  • Bravo Cecilia Bartoli!

  • Brava Cecelia. A very enjoyable performance. If you do not like, do not listen. Do not waste your own and everybody else's time making stupid negative comments. If you need to feed your ego by putting others down, go see a good psychiatrist so you can learn to live a happier more positive life. We all have likes and dislikes. Find what you like and learn to praise rather than put down. Criticism is occasionally constructive, however, there is very little of that in the comments below.
  • Her facial gestures are a bit distracting, but I love her voice and superb coloratura and musicality.

  • I just love her! I've been a songstudent for 4 years. I sing beautyfully but she's just in another league........

  • I'm really amazed, that's actually a really good performance. Not too many gargling, neither crazy speed up in the tempo. Well done without her weird coloratura technique(coup de glote = so weird). There is the coloratura just without the weirdness.

  • Cecilia Bartoli actually IS a "proper operatic" singer. Liking or disliking her sound is purely a matter of personal taste. As with all the famous opera singers of today, just as many people abhor each voice as feel that is is by far the best above all the rest. To criticize technique that is flawless is less than becoming of you. To say that her voice, her interpretation or her particular set of acting skills is not quite what you enjoy, is acceptable and a lot more accurate.

  • Young Bartoli: good

    Older Bartoli: not so good

  • She was amazing at her 22 years old. Now she is even better! Bravo Cecelia!!

  • @SparafucileDiMantova Better? Gargling? Oh yes... sooo great... Oh please.

  • Only 22 years of age in this video -- AMAZING!!!

  • So beautiful. Strong concept, strong desire to convey meaning, and character, and impeccable musicality. I might quibble with the tempo, but no one could argue that she doesn't sustain the piece from start to finish. The sly humor is also deeply appreciated.

  • let them who have a more agile, emotional or smooth voice be the one to throw the first stone.

  • @03paomer YT is for listening and expressing opinions. One doesn't have to be a singer to express an opinion.

Relax, and enjoy a polite discussion. No offense is intended. Not all people are going to like the same singer.

  • she sings weird plus she don't follow the right nows there are some shrap notes that she can't do and she looks like a mad girl

  • @serenaluce You are really crazy, little baby ;)

  • @spenzur Why? Big baby, can you explain?:-)

  • @serenaluce Hahaha xD Well, because you say miss Bartoli cant sing, while she earns millions of money with singing. A bit weird dont you think? I understand you dont like her voice and technique but thats a matter of taste. Because I love her ''clucking hen'' technique, like Cristina Deutekoms. I bet she does care about art, because she does research herself, to give her audience original music. So why do you talk about her like that? She brings pleasure to many, many people ;)

  • @spenzur Hahaha, I didn't say she can't sing. I said she began as a promising singer but then degradated only into a singing machine entertaining people for money with her UGLY VISCERAL SPECIAL EFFECTS! Big baby, do you know anything about freedom of expression? Why am I crazy if I think differently? That Bartoli makes millinions isn't a proof of her GREATNESS. Pop and rock singers make even more, are they GREATER?Original music?PJ entertains people with empty sugary sounds and calls it baroque..

  • @serenaluce Of course you are free to express yourself. The way you do it is very immature and rude though. ANd yes, those are special effects. Very very special, because Bartoli is the only one who does it that way. That makes her special! You will never be as succesfull and nice as Bartoli, so maby you should show some more respect? Or just stop saying those weird things, acting like she is a bad singer. Thats all I wanted to say ;) When somone is making millions, he/she is doing things well.

  • @spenzur Oh, come on. Artists are public figures and are supposed to be judged by all LISTENERS, and not only their their devoted fans and their COLLEGUES who also sing! It's not a musical academy, but YT, a democratic institution where all opinions are allowed! What kind of argument is it that I can't sing like CB and will never be that successful! I can do something much better that Bartoli can't! I'm not a ballet dancer either. So, I can't judge that one dancer is better than another?Bullshit

  • @serenaluce As I already said, you can judge her if you want, but the way you do that is very very stupid. Didn't people teach you how to behave properly? Can't you just give critics withouth sounding like a bitch? The only positive thing is, that I think you only act like this on youtube and not in real life, so theres still hope YEAH!

  • @spenzur I wonder who YOU are to judge what is VERY STUPID?! Mind that I only expressed my OPINION about Bartoli's ugly singing and didn't attack anybody with a different opinion and didn't insult anybody personally like you do "bitch" or patronize "little baby". Actually, YOUR comments are IMMATURE, but in reality you have a MEGALOMANIA if you teach the others how they should behave on YT.I wouldn't run to the stage to slap CB on the face but I would tell HER what I think about her UGLY singing

  • @serenaluce Ok your right about the insults, I shouldnt have said that. But I just dont understand you negative people who go to youtube to give their opinion on an artist they dont like. My 15 year old brother who hates opera talks about Cecilia the way you do. So I expected more from people who like opera I guess.

