  • 1:55 ohhh yeah

  • its hi-hat not high hat

  • Pretty clever

  • Thank you! This helped me sooo much

  • your shit

  • With these tutorials always being so fast, and on the floor, I'm always expecting the police to suddenly burst through the window from a helicopter or a shootout! lol

  • Try doing something that actually requires a double pedal to begin with. If U can't play this example single pedal, keep practicing. >}

  • Drop clutch

  • thanx, nice tip!

  • This might work fine for double bass pedal users, but it certainly doesn't work for double bass drum users. Nice tip, but you might want to switch that hi-hat stand out for a two legged stand which will place your hi-hat pedal closer to your left bass pedal so you don't have to gumby your foot so much. You could break a toe if you where to kick it up a notch... :)

  • i think i could have figured that out on my own because sometimes when i play i put my foot on the hi-hat anyway like that, not as sideways, but i guess that it's just a wierd habbit!

  • that looks uncomfortable

  • "Tutor", come on dude. What are your qualifications? You happen to have a kit? You obviously *lack* any formal training, and from your technique I can see that you're unpracticed. lettoghuskepaa is right, that beat can *easily* be played with one foot; I'll make a video myself to show you how unnecessary the 2nd pedal is if you want, and how you could use that energy on the HH *properly*. Youtube is full of posers, and it makes finding good lessons more difficult. Stick to DJing, "tutor"

  • i just got a double bass pedal for christmass and i need help!!! is it supposed to go beside the highhat foot pedal? cuz i put it there but one of the legs on the high hat is sort of blocking it which is really annoying when i use it.

  • @moneybemine you might need to buy a two-legged hi hat stand, i believe you can get a good one for $60-$80. or you could do like i did and just play around with the placement until you get it to work but it would be much easier if you spend the money for the two-legged hi hat stand

  • @moneybemine if you look around the legs somwhere there should be like, an alen key screw, or a wing nut, or a lug nut that will release the legs, and then you should be able to rotate the legs to your liking

  • lmao nice socks!

  • Work on your timing you keep rushing but nice tip just a bit of constructive cristisim

  • Nice hat XD

  • u suck eryone knows how to do that u need a tutor

  • I think kthe "tutor" needs a tutor...

  • WHY NOT? - thanks for another nice tip

  • I have a fast heavy right foot so rarely use that techniqe. But I keep the pedal as close to the hi-hat to be more comfortable when I do use it. Obviously, it works well on pop/techno/disco beats.

  • If you have to use two pedals for that beat, you should just lose one and learn how to play it with one. Not that hard.

  • How's the mechanism called?

  • ive seen ppl that just have one hi hat closed and a separate one opened up....

  • @gotM3T4L yea we use that alot for metal it works great :)

  • @rye12348 Yea ppl get pissed when i lock their hi hat down for double bass and forget to raise it lol

  • Just buy a drop clutch but im not sure how many ppl use a double kick pedal when playing on the hi-hat. and if they do the hi-hat stays in one position the whole song

  • watch carter beauford from dave matthews band.... he uses a similar techinique that this guy but he put his left foot exactly in the middle between both pedals

  • ...FAIL

  • There are so many things wrong with this video. Predominantly the fact that this individual is attempting to teach.

  • FAIL

  • i would agee! unless we use another hi hat on the right, maybe you can think of something on what can we do or what can we put we play fast beats on the double pedal..if you can respond,,,thanks in advance

  • Check out the Coady Clutch by Billdidit.

  • what about heel toe? Then you are screwed

  • what a gimp

  • why do you own a double bass pedal?

  • @roady05 why not!

  • OMFG. I just dropped 20 IQ points and became a very confused man. This is sad.

