finally bought it two days ago. it jammed the first time because I didn't aligned the barrel correctly. after a quick fix, shoot about a 120 rounds through it without a problem. good solid gun...I only use it for clays!
Ive got an sxp defender, and to be 6.25 pound is pleasant as hell to shoot until you hit 3 inch magnum buckshot. Other than that I shoot about 100 birdshit 30 slugs and 30 00 buck in a session with no problems.
MUzzle angles are important, I just hope he doesn't shoot himself or anyone else by mistake. Being careless with guns is not acceptable they aren't fucking toys!
ok so im debating on getting the winchester sxp 2..cabelas has a clearance sale selling them for 299.99....that doesnt sound like a bad deal but was just wondering if this gun is worth buying or saving up for a better one...?
I got some heavier 32g no.5 bird and some 32g 00 Buck.
Slug after that.
Replace the factory bead with a red one, much better. One other after market part I do want is the Defender forearm. I can't hold 3 rounds in my left hand and pump the forearm comfortably as it is too wide.
hey I have put 5 boxes of 28g birdshot through mine. No troubles yet. :)
Though it doesn't cycle every time, maybe that's to do with the light load or the fact that its brand new. I REALLY like the way this shotgun is designed internally. A lot more thought and engineering went into it compared to others pumps like the 870 and Mossberg 500. The bolt has 1 pin! That pin is also the cam follower that unlocks the bolt. The firing pin return spring is ALSO the extractor spring.Nicely done Winchester
@PainTrane01 I have the same gun just the waterfowl version. Noticed it doesnt eject short brass shells/cheap shells. Is yours the same? What shell are you shooting?
@kjbiter90 yeah mine does the same thing, only kicks it about halfway back if I have a hand on the forend. If I were to shoot like he is in the video then it would cycle itself. Slugs or Buckshot cycle reguardless.
To tell you the truth it takes a lot to impress me. Started with Remington 870 about a couple of years ago, felt action was stiff, traded it with Benelli Nova, same stiffness felt, traded it with Mossberg 590A1 still something felt not right. Finally ordered a Winchester SXP Defender about 2 weeks ago, this one felt great and would definitely be a keeper if it doesn't give me any issues. So far, I'm very satisfied.
i love doing that trick with my 1200 and 1300, when you get used to it, u become deadly fast, had some people tell me its even scary :P haha good video!
PaneTrane01, any fails to eject yet? Any problems what-so-ever I mean TRY and find something wrong with this gun, if for no other reason than to stop the whiners whining.
Is that a fiber optic front sight? if so what kind and how did you attach it? I had an SX2 and couldnt figure out how to remove the front bead to attach a fiber optic sight.
will the forearm from that sxp fit a wooden stocked 1300, i have short arms and like the way the forearm comes all the way back under the ejection port .
i am thinking about buying the sxp camp/feild combo, i assume u reccomend it? X) ima winchester fan anyways, thats all i shoot is 1200 and 1300's X) and many others as well
@HARDBODYRALF far from it, the main reason it will cycle itself is because it is built really loose theres a lot of slop in the action, i picked one up the other day and looked at it and the action just felt like a toy gun didnt feel like a solid lock up or anything just felt like cycling an airsoft shotgun or any other plastic shotgun
@thesidewindersleeps yeah, and all pumps have slop....but the SXP is ridiculous when it comes to slop. like i said cycling it feels like cycling a toy it doesnt feel solid at all.
@ktktwix You obviously have not handled an SXP yet. The lock up on it is EXTREMELY solid and tight, the forend does not wiggle anywhere as bad as a mossberg, remington, or any benelli pump. That is why I bought this gun. It patterns great, the lock up is impeccable, its light, its smooth as hell, and its fast!! You idiots just want to argue. I have owned Mossbergs, Brownings, Remingtons, Benellis, Stoegers, Tri-Stars, Lanbers, and the Winchester SXP is by far the best pump on the market!
@PainTrane01 bitches (like ktktwix) gotta whine... I was put off Benelli because as soon as you get involved with 3-gun, everyone tries to sell you their 2nd hand Supernova... What does THAT say?
Also the Benelli semi-auto boys laugh at the supernova, say its the "cheap" Benelli.
@PainTrane01 well my mossberg 500 can cycle by itself too,if i hold it to my shoulder and shoot without a hand on the forearm with just low brass ltarget or game oads,if you dont believe me I can post a response video showing you.
I bet thats hard to get used to, it going back and keeping your hand on the foregrip. If it came in wood furniture I would be going to Gander Mtn. to get one right now.
@huntingblob haha you are saying that because you dont own an 870....ive owned nova's, 870's, BPS', Mossbergs, and the SXP is the fastest cycling, most reliable, most durable pump on the market. Check out my other vids....i have like 3 vids of me with an 870.
@PainTrane01 very true but im only 14 and im looking around for the right 870.im gunna be using the 870 for turkey, deer, waterfowl, and more.ive shot many 870s and mossbergs but not the SXP.when i go to the store ill check out the SXP and see wht i like and what fits better for me.u r right and i dont want to argue.and i know u know more and thanks for the help.and i love your vids.
HEY! You could install a spring externally on the loading tube, that would force the pump to stay forward. So when it comes back with the shot, the spring would push it to the front again!!! You could turn this shotgun into a semi-auto like this! PLEASE ANSWER!!! Thank you.

@5687678 yes there is, it's located behind the left side of the trigger guard. Similar to a mossberg but not as easy to reach.

@ktktwix umm..there is "slop" in the action because its a pump.. and it cycles because the bolt lock is on a cam.
