I was there when it happened....im sure it's happened before, nothing's stopping it from ever happening again. I watched him go down when i was a boy. i watched it with my own eyes. Yet, it didn't deter my dreams of being a fighter pilot for the U.S.Navy. God bless those who have died, and who are serving in our Military and armed forces. Semper-Fidelis men! Semper Fidelis....
A very nice job done by the Geico Skytypers. These, the missing man formations, always get to me when watching them. I can only imagine it must have been very difficult going on with the show the day after losing one of their comrades. But I guess that is what separates them from us. God bless them all! Thanks for sharing this fabulous, yet solemn, tribute to the fallen number 6. Great work!
i was laughing at the fact that hes a total retard, saying that if you dont cry your a terrorist, i mean thats totally stupid, further down he says someone is going to hell for saying hes a retard. i do have alot of respect for the pilot of BA #6, just not for idiots like hotshotmarine...
Oh, you mean just like I'm a terrorist for not crying? Do you even know what a terrorist is?(I'll give you a hint, it's NOT someone who hates America, otherwise the entire world would be a terrorist)
as a fellow pilot, i must forward my condolences to the family of this fallen legend. It is on of the pinnacles of aviation to be allowed the honour of flying for any military demonstration team, and for him to be in the blue angels, he must have been the best of the best. RIP brother.
The smoke is a visual and lets you know pretty much which one to watch. The missing man formation is a way pilots honor those who fell before them, either in combat or for those who have earned it through completion of meritorious service. May the pilot who earned this honor rest in peace.
hey man theres still hope. you can take to the skies through private instruction. Im on minimum wage and im getting flying lessons done. But then again i dont know how the licensing system works over there in the land of the free... im 'down under'... with the flying kangaroo! :)
That was an awesome tribute. Unlike the normal missing-man, the V formation was set aside for the traditional Blue Angels Delta. To further see the appropriate position pull away was perfect. I've followed the Blue's since I was 5. I cannot imagine a more fitting tribute.

I agree, but I could not imagine getting out of bed let alone flying a plane after I lost one of my comrades.

I really don't know how, but seeing a missing man formation makes me sadder than, say, seeing a crash itself...

Here's a poem read before the missing man formation of a friend of mine
triggerhappy14 3 years ago
I hope there's a place way up in the sky, Where airmen can go when they die.
A place where a guy can buy a cold beer,
For a friend and a comrade, whose memory is dear.
A place where no doctor or lawyer can tread,
Nor a management type would ere be caught dead.
Just a quaint little place, kind of dark, full of smoke,
Where they like to sing loud, and love a good joke.
The kind of a place where a lady could go,
And feel safe and protected by the men she would know.
triggerhappy14 3 years ago 5
There must be a place where old airmen go,
When their paining is finished, and their airspeed gets low
Where the whiskey is old and the women are young
And songs about flying and dying are sung.
Where youd see all the fellows who'd flown west before
And theyd call out your name as you came through the door
triggerhappy14 3 years ago 5
Who would buy you a drink if your thirst should be bad
And relate to others He was quite a good lad
And then through the mist youd spot an old guy
You had not seen in years though he taught you to fly
Hed nod his old head and grin ear to ear
And say, "Welcome my son Im pleased that youre here
triggerhappy14 3 years ago 5
For this is the place where true flyers come,
When their journey is over and the war has been won
They've come here at last to be safe and alone
From the government clerk and the management clone
Politicians and lawyers the Feds and the noise Where all hours are happy and these good ol boys
Can relax with a cool one and well deserved rest
This is heaven my son, You've passed your last test!"

I thought it was cool how they stopped "Taps" when they flew over, and when the plane broke away they finished it...very touching. :)
