It appears to really lock the hair in which I like. I always use jaw clips to hold my bun, this way I don't have ripping and tearing of the hair. The problem I have with combs (or 'teeth') is eventually it starts to pull my hair down and the top of my head [the hair] becomes completely flat. I would buy this item because it's size makes me think it would do a good job holding the hair, even letting me have a bit of a crown on top. I'll check it out for sure.
