I'm a Scarlatti purist and really prefer the harpsichord for them but if they are to be played on the piano, they are no better than this. Phenomenal articulation and precision
As to the Mozart transcription at the end..... just wow!
Felicitaciones. brillante, perfecta, su talento le permite interpretar con gran seguridad abordando música de grandes maestros del pasado, con su estilo personal muy agradable que embellece escucharla, mi reconocimiento Juan 90355
@PhilippeLoTheEternal I must confess to not having heard any of Marcelle Meyer's performances before. I decided to look her up and subsequently discovered some Scarlatti performances on Y.T. No doubt a very stylish and fluent performer, however I still prefer Yuja Wang in Scarlatti with her ultra clean articulation and perfectly proportioned tone control.
Incidentally I could have done without the following vulgar and flashy Mozart arrangement despite Wang's outstanding virtuosity.
@pila406 Not agree at all. Two good pianists, indeed but not two masters. In my opinion, there is no real musical mater to make comparison between Schiff + Pogorelich and Marcelle Meyer, Michelangeli, Horowitz a Carlo Zecchi Scarlatti's performings. The two first mentioned do not have the same level of technique, musicality and overall Syle hability.
As far as I know, the piano techniques used in Volodos' arrangement weren't NEARLY developed at the time Mozart lived... whether he could've learned them given the ideas, is another question.
Actually, he probably could've, because lots of pianists today can as well :D
I loved the second Scarlatti Sonata she played. Mesmerized by the consistency of her repeated notes (4:15).. she manages to evoke such a beautiful sound from the piano!
Never seen such a perfect and amathing performance on a piano before!!!! had to watch this video already a lot of times cause it just is so wonderful!
@utubuser10 Who cares what Horror-witz has to say. Horowitz sucked compared to her. He was a distorter with a sloppy technique and little musicianship. She plays entire circles around him. Just fact the facts. Horowitz was not as respected as you might think during his time. He was known as a distorter of the composer's intentions and he was horribly sloppy. Many pianists play better than him.
@organboi i agree that horowitz was a master of distortion, but he was undeniably also a master of color and technique. that yuja wang chooses to play many things closely associated with the great horowitz is no coincidence. she has more than once referred to him as a pianist she looked up to. you need to do your homework and hone your skills of assesment, never mind the written word -- "just fact the facts" -- whatever...be clear that yuja wang is, i believe one of the greatest pianists alive.
Agility is incredible....technically spectacular.

Agreed, wonder if she plays harpsichord? Seems her style would combine beautifully with that instrument.

She's born to play Scarlatti, best interpretations of these gems since the days of Horowitz.

@meredith218461 She is really gifted, indeed but do not forget the unstoppable Marcelle Meyer! :)

Though its all amazing one thing that amazes me about Miss Wang's playing is the balance she obtains between RH and LH.
Its always clear precise and not blurred with excessive pedal.

The flub at 7:28 kinda ruins the Rondo for me. It is so glaring. I think Yuja Wang's other performances of Mozart/Volodos on YouTube are superior.

here's the deal.. composers are different, and performers are different.
Yuja is a performer. So, to answer the question shortly :- its unlikelly that Mozart could have played as good as her.
Yuja is an exceptional performer.. But what is she performing ?? MOZART !

Mozart was such a great composer but I wonder if he could play better than Yuja...