  • hey can anyone ask me this question?...does the hihat pedal go before or after the second base pedal, i have mine before the second base pedal because if i put it after i feel that my hi hat is too far away and i have it before but sometimes it gives me problems like when i go a little faster my left feet begins to run off to the beginning of the pedal (thats like the base of the pedal if you understand what im saying)

  • wtf man why did you do this im not so experienced and i can do what you just did there by switching my feet to the other pedal...well i dont even have to do that because i can do that with one foot but ive done more complex beats with double pedal and also hihat choking also you can choke the hi hat without hitting it with your stick by doing it with your heel

  • dude this is no good if u wanna make those dubble pedals do some work. like some slayer , cannibal corpse or something with some balls

  • so the reason you have a double bass is what....??? your right foot is to slow to play a simple beat?

  • how much weed do u smoke man?

  • The idea with a double a bass peddle is that you use the bass drum FAST

  • Wtf? R u serious? Get off youtube. Now.

  • what abt when u go faster because i can do that beat u were doin with only one bass pedal i dont need the second one but what if u go fast?

  • or you could do like i did and move the hi hat closers to were there almost touching and you can play normally without having your foot sideways and you can play heel toe

  • I didnt hear anything you couldnt do by utilizing heel toe with one foot

  • or you could just un clamp the bit above the hi hat and leave it to just sit there.. ok ytou dont get the open and closing but you do sortf the racket of the open hat. make sense?

  • are you fucking kidding me too? play vendetta speed then i wanna see the hihat open^^

  • you're kidding me, right?

  • This would be great for funky groove drumming. The problem with this is, if you're into heavy drumming and want to drum at a higher bpm, you probably prefer lifting your whole foot up and using your toes to use your double pedal, and obviously then your hihat will open. Also, using this method might involve moving your hihat around to a different position, or twisting your leg round a bit.

  • thts great but how do we use the high hat when we go fast?

  • @joeysharbeen95 exactly the point! unless you use another hi-hat on the right, maybe he can thinhk of something that we can use or do when we play fast beats on the double pedal

  • @joeysharbeen95 watch sean reinerts evolutionary sleeper cam video

  • @joeysharbeen95

    Only practice : (

  • @joeysharbeen95 dobbel?!

  • ya but what happens when you go fuckin fast

  • i litterally figured this out 2 days ago be fore watching this vid lol

  • good trick, I'll try it.

  • Or you can buy a drop clutch?

  • does everyone seem to have this sonor pedal?

  • i like his hat.

  • haha i agree

  • ya its called getting a triple bass pedal i think he was high when he made this piece of crap

  • triple is for pussies lol

  • haha totally what about a quad pedal

  • if u use that you dont have genitals at all lol.

  • haha avenged sevenfold is bad ass to bad The Rev died :(

  • nice man great think!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL XD

  • yeah nice tip but the reson you buy double bass pedals is so that you can faster than using a single pedal

i cant imagine being able to go fast whilst using that method

  • @theresentfuldead yeah but thats just if your playing the highhat closed while you use double bass pedal it doesnt always need to be closed

  • Very Good!!!

    Brother...

    Brazil!!!

  • holyshit

dat was amazing i have to know how to do that

    just kiding that wasgay

  • hahahahah you've got to be kidding me!

  • I agree with flamtapman... I just wasted my time watching this stupid video.

  • LOL, I've already mastered that :P I can do i think 170bpm heel down on right foot, and left heel on hi-hat pedal. It's alright for the sounds, but you don't really get much power out of the left pedal, since your only using the ball of your foot, and the heel is rested on the high-hat pedal. You're better off getting an extension for the high-hat pedal and putting it next to your right (or main) kick pedal so you can switch easily. I DO NOT recommend this method for regular use.

  • Just a lil word to the wise, DO NOT learn to play like that! lol

  • ok, this beat can be played with one foot on the bass.

  • yer its so easy if you can do it one foot you dont need a double pedal

  • why do i see so many people jus wearing socks when playing drums? I play drums, but i cant find any advantages. well i guess what im trying to say is it doesn't improve, or hinder me either way.

  • this guy is an IDIOT. n y doesnt he use his heel on the pedal

  • wow i love wasting my time watching stupid videos

  • a brainless cat could figure out your technique....

