any PARANOID ABDROID in there!!!

  • @HeXtacy1337 After he does the arpeggios, he starts with 'Rain down' bit in Paranoid Android.

  • it seems to me that muse and radiohead are oppisites in style which is why the fans of the bands appear to hate eachother

  • I really wonder what Muse thinks. They must see how on virtually every radiohead-related post, people consistently express, basically, that compared to radiohead, Muse isn't music. I agree but I feel bad for Muse. They're still super fun to listen to. I wonder if they agree, though. The first time I heard Muse I thought "nice instrumentation/production, but has the feel of a Disney song".

  • @simiamens

It's funny you mention 'disney song'. Did you know Radiohead actually made a disney-inspired song called Motion Picture Soundtrack? It sounds like any disney feature track except with simpler instrumentation and whiny monotone vocals.

  • @winrar88 Forgive me for all my replies. I didn't know it was disney-inspired, but I believe it. To me what distinguishes it from "disney" in the sense I was so disparagingly applying to Muse is that (and again I submit that this is just a POSSIBLE feel to get out of it) there's an insanity to the positivity/closure of the piece. If there IS an emotional resolution-feel at the bottom of M.P.S., it's a resolution to much deeper issues than what any Disney character (except maybe Bambi?) ever had.

  • @simiamens

No problem, you're forgiven. I know you Radiohead fans can be extremely zealous about your band(and music sometimes). And you think Radiohead is great and all, but that's no reason to put down Disney. Come on man, that's not cool. Have you seen Lion King, Mulan, Aladdin, etc.. Those are some good movies with really "deep" well orchestrated music. They're much better than Bambi, trust me.

  • @winrar88 what the HELL are you guys arguing about? radiohead > muse, disney is great and has nothing to do with this. end of story.

  • @winrar88 First, I totally agree and love those movies (they're just less existentially engaging to me than radiohead can be - not a bad thing). Also, I should have mentioned it's pretty easy to see Radiohead as pretentious; I'm making progress on the 'boring and dull'. And fo sho, first time I listened to Kid A it was nonsense. All that said, I recommend that if you ever get really deeply depressed, remember radiohead and our zealotry will make more sense. Thanks for the cordial convo.

  • I am tired of this bs, why the fk does everyone insist on comparing different musical groups, and claiming one is better than the other, there will never be a musical group that is liked by all, look at bieber, in my opinion, and im sure most people here, she is worse than crap, but she has some of the most viewed ytube vids and billions of fans...Doesn't make sense does it? So shut the hell up and stop bashing other bands too you they might suck to sum1 else they could be the greatest band..

  • I suprised myself beginning to sing along the songs :D

  • Well done my friend. Well done indeed.

  • awesome. both of those are in my top favorite songs.

  • @maiasmoine i'm american, douche

  • @farfle10 I didn't said i hate YOU, i said i hate irish people :) nice cover.

  • @farfle10 i hate when someone say im american., T_T, america is a continent, no a country, so im from peru and im american too, the same, mexicans, canada, chile, argentina, -.-!! u are from usa but u arent the only from america, T_T, stop to say im american when u live in usa T_T.

  • Muy, muy, muy bueno!!

  • greeeaaaattttttttttttt!!!!! genious at work this lad is....

  • If you played Muse songs slowly on the piano, they still wouldn't match the conceptual value, let alone the lyrics, of Radiohead. If you slowed down Hysteria, it wouldn't sound that great and would come off as pretentious.

  • @ReallyIDontBelieveIt no. Space Dementia. Micro Cuts. Blackout. Ruled By Secrecy. Hoodoo. slow and on piano. try it and tell me theyre not beautiful.

  • @ReallyIDontBelieveIt

    .

Using buzz words like "conceptual value" does not make you sound intelligent; nor does misusing actually meaningful descriptors such as 'pretentious'

    .

If you really wanted to lambaste Muse for something pretentious you'd be targeting songs on their newest album. That would be much more indefensible for Muse fans like myself. Based on your qualms I'd say you simply feel vicariously threatened for Radiohead, which is silly.

  • @Joe22c i'm pretty sure it's actually really easy to 'lambaste' muse for being pretentious based off something like space dementia or butterflies and hurricanes

  • @farfle10

I see, so when Muse plays more traditional rock tunes, they're unoriginal and trite. When they do something more technically impressive and artistically unorthodox it's pretentious. I suppose the wierdass shit Radiohead did (ie. Kid A) wasn't pretentious though.

  • @Joe22c you cannot generalize though. you have to consider the delivery and context of each song, in which many people agree that B&H sounds way too big for its own good and that the songs on Kid A are wholly genuine and original. i don't think you really understand the concept of music being bad because it is overwrought or way too bombastic for its own good. and just letting you know, a lot of people would agree about that

  • @farfle10 the point is that i'm not an 'irish person' like the nationalist asshead implied

  • @farfle10

There's very little originality to be found in Kid A. In fact, that album is derivative almost to the point of plagiarism. Try listening to some Autechre, Eno, Aphex Twin, etc..

  • @winrar88 yeah, in the instrumentation, very little original. But in the FEEL, winrar. Radiohead can express such immense subtlety and vulnerability and honesty. I do like the others you mentioned, but in terms of what they actually end up expressing ... 'Originality' don't matta.

  • @simiamens

Well that's entirely subjective. Not everyone can discern the same "FEEL" for a piece of music. What some might find as subtle, vulnerable, and honest can be seen as dull, boring, and pretentious by other people.

  • @winrar88 Sweet, a discussion. I completely agree with that assertion, winrar. I'm actually in the middle of a serious project to learn to experience radiohead as dull, boring, and pretentious (an ex-girlfriend can ONLY experience them that way, and I want to be able to, too). What I meant to put out there was just that there IS a deeper feel to experience in radiohead. Which I think would then not be subjective at all.

