The Shah was ashamed of thoes who betrayed Iran like the Qajars but very proud of his country. The celebration of 2500 yrs of Persian Empire in 71 was all about persian pride. The Shah was not cruel when he twice pardoned his would be assasines. AntiShah propoganda had served it's porpuse in 1979 & had its sell by date. People of Iran now think very different.

Fraizer57: the monarchy has no monetary control over the british population unlike the shah did.under the shah the finest carpets were woven using children 4-7 yrs old. this was part of my BA. beleive me i do like some iranians , those who dont have a colour issue and those who embrace their pre islamic & islamic history. what some forget how perisa influenced central asia,turkey and mughal india in arts ,architecture and language..

Also perian islamic history has not such a great arab influence as some might think. under the persians court life was far more sophisticated than any other arab court. the Taj Mahal was biult for nur jehan who was the daughter of the persian embassador to indai's daughter.we still have persain as a registered language of pakistan. even iranians think im iranian just cos im light skinned and have honey hair and blue eyes which was a shock to me as i see myself typical of the area i come from!
