I remember being placed in a booster that was just a hard box of plastic with no back and no armrests even. I was only 2 and a half. Boy, have times changed for the better! I'm just glad I've never been in an accident.
Just took my 8 year old out of her Regent. I wish more people would continue 5 point restraints, its simply safer. You don't see race car drivers in 3 point seat belts do you? Did I have to deal with a few 'When am I going to get out of the car seat?' sure - but having my child safe is much more important than avoiding an argument or fitting in with the crowd.
@sapereaudeut I completely agree with you...Believe it or not I still have my 11 year old in his Regent fully 5-point harnessed and he fits just fine well within the weight and height limit of the seat. Virtually No complaints from him either as he likes his seat and it's simply the norm to him.
Good video. However, I am VERY leary about the 5 point harness concerning one matter...why is there an attachment latch in around the crotch area? I really don't think that attachment latch in the crotch is not only unnesscessary, but also it can be harmful to their reprodictive organs in case of a high speed impact! Couldn't a four point harness be a bit more logical and conveinently safer?
@Pookatube@Pookatube Actually the attachment in the crotch area prevents what is called 'submarining' - the child can slide under the belt causing the belt to push into their abdomen causing lacerations to their internal organs and severe internal bleeding. Search for a video called "Britax Parkway SGL Booster Seat" for a great explanation with examples. I just transitioned my 8 year old from her 5 point Britax Regent to a Parkway SGL and chose the SGL because it prevents this
Wow what a good vid well done in aust the lwas r so dif I have a 7 yr old who is only 52lbs and she is 50inches tall so not very big at all and she can sit in a normal belt I dont like this at all as i feel it is unsafe we had a booster for her and we could use a harns but it is so findle then the normal ones so yeah good job on this and do u think she should b in a booster with a inbuilt harness
@hablab7 Those are only on Britax seats (they are called HUGS). You can put them on another seat. It hasn't been tested with any other brand. They aren't to keep the chest clip in place. They are supposed to help with distributing crash forces better in a crash when the child is FFing or something like that. They act as a gripper of sorts.
My oldest two just turned FF at just turned 5yr old and 3yrs 8mon old. They are both in Frontier85 now. They will be in that harnessed seat for a while, or until they out grow it.
I had ny daughter in a 5 point harness until she was 7 years old she barely weighs 50 pounds and is 8 she is little but I kept her in it for safety reasons. she hated it but she was safe.
if anybody is looking for a very inexpensive 5 point harness that cant afford the Britex brand a good car seat is the Graco Nautilus it 5 point harnesses to 65 lbs and then turns into a high back or backless booster till 100 lbs. I have it for my4 year old and she loves it. and so do we. I got it for 145.00 and it was well worth it. my daughter out grew her carseat for the height when she was 2 and a half years old she was 45 inches and almost 40 lbs so I got that for her.
Good video...I put our daughter into a Britax booster when she was a little over 3 in 2005. I now will leave our son, who is 16 months in a 5 point harness much longer before placing him in a booster. He is still ERF and will be until 35 lbs. My daughter is now almost 9 and still in a booster. One question...what song is playing in this video?? I love it!
@hmerrihew the song is Yiruma- River flows in you :) I love it too!
And thanks :) My 7 year old just left her harness into a booster just a few months ago full time. My next baby will ERF to at least 2 years old, if not longer.

What is that grey rubber thing you have on the straps that holds the chest clips in place? I need some of those!

My parents kept me harnessed until my shoulders were to high to get the straps over them comfortably.

Thank you so much for this one! I will be showing this one to my brother who thinks his 2.5yr old needs to be put in a booster when she turns three!