  • @simiamens

Good luck with your project, buddy. I guess Radiohead's music just really resonates with you, so it's hard for you to ever conceive it as being "boring, dull, AND pretentious". Unfortunately that's not the case with most people who listen to them. Even you should admit that some can have a difficult time just getting "INTO" their music. Many Radiohead fans tell me that it takes them repeated listens to even begin to enjoy some of their songs. That sounds like a chore to me.

  • @winrar88 P. S. Maybe this claim has to be accompanied by totally distorted claims about my ability to experience (close to) the deepest "feel" in radiohead and in Muse. All I can say is I love both bands, and I get a lot more out of radiohead, unless what I want is pure glorious but slightly saccharine rock-feel and excellent instrumentation, which Muse does better, in my opinion.

  • this video sucks

  • lol?

  • shit i love you! im obsessed with radiohead and i like muse but for someone who prefers one and say that about the other is very open minded and fair well done :)

  • well its true... muse lyrics are gerenally very standard.. (they have their gems though) but radiohead g0es straight to the point each time and their music complexity is greater... muse still makes me shiver every time :)... i recommend you to listen to muses fury :D

  • excellent job

  • Radiohead and Muse are about as similar as a five-star restaurant and a fast-food drive through.

  • okay I am old so I am thinking of radioheads early stuff.

  • and my reply to you still applies and is still valid.

  • Early "stuff" or newer "stuff", it doesn't matter. Radiohead will always be on a different level. It's ridiculous to even compare them. Muse play children's music.

  • @theduke171184 : I know everyone has an opinion, but could you take the radiohead cock out of your mouth for a second so you can think straight? I have seen both radiohead and muse live..and personally I think muse is just as good (probably better). Give me one good reason why radiohead is somehow on a different level? Isn't all subjective really?

  • There's a reason why classical and jazz musicians cover Radiohead and not Muse. There's a reason why books and theses are written about the art of Radiohead and not Muse. There's a reason why musicology students draw parallels between Beethoven and Radiohead, not Muse. There are many good reasons why Radiohead is on a different level: the lyrics, the musicality, the concepts, the artwork, the songwriting, the aesthetics, the instrumentation, the artistic expression...just a few of them.

  • But in the end it's all subjective, of course. Just as figuring out which has more artistic value, a 4 year old's finger painting or a Picasso. Very subjective indeed, yet a very clear choice to anyone who understands anything about art.

  • if you think about it... a 4 year old finger painting SHOULD be as valuable as a Picasso.. if not greater

  • @Bitterpill

    nicely said...

  • @BitterrPill I'm just a new fan to radiohead and a muse fan aswell. and i keep hearing about these parallels between beethoven and radiohead...I've googled it and stuff and can not find any papers or articles written on it other than youtube comments. So if you have any info i would like to read it. I'm just trying to find out info on this, not trying to degrade your comment; just thought that was worth mentioning.

  • Being better live doesn't affect the quality of music a band produces. Radiohead produces much larger concepts and emotions through their music than Muse has. They're my two favorite bands, but I just like Radiohead more because it's more meaningful.

  • its stupid to compare muse to a fast food drive through... you cant deny muses music quality just because you dont like their style... if radiohead played muse songs in a slow mood and in all piano im pretty sure you would love them

  • absolutely not, and i'm pretty sure you're missing something if you're boiling radiohead's music down to "slow muse songs on piano," especially when Muse even uses more piano...

  • i know that ... im just pissed at all the other radiohead fans and cant find a way to proove muses quality in music... i own every rh and muse albums

  • @rukus24 with MUSE being the 5-star restaurant!

  • @rukus24 which the 5 star and which is the drive thru?

  • @laurenkoehnvideos

Respectively, Radiohead is the 5-star and Muse is the drive-thru.

    Cheers.

  • @rukus24

Nah, Radiohead is more like some cheap buffet. They do a little bit of everything, but in a mediocre manner. I see them as kind of a "jack-of-all-trades" type of band.

  • @laurenkoehnvideos it's stupid to compare these two. they're so different. but if they had to be compared, muse is the teenagers answer to radiohead but with ideas they are able to comprehend...

  • @InterstellarBuuurst

It seems to me Radiohead are more aimed at a teenage mentality. Alot of radiohead's lyrics deal with sappy, angsty, introspective themes that appeal to emotional teenagers. Not to mention Thom Yorke appears to have the temperament of a 13 year old girl. Just check out some of his interviews, he acts like a petulant child. It's pathetic really.

  • @rukus24 and Muse is the five-star restaurant, right?

  • @rukus24 And who's who in that little scenario?

  • yeah they do go well actually that was a good spot

  • awesome! I love it, you played my favorite Radiohead song very well, that prove that many melodies can reach a higher level on a piano, for the second time, I love it!

  • Do have the sheet music for Bliss? Or could you write it out? I'd be really interested to learn it :)

  • Great covers! My favorite bands in one cover :-)

  • Your hands move incredibly fast in this. Well done!

  • Compared to other stuff you've done, how hard is that to play?

  • Bliss was really hard to play well actually because it's all those flowing chords and you have to stay in time (as opposed to the Butterflies and Hurricanes solo). There's also some tricky chords to play up and down like that (B flat minor ugh). The Paranoid Android part is easy, just playing the chords to the "rain down" part.

  • i really liked that - makes me imagine how both bands would have been received during the renaissance, and what we will think of them centuries down the track... epic

  • AWESOME YET AGAIN OMG MAN!!! : ] : ]
