Beautiful. Brava! I have not heard a ton of Barbara's singing, but the voice is stunningly beautiful. I am a Leontyne Price fanatic, but this is gorgeous.
HELLO....this is Barbara Hendricks....she is one of the few sopranos who doesnt sound like everybody else so u have to see her to know she is the singer...her voice is uniquely melodious and earthy and full of feeling and sensuality...and it remains soulful and real..it resonates
@anaconuto...I'm sorry, but obviously you don't really know Ms. Hendricks' voice. The opening phrase identifies her so completely it couldn't possibly be anybody else! Glorious voice, wonderful singing....
@anasconuto Of course it's Barbara Hendricks. Very few sopranos sing so pure and clean. This type of singing is what makes her the exceptional artist that she is.
I can't understand this agitation. Naturally is this BARBARA HENDRICKS, this is for sure. I know her voice many years ago, and this voice is characteristic for her. She has the prescious silver sound in her voice and you can herknow at once. - By the way, this aria by Korngold is perfect for her wonderful voice. Thank you for sharing.
Barbara Hendricks has the rich and lush soprano that complements Korngold's music perfectly; I think he would have loved to have had her sing Mareitta.
Kiri, unfortunately is silver and metallic and not nearly as warm.
Just so beautiful many thanks for the posting -peace and love Paul xx

Without question it is Hendricks. That luminous silvery top voice is her calling card and unmistakable. Marvelous rendition of a haunting aria.

She is wonderful - she has a "Puccini- Voice" and this goes in extraordinairy way with Korngold fine music.

@amonasro100 I love Barbara, but she does NOT have a "Puccini Voice!" Also, there is no need to hyphenate between Puccini and Voice!

With her luminous soaring voice, Hendricks can probably sing anything so the notes were all there, but it felt cool rather than impassioned to me.