  • For slower double bass, like eighths notes for instance, I've gotten into the left foot hitting both the hi hat and the left pedal at the same time. So I've got the two pedals sitting smack against each other. It adds just a little extra something...

  • What if I wanna use the bass pedal in a 16/16 way, cause I can play this beat without a double bass pedal.

  • wtf is that on his head

  • ha ha

  • haha cool

  • you dont need dobbel pedals to play that beat

  • yh im 11 and i can play that

    without a double pedal

  • :O sweet i can play this 2 when i was like 10-11 ish

  • nice spelling

  • @lettoghuskepaa That was just an example I think, You can use this advice for blast beat, or when it,s needed, but I don,t know, I'm not a drummer lol

  • @lettoghuskepaa Metal drummers need that asshole... CHECK your spelling "dobbel"...

  • @lettoghuskepaa yea bro, im 14 and i can do that easily with a single bass.

  • @lettoghuskepaa I think you missed the point

  • @lettoghuskepaa it was for demonstration purposes

  • @lettoghuskepaa wanna see u playing 1:55 with only one pedal :P

  • yes this works for ghost notes or accent notes with the left bass pedal, but for straight double bass it would be hard as hell.

  • Do not use bam12049's spelling "TECNEK". If you use this "TECNEK" you'll have a difficult time finding a job and making it through the world.

  • Dennis Chambers to the best of my knowledge came up with that little cross stepping technique. It works quite well with practice.

  • well, yeah, kind of a problem if you're playing heel up or even worse, if you've mastered heel-toe technique..

  • Yeah.. I'd just stick with heel toe drumming.. Sure, it's a bit harder to get well, but it'll sound more fluent and leave you with more things to do with your other foot

  • wierd bass pedal

  • hey the tutorials realy help me, i wish there were more people willing to teach what they know, thank you, keep up the good work .

    God Bless You.

  • is this sum kinda joke!? lolz

  • he mentioned getting a clutch. i have one of those and it works great. i highly recommend getting one, if you use double bass

  • Yeah, I have a clutch but the problem is what if you want to play double bass and operate the high hat at the same time?

  • That's when you use heel toe drumming.

  • i keep my high hat barly open.

  • Ok, ppl, don't do this... it's a bad advice to play like this O.o

  • how?

  • how this is not a good way to play?... U can't figure that out yourself? :P Try to play some advanced rythms like this and you'll see...

  • lol idk i never tried playing like that

  • ehehe I think its easier with just one pedal for that rhythm lol

  • LoL :D Lovely technique :) Really odd, but you're good at it :P

  • or you could just get two set of high hats... ive seen alot of rock bands doing that...place the second set of hats between second tom and floor tom. Keep one set open and the other set close

  • whats the fun in that tho lol

  • hahaha, dude...umm...he wasn't utilizing having 2 bass drum pedals. SUCKS!!!

  • its an example get over it

  • ...If you need hi hats for doubles (the rudiment, not double bass) on the bass then maybe its time you buy a guitar....

  • im hungry..

  • agree

  • your left foot isn't doing anything but srtricking in time with the snare. SO i think you could have done that beat with just your right pedal. try double base while opening and closing the hats and then that technique will make sense.

  • That is really cool info bro. Thanks for it.

  • Don't try this at home... lol

  • hmm...i wonder.

sixteen notes on your double bass with right foot on 1 an 2 an 3 an 4 an.

then left foot between the 1 an, an 2 so your left is playing on the 'e' and the 'a' every other sixteenth note.

has anbody who has mastered the heel toe technique managed to play the heel on the hi-hat and the toe on the left pedal making the double bass straight sixteenth notes with the hi-hat on 1 an 2 an 3 an 4 an? if you could do this with solo over top it wud be awesome :)

  • or you could just use one foot for the bass on that beat and the other on the hihat...

  • its called double bass....meaning 2 bass pedals.

  • why is there a sock on your head?

  • hes english lol

  • that only works if you doing easy songs that dont require lots of double bass.