  • @spenzur Oh, come on. All artists are supposed to be judged by LISTENERS and expect not only praises but negative comments too. If they were afraid of criticism they wouldn't be on stage and sit quietly in the office! I don't insult anybody personally, only comment on what Bartoli or anybody else does ON STAGE! Get over it! I don't care about CB as a PERSON. There's no artist whom EVERYBODY likes! But it doesn't mean people shouldn't criticize. If you don't, others do!Your example is IRRELEVENT!

  • @serenaluce Did you even read what I wrote?? I already said multiple times that I think everyone is allowed to criticize on youtube. So you dont have to say that because on that we agree. The only difference is that I think some people criticize too immature. You can say: ''Shes a bad singer, she cant sing, she only sings for money''

Or you can say: ''I really dont think she sings well. I hate her voice and her technique''

    See the difference?

  • @spenzur McDonalds also make millions and bring pleasure with their fast food, but it 's still junk meal and it's not good.

  • @spqrmor But thats a fact. With Bartoli its a matter of taste. ;)

  • @spenzur Yes,it is. But don't believe your eyes when seeing on the cage with a lion says Tiger.

  • @spenzur Now you sound like you're borrowing a page from the popera fans' guidebook. They use buzz phrases like "You can't sing as well as he/she can" or "You're just jealous" to discredit people who disagree with them. Come now, opera fans are supposed to be above stuff like that. Everyone is entitled to express their opinions on YT.We're all entitled to be critics here.

  • @arpeggio1358 Well I already said that. What I dont like is the way some people express their opinion. I never really care about it though. But I wondered why people would do such things.

  • @spenzur By the way, I should have checked your channel much earlier. You are only 26 and you dare talk to a 44 year-old lady "little baby" and call her comments immature?! You really have MEGALOMANIA, buddy. Grow up first! You can talk like that with your 15 year-old brother and educate him how he can behave on YT and in real life! And I don't need lessons from my would be students. I'm a teacher myself, but it's IRRELEVENT on YT! Save your energy on really RUDE people who write OBSCENITIES onYT

  • @serenaluce Well I'll tell you something wich will even shock you more. Im not 26, im 18. I dont know what MEGALOMANIA is, but I do know its weird, especially for a teacher and a 44 year old woman, to tell people they have deseases ;) A bit wrong dont you think? Very funny, I thought you were much younger, because you talked like that. This gets too personal for youtube. because I dont even know you. I bet you are very nice in real life, I only think you act immature on youtube sorry.

  • @spenzur Boy, actually I don't care what you think about ME! I only expressed my OPINION about this particular video and Bartoli's ugly singing in general! If you don't have anything better to do in your young life you can go on bugging me but I don't want to discuss anything with you anymore as with you a civilized discussion is impossible! And enjoy your precious Bartoli and think that she is GREAT only because she is OVERPROMOTED! Some people like to see a woman and hear FAKE man's low notes!

  • @serenaluce Yes I like her because she is commercial, not because she is a very good artist. I dont care about her singing, I like her because she is rich, fake and popular!

Well Im very good at civilized discussions, but I only can have that with civilized people. You are like many youtube users. You cant even give critics on a polite way and your a teacher? ''She doestn care about art'' I mean seriously, did you read her mind or something? xD Cant believe this.....

  • @spenzur Boy, grow up first for civilized discussions. Heated discussions can be civilized too. YT is made this way to allow people to express their OPINIONS if they are positive or NEGATIVE if there are no personal insults, obscenities, lies, stalking or threats towards artists which is unacceptable! Let me remind your own comment:"... just stop saying those weird things, acting like she is a bad singer Thats all I wanted to say ;) When somone is making millions, he/she is doing things well."

  • @spenzur Who is acting as a TEACHER here, imposing his opinion which is no more valuable than anyone else's on the other people?! Who is obnoxious here and not behaving in a civilized way, patronizing older people "little baby"?! Mind that you are entitled to your own opinion on YT and can enjoy Bartoli's singing for whatever reason you prefer. If you like her visceral special effects which stir the guts and must be so exciting especially at your age it doesn't give the right to insult "crazy".

  • @spenzur Why didn't you answer to the reply to you about McDonald's?! Making millions isn't a sign of real GREATNESS! That Bartoli with her ugly visceral special effects found her public which is excited to see a woman, a mediocre mezzo who fakes MAN's LOW notes and it stirs their guts, only means that Bartoli has a special talent to sell herself for the industry. But singing is first of all about BEAUTY, not ugliness! McDonald's makes even billions, so it proves that its food is really GREAT?!

  • @serenaluce I did reply on that. Look at page 2 :) Well I guess we will never agree, we keep repeating ourselfs. So lets end this and continue in peace.

  • @spenzur The first sober thought from you:-). Amen! We agree to disagree. Happy listening to you!

