Brilliant coloratura technique of course, and for a change the diction is not that bad. The conducting is, at best, amateur (is this early Bonynge?) , the tempo way too fast, the ending like listening to a park band.
@philipc67 The conductor of this concert is Fulvio Vernizzi, and he is on a tear throughout. The end of "Sempre Libera" in the same concert is a race to the finish!
Without question the greatest soprano of all time. He voice was other-worldly; so beautiful, so ridiculously, technically perfect. It never fails to send shivers up my spine.
indestructible....inalcanzable....inabarcable......suprema......no hay calificativos ni para tan siquiera intentar describir este sonido.....simplemente unico e incomparable.estereo totalllll...por no decir cuadrofonico.....
The Italians get all upset because she beat'em at their own game but she's the greatest of them all from that period and without a doubt there has been no one since! Certainly time will attest to that!

@mrantiquedealer Upset? Of course we are upset when a form of art like opera is diminished to a circus performance. Listen the band-like effect at the end of this piece.
If there is still anybody stupid enough to question why Joan was called the "Voice of the Century" this should put an end to their stupidity! Bravo Joan and Vivia diva!!!!!!!!
davvero stupenda!!!

@sediziosevoci It's a bit brisk, but take it up with the conductor. The discussion was the supremecy of the singing, which is indisputably supreme.

Dame Joan tosses this music off like she doesn't know it's supposed to be difficult. The high D's are beautiful and thrilling. Thanks for the post!