  • or you could just undo the butterfly clip on the hi-hat o it just goes down so then you can just concentrate on your double bass pedal with your feet :l

  • theres a way to fuck up ur foot lol

  • you can do that or just do what most drummers do,lower the (top) hat untill desired sound and still have almost the same dynamics and you dont have to keep one foot on two pedals.

  • for starters why did u need to use double bass for that beat that you did. i figure your just useing it as a demo, but on faster beats you have to lift your feet up so it would be hard doing it this way. one more thing i was just curiose about, did you have your aunties underwear in your bass drum this time sounded good.lol. jk

  • its as if your the first person thats ever thought of that.

  • He juss said in the video Stupid Watch it Dumb ass

  • just get a drop clutch

  • ellaskins if you wanna put a video on youtube, first learn to play the instrument.. pay some classes or something.. or try another instrument if you have really practiced your "tecnique" for a long time man.. sorry bur you`r baaaadd drumer

  • It's simple tech, and he rocks, stfu.

You make some better vids, then. :/

  • i would like to see you make a Video of you playing drums i will later on Haha Pce Sucka

  • nice hat

  • i use a drop clutch, it's very handy. that technique isn't really too useful for faster double bass, and what you're doing with your left and right feet can be done with one foot anyway.

  • Agree... we can do the bass beat with only left foot....

  • i used this video for legal advise and now i have 3 pending child molestation charges. i guess i should have read the disclaimer.

  • You can buy little clips for the hi hat so it acts like a normal hi hat but when its off it goes back to how you want it. good for double bass players!

    Search:

    Drum Workshop Hi-hat Drop Clutch

In google and it comes up with it. Hope is helps!

  • Frist 30 seconds.... well duh! Second no It does not have to make "a lot of noise" because you can just keep the high hat closed by tightening the high hat nut while its closed (again well duh). Your technique (if you wana call it that) isnt that much of a bad idea but like some else said you dont need a double bass pedal for beat just play it with one foot. Post a new vid if you ever get speed with this tec. Btw explaining what your doing the end? Were not retarded! Good luck anyway.

  • sikk man thnx i oh u

  • thx i'm gonna go try that.

  • you dont even need a dubble bass for that beat

  • this doesnt work,he isnt actually playing a double bass pattern anyway, only hitting the occasional extra note with it,u couldnt play a proper patern while ur foot is twisted like that and ur heel is on hi hat

  • Tried this before....doesn't really help :P

  • also you can foot pain when your older it happened to a friend of mine so try not to do this

  • you can get ankle and foot pain at any age with this technique because you're hyperflexing the tarsal joint in a way that it's not really meant to flex in such a way.

besides, this technique is absolute crap. never have i seen a drummer doing any double bass work like this. besides, if you learn how to do a quick triplet (bass bass snare; think punk), you eliminate the need to put your hi hat foot on both the hi hat pedal and the double bass but rather just on the hi hat pedal...

  • true

  • Uh, technique.

  • if you're playing metal, most songs don't change from open high hat to closed high hat while doing fast double bass pedal

Also, to the dude who said £250, you can get mapex one for £85, say $150, they don't break easily at all

  • smart....

  • fucking naruto.....

  • Quite a good idea but it doesn't work when you're playing the double bass pedal very fast, like playing metal.

but if you're a jazz or funk drummer, then its great!

  • If you're a jazz or funk drummer, you don't really need a double bass pedal :/

  • True, well I guess it's just a question of choice really. Some Jazz/Funk drummers use them and some don't.

  • why are double bass pedals so expensive and do you know where i can get one for under $50???? please help me out!!!

  • EBAY or buy a second hand one the best thing to do is save ur money for an entry level pearl pedal

  • u cant if u get a cheap double kick pedal under $50 it will just be shit and will break

u have to save up about $250 for a good double bass pedal

  • i coul've said wat he said in 15 seconds

  • I just keep my hi-hat closed when I need to use my double pedal.

  • <