  • @serenaluce I absolutely agree. Bartoli started out as a brilliant singer. Over the years her technique and voice have degenerated into something quite ugly. I can barely listen to her the way she sounds now.

  • Ahh, Bartoli is a machine in the Opera world. No one comes close to those thrills and that agility. She is awesome.

  • A true Mezzo Soprano, with fantastic range. I started listening to her when she first recorded at around age 20, she has only gotten better.

  • thanks to everyone for making me laugh. the PASSION we feel for these great singers. at least it's something worth fighting about — as if there could be one, only one, who wins our heart and soul. apparently the "offensive" comment was deleted but it does seem ridiculous to accuse Bartoli of "lacking vocal agility" especially in light of the Vivaldi and castrati recordings.

  • i love cecilia so much! <3

  • die koloraturen in der stimme!!

    AMAZING!!

  • Stunning brilliance is always resented by struggling mediocrity.

  • Folks... isn't it possible to talk about singing skills without attacking each other?

I like her singing an I like her very much, eventhough I prefer a different technique in singing :)

  • @QuiRan82 - This a point very well made. Thank you. These sorts of vile attacks are unacceptable.

Bartoli at times demonstrates flawless technique but at other times pushes her voice and the vibrato is distorted. The voice, is small though perfectly formed when singing Rossini, Bellini, some Mozart and some Donizetti. It's a joy to watch and listen to her singing Vivaldi. Her breath control with Vivaldi is absolutely amazing. A beautiful artist though not my favourite singer ever.

  • Bartoli's Rosina from Barber of Seville is excellent. She's just the right voice for it. This aria can be sung by either a coloratura soprano or mezzo-di-coloratura, which is what Bartoli specializes in. She has great chest and high voice, and agility for the coloratura parts. She might even sound just like the original Rosinas of the 19th century - the Garcia sisters that Rossini himself employed in his opera

  • @MastersoftheOpera - ABSOLUTELY RIGHT - A really good example of a mezzo interpretation is Marilyn Horne - it's a stunning performance.

  • I love :)

    5/5

  • Whoever doesn't give her credit for being an incredible singer obviously has no knowledge of proper operatic singing.

  • Oh, so now we're getting personal, are we?

Well then, what is it that you particularly dislike about her singing, you tasteless jerk?

  • She lacks vocal agility? Are you kidding me?! That might be the most stupid thing I have EVER heard.

  • @jrr1234567890 you have serious issues if you even entertain the idea that cecilia bartoli "lacks vocal agility"

  • I entertain it, and no, i dont have serious issues- its called a difference of opinion, which I'm entitled to have, and which you should respect even if you disagree with it. Why are people so childish and egotistical on this website?? If you think she is vocally agile say why rather then simply deriding my opinion (which is hardly intelligent). People need to learn how to debate more

  • @jrr1234567890 we need those greek sophists :)

  • disagree with me, fine, but replying like this is pathetic. Gain an education and then converse with me.

  • @jib48 - I do NOT agree with jrr1234.... However, this disgusting and absolute gutter dwelling reply only proves to demonstarte that you are an absolute peasant devfoid of any intellectual capacity for reasoned arguement. It is absolutely fine to disagree with someone but totally unacceptable to attack in this vile manner.

  • perfection

He visto a Cecilia.

Saludos!

  • Ok! Sera un placer y gracias por contestar!

    Felices fiestas navideñas!!!

    Y muchos bendiciones del altisimo!

    Dic.23

  • Love that facial-change at 3:30!!!!!!!!!! So very cute she is.

  • Beautiful!good job Cecilia, Bravissima!

  • bartoli is to love or hate. not middle terms, and i love her! she is so wild and excentric, never afraid to impress us with her own style always risky and unique!

  • The best

  • my god the orchestra seems so late at times !!

  • Those delays are intentional. You don't necessarily want the orchestra to hit right on the downbeat when Cecilia sings the downbeat. This understates her vocals and allows her to hit those strong notes with orchestral punctuation.

  • yes, and they also are used for singers of a smaller voice frame.

  • beautiful

  • she have a scale that goes to contralto to soprano! a extremely rare type of opera singers that makes her voice one of the most versatile voices of the moment of the moment!

  • Actually she is a rare type of opera singer that can sing roles for contralto to soprano...she have a great scale of notes!

  • I'm not sure that her singing is ENTIRELY healthy, but this is a very fun and flirtatious Rosina. Brava.

  • doixxxx mio..es la mejor..

  • It's nice to hear the younger, fresher, not so wackily-mannered Bartoli.

  • She turns so well at the end ! Yes !

  • I LOVE mezzos... Sopranos get on my Nerves! Cecilia is the best out there.

  • Perfect voice, perfect acting, perfect decor.

  • la giogiosa!

  • Thank You......I've been dying to find this....

    BRAVA !!!!

  • she is yust perfect, my favorite ópera singer, and she is mezzosoprano too, that makes me feel , so good

  • I LOVE YOU SO MUCH ♡,,♡
