I never try lift like the guy does in his first example.
i hate it when people do things the wrong way and pretend it's the "proper" way to do something just so they can flog their useless crap to the masses.
The PROPER way to fix a ball mark using a "normal" tool (or even a tee) is simple and better:
1. Push the tool into the turf at a 90° angle to the ground.
2. Instead of trying to lift the centre of the ball mark, gently push the top of your tool TOWARD THE CENTRE of the ball mark. You're trying to fill the hole with the loosened edge material.
3. Repeat all the way around the ball mark.
4. Tamp down firmly with your foot or club heel.
5. Spend your money on balls and beer, not gimmicks!
This is close to fraudulent. He uses the traditional tool in the wrong way, pushing up from underneath the mark: "...and with this lifting motion...", he says, but you're not meant to use a lifting motion, you're meant to use a pushing motion...like the one he uses with the tool they're trying to sell!
He can't use a divot tool properly do not lift the grass as it dies,

That was almost funny, sure the greenfix thing worked, but he doesn't even use the traditional tool correctly.

he destroys the green with the regular tool on purpose

Why didn't he just use a shovel to demonstrate how bad the standard tool!?
brucewestmk2 3 years ago 2
couldn't one just use a standard tool and choke down on the tongs and use the thumb and index finger to push?
