This game looks like it is going to be amazing. I laugh at fanboys who get upset over this game. The Playstation 3 can play any XBox360 game. The XBox360 can play any Playstation 3 game. The only difference is that on the PS3 it would be on one blu ray disc whereas it might be on a 2-3 discs for the 360 version. Big deal. If you look at the system architecture for both systems, you can use more memory at any given time on the 360. Final Fantasy XIII will be amazing, period.

I must be crazy, but looking at the gameplay I'm not very impressed. The "look" is fine, but the motions and physics seem to be no better than games that were out 5 years ago. They just added a lot of shading and colors (and annoying over-the-action gameplay data). Oh well, I guess it's what most in the genre seem to prefer.

Blame Microsoft for them having (bribed) to make them similar. You can prefer the 360 if you like, but why make them even? A lot of multi plats were looking better on the 360 back when the PS3 was harder to program for.

They couldn replicate the original 2006 trailer because they built the data on a superior PC using Crystal Tools and the PS3 has a small amount of RAM (only 256) so it can't load all that data so they had to downgrade a few things...

Piece of shit couldn't even run Killzone 2, how the fuck can it possibly run this, Uncharted 2, God of War 3, or the countless others exclusives coming to the PS3. And lets say Killzone could be run on the 360, take a look at Uncharted 2. Face it, the 360 reached its limit with Gears 2. The PS3 will get better and better looking games for years to come.

couple of observations, that release date is the japan only date right? I think they need more time to bring it over to the U.S. for localization/translation and possibly to clean up the mouth movements (I always hated seeing the characters mouth japanese syllables under the english dub/subs

The graphics look great, it'll be nice to finally have a pro RPG hit the ps3. whenever that happens in the U.S. anyway.

I think there is too much whining on the dramatic tone, this was clearly more of a story trailer then anything else. Its appealing to the fans who play the game for the indepth character's as opposed to just the fighting and level-upping. How many other Companies do you know release a 7minute trailer almost completely on JUST story based content. Its a trailer showing the depth and visual eye candy of SE's next FF release. its more then just an RPG, its a gripping tale.

I don't see why people are not liking this game. It looks awesome. Don't judge the random emotional scene as not built up it is a trailer and they are just showing highlights. In my opinion the game looks engaging.

That said... I'm not feeling much interest in this game. Between this and the other trailers, it looks like it's trying TOO HARD to be serious, and is laying it on too thick. And this from me who practically MARINATES in melodrama! That's pretty bad.

No non-humans? No comic relief characters? Protect-the-little-girl storyline? I love FF, but this is looking meh so far

I think they are just trying to give you a taste for the visuals in the game and they just happen to be in very dramatic moments.

The story seems to go a little deeper than the "protect-the-little-girl storyline", but I get what you mean and I agree they could do better.

Honestly, I wish there was more story transparency. Someone who has never read anything about the game will have trouble keeping up with what exactly is going on.

I guess they figure that by only hinting and key-wording about the plot, it builds mystery, though mostly it just plain confuses.

I'd hafta do a big analysis of Japanese culture, but long story short, having a kiss right in the trailer is almost an insulting in-your-face about the characters' bond, so they don't even get to develop this in the game itself. They're over-exposing the characters way too early, and expecting sympathy for them without them first earning it with their stories.

It's desperate, as if they don't think the game can carry itself without hyping it to death first. That's what makes me iffy about its possible quality. And that's not fair to the game.

Maybe it'll be extremely awesome. But it's like they are going in as underdogs, thus are trying WAY to hard to present a case for it.

I feel bad for the game just because of how it's being presented so desperately. They should have more faith in their own creation and let it build its own mystery.

as serious as this seems to be, i feel like i'm looking forward to this storyline much more than i did with ff12. considering the pressures of s-e having to make a profit on this game, i wouldn't be surprised if they tried to make this one catered to a broader audience (whether it be through gameplay changes or easing the traditional daunting length of an ff game in some way). at the very least, i hope this story is better and more well paced than ff12's.

Its only a trailer, so dont use it to judge the real game. From the FFs ive played so far, the non-humans act like humans so to me, that doesnt really matter. I think the comic relief characters is the black guy with the bird in his hair, but this trailer shows the serious side of FF so of course there is no comedy. Personally, I think the story revolves around attaining the freedom and equality of l'cie and they use the "lets-fulfill-the-little-girl'­s-dream" as their will to fight on
