I have a question ..i am Nigerian so i am not really familiar with Madhubala like that but i have read a lot of articles and comments about her and when of the article states that Dilip kumar didn't really love her that he was just playing games with her. Is this true or not n if it not i was wondering why he would ask her that in order for them to get married she had to leave her family. I am confused can someone shed some light on this pleaseee

And the ones that speak urdu are most likely from the pakistan region (that used to be part of Afghanistan before the british partition of 1947 that broke Afghanistan and India apart and created the "country" Pakistan)

She possessed feminine aura ala Deborah Kerr, youthful spontaneity ala Vivien Leigh, was sensuous ala Hedy Lamarr & could convey melodrama ala Magnani. One cannot discuss any of these legends without mentioning Madhubala. For me, she exuded far too much intelligence to be likened to Monroe. Where people get this rubish from? she was Indian and Indians do not go out side India for burrying their loved ones. My dad even with stroke at 86 somehow managed to request to be burried in his home town. But Madhubalas grandparents were direct migrants from Afghanistan, therefore she was full blooded Afghan Pashtun that was raised in India. The refugees are those Afghans who have come to India after the Soviet Invasion. ppl from NWFP and Afghanistan used to migrate to India prior to 1947 and have been assimilated henceforth. she was one of those Pathans. Madhubala was born in Delhi tho. on February 14, 1933. and Indian Pathans dont like to be Indians? tell that to any Indian Pathan and then you can hear their replies.

Yes, but most of them are Afghan immigrants after the Soviets and Taliban invasions. And the ones that speak urdu are most likely from the pakistan region (that used to be part of Afghanistan before the british partition of 1947 that broke Afghanistan and India apart and created the "country" Pakistan)

Those mountains name translates to Hindu killers, referring to the current day pakistanis and indians that tried to invade afghanistan, and died, in those harsh mountains, the hindu kush mountains protected us from hindu invasion, thats why it has the name "hindu kush". Its true she did have a scandalous life,she was exploited at hands of director(due to her greedy father).
But before Dilip Kumar her 1st love was K.Asif,who later cast her in Mahal.They met on the sets of movie,(i cant recollect at moment),it co-starred suraiyya.
Her grave is mumbai not lahore,which is openly frequented by Dilip saab till date.He is seen offering flowers n prayers along her graveside n his other relatives publicly.

Madhubala was not only beautiful & divinely gifted, but as a performer very syncretic. She possessed feminine aura ala Deborah Kerr, youthful spontaneity ala Vivien Leigh, was sensuous ala Hedy Lamarr & could convey melodrama ala Magnani. One cannot discuss any of these legends without mentioning Madhubala. For me, she exuded far too much intelligence to be likened to Monroe. Though Dilip may not admit it, he could not have loved so divine a lady & forgotten her. It is a superb post. Thank you.

I was about 12 years old when I saw the morning newspaper, the top story that day was the death of Madhubala. On the front page of every paper a full size photo of Madhubala with fetters on her limbs
( Mughale Azam Scene)was published. One paper wrote ' Madhu ne sare bandhan tod diye'. I remember till today that every student in my school was sad that day.

A very nice short film made paying tribute to the unmatched beauty of Indian screen, and also a great actress- a fact not much appreciated by many! One needs to watch all the sweet as well as tragic expressions she gives wonderfully well--and so naturally! True, there will never be another Madhubala! The types of actresses that we have are busy getting rich at the cost of exhibiting their bodies, who have more sexual overtures than acting talents;in case of Madhu one is just watching her face!

Madhubala died on February 23rd, 1969, within days of her 36th birthday. She was buried at Santacruz Burial Ground in bombay (now Mumbai) by her family and husband Kishore Kumar.

I agree, there are better books written about her life. I've read exerpts of Mohan Deep's book and it just seems...trashy. Plus, he pretty much called Meena Kumari a nympho when he wrote about her. I feel like if an author does not respect the figures he writes about his writing is no good. I also don't believe all his stories about her many affairs.
