I was kind of sorry to hear her say that Roman should be left alone. While it's true what Polanski did pales in comparison to what happened to her sister her logic is flawed. I'm not even sure she had any kind of rapport with her ex brother-in-law because she was 15 at the time so if she feels they should be lenient on him I'm not even certain she feels that way because she still considers him a friend. I actually feel sorry for these women.
What they did was completely unacceptable and disgusting, but they must have something wrong with them mentally.

The families of the victims also got a life sentance that day and for them and the victims there is never going to be a possibilty of a second chance for them. I prefer to keep my sympathy for the victims. Those women chose to be in those houses and actively took part in the torture and butchery.

Although the trial happened before I was even born, committing murder is wrong, unacceptable and unexcusable. Sharon Tate was an actress at the 1960's, so I don't know about her so much. When I read the information about her murder, I was terrified and shocked. She was about to give birth to an innocent child in happiness and love. Who could they do that to her ?

I was comparing the Manson and the Polanski cases. Polanski doesn't accept responsibility or show any remorse for his crime but people think his "creative genius" is reason to let him off. Manson is also very creative and some people like his artwork and songs. Let him off too.

I don't think Polanski should be let off either, since he pled guilty & ran to avoid sentencing, but most especially because letting him off would reinforce the notion, [not unreasonable after the OJ murder trial & Michael Jackson's legals shenanigans, that there is a different justice available in LA for celebrities.
Manson refuses to accept culpability, which short of new evidence showing him innocent, is a prerequisite for parole. None of them will ever get out; the case is too high profile.

You got it all wrong. Jordan Chandler's father was suing Michael for money because he wanted to work on more movies (he wrote the screenplay to Men in Tights). He wasn't being prosecuted. If he had something to hide, don't you think he would have paid him before the police trashed his home, before he was publicly humiliated, before he was subjected to a dehumanizing search of his private parts? I was kind of sorry to hear her say that Roman should be left alone. While it's true what Polanski did pales in comparison to what happened to her sister her logic is flawed. I'm not even sure she had any kind of rapport with her ex brother-in-law because she was 15 at the time so if she feels they should be lenient on him I'm not even certain she feels that way because she still considers him a friend. It might simply be the passage of time & the fact that it's less heinous than murder.

Over the years Debra Tate has dropped his name quite often and apparently still speaks to him on the phone even though he was only her brother-in-law for about 18 months and that was 40 yrs ago.

Obviously both are horrific crimes but some might reason that the taking of a life is the worse crime of all. I was not in any way trying to cast Polanski in even a remotely positive light. I've always been of the opinion that Polanski's behavior was indefensible but after having reflected on the crime a little bit more I'm not certain he does not deserve the same fate as Charles Manson.
