aye moe moe, its called a backdraft. you get behind one of these bad boys even with full ppe and your tails going to end up kissing the ground. so quit tryna sound smart with your ALL CAPS, and stop embarrasing yourself.
It's a backdraft guys, we load the end room of the unit with chipboard, the compartment has an internal door which can be opened from the outside. We then set the conditions and close the unit,,,, when we see pulsing smoke we open the internal door and boom,,, :)))
Can some one explain how backdrafts work? My understanding is somehing with the smoke catching on fire and like someone opening a door to cause air to rush in?
a backdraft is just to put it simple none firefighter terms. it is giving the fire oxygen which gets the smoke to catch fire but it happens so fast and you dont want to be caught in a backdraft or a flashover because you will mostly get burnt bad
and yeah. thats DEFFINITELY A BACKDRAFT. that door pretty much exploded off because all the pressure build up. that fire was starving for oxygen, notice the smoke puffing in and out. once they introduced oxygen all the pressure just exploded out the door.
a backdraft is when you introduce oxygen to a smoldering fire that is starved of oxygen and the room is filled with explosive gas at a high temp. then BOOM! backdraft. flashover happends when everything in the room reaches ignition point and just catches fire all at once. and flameover happened when the fire creeps above you through the smoke without you knowing and before you know it there is fire behind you, very bad. ALWAYS have 2 means of egress.
a backdraft is when you introduce oxygen/air into a fire thats been burning for a while.. a flashover is when everything just ignites and burns.. kind of like when you see a building up in huge flames.
ok i ve recently graduated form the academy and that is def not a flashover, flashovers dont usually create yellowish grey puffing smoke then a violent outward explosion, durrr we win not u
No this was a backdraft. A flashover is when all exposed surfaces in a room are on fire so u could say it has flashed over once this backdraft has occured but this video is showing a poorly vented fire at the back of the green container, once the door is opened on the compartment the fire reaches its ideal mixture and causes a deflagrgation through the block to find the exit therefore, a backdraft.

accutually a backdraft is when the fire has no oxygen so it looks for oxygen andwhenit finds enough it explodes more or less

I will agree this looks a lot more like a Backdraft then some of the other videos they have been promotying here on Youtube..
Very little smoke and there is the definate action of the inward surge then the powerful explosion of fire.
As apposed top the flashoever video , pretenders.

This is a GREAT example of early indicators of a backdraft about to occur: pulsing smoke/gases and brown-ish smoke. STAY SAFE!
