  • @Joeytrom good general Peterson catch haha :)

  • Hello everybody, I would just like you to know that I am posting the whole movie and already have about 45 mins of it.

  • Louise Beavers...under rated actress. Love her ,too!!! Agnes Moorhead gives an incredible performance, as always!!!

  • The guy who was her boyfriend was played by Barton MacLane, who played General Peterson on I Dream of Jeannie.

  • Its weird seeing Lucille ball act so mean! Especially after I love Lucy

  • Lucille was f 'ing hot in this role!

  • Would you be able to post whole movie

  • That last line by Ruby is a humdinger...lol

  • I don't think it has in thing to do with the fact the the woman was black, Lucy's character in this rude to everyone. No matter what color, case closed.

  • Lucy was playing a selfish person thats why she was mean

  • Why would people say Lucy was racist when she's clearly acting with a black woman now? I don't mean to start a racial war but I'm curious. I was born 88 and always LOVED Lucy so when people say "Don't watch her because she was racist" it never made sense to me, and if she was so what?

But I don't think she'd do scenes like this if she were!

  • The end of this movie is quite the "tear jerker."

  • Why were black people so stereotyped in this movie?

  • @kevinjw90 You must be young. All the movies in the 50's and before, stereotyped african-americans, unfortunately. Thats how it was back then. Thankfully, times have changed a whole bunch....peace.

  • do you have this movie?could you put it up?

  • At first I thought it was mean that lucy called her a hippo, but she gave right back. One of those relationships. I want to see this movie now, seems like pretty good stuff. I like Lucy's dramatic acting from a couple of the clips I've watched tonight.

  • @Yobachi2007 Me too :)

  • i know she was in her 40's when she was on I Love Lucy but its weird thinking she did other acting before it!

  • Omg, Her calling Henry Fonda "Droopy". And he's just standing there all young, awkward, and gangly like; "I love you~"

It's especially cute cause he really did love her his entire life. Two of my most favorite actors <3

  • Ee-vaporate! I've always LOVED that line! From what I understand Lucy was very sad when this didn't do so well at the box office. She was extremely proud of this performance (and she should have been).

  • does anybody know were the movie went on youtube? i watched it one time on here but havent seemed to find it since!!!!

  • Please may someone upload the final scene? "Ive tried pinks Ive tried awful hard" Im dying to see that bit, I haven't seen it for years.

  • Gloria: "Are you kiddn?! Go away, I can't stand anymore." LOL .

She's sooo good in this! I love The Big Street and I love Lucy ♥

  • 5 *****

  • wo9w this is just magical

    xxbabsie xxxnick thansk hunni xxxx

  • I got this DVD and I loved Lucille in it! I wish I could find this song somewhere on cd or download, even tho it isn't lucille.

  • lmao ''u can shut ur mouth weve got a guest'' lol funny

  • The guy at 4:15 was in an "I Love Lucy Episode". He sang "I tippy tippy tow through my garden". -- LOL!

  • hahahaha! it is! xD

  • @store275 Mr. Livermoore: Where did you acquire that odd pronunciation? Ricky: I went to school in Cuba--what's your excuse? LMAO

  • Hehehe! And was a sing teacher in "The Lucy Show".

  • Comment removed

  • @store275

I believe that is Hans Conreid. He was a great character actor.

He also played danny thomas' father on Make Room fro Daddy.

Also did cartoon voices on shows like Rocky and Bullwinkle.

  • LOVE that last line that 'Ruby' has..... "Coming YOUR HIGHNESS.. HAAAAAaaa HAAaaaa HAaaaaaaaaa!"

And Lucy was so so so so drop dead gorgeous in this!

  • why did they have to dubb lucy she had a perfectly good singing voice

  • Definitely a voice-over on the singing. Lucy's real voice is so different. But they did pick a woman who sounds a bit like Lucy, if she "was" singing the song. That's funny when she called the Maid a hippo LoL 2:18

  • @pompom11

Personally I cringe when the character calls a black maid all those horrible names.

This was stereotypical of Hollywood in those days. It was horrible to see people who only wanted to act always having to play maids or ignorant shufflin' yesm'm characters ALL the time.As u probably guessed I am Black. But I loved movies from that period. But it is thanks to those black folks playing those roles opening the way for the Halle berrys the denzels and other talentrd black actors.

  • "your highness" no shit!

I think Lucy was being Lucy.

  • I loved Lucy, but I think your right!

  • Lucy was straightforward and direct, but an ultimate softy and sentimental. She was generous, kind, loving, and people always talk about her warmth. This character is not Lucy-Lucy was not rude like this character. haha

  • u kno wat? im 11 and have loved lucy since i was little (well i kinda actually am little)

  • Lucille sure was a swell dame!

  • wow its funny how here she could sing but in i love lucy they made her not to sing thats really good

    i love lucy

  • thats not her singing..she couldnt really sing in real life..its a voice over

  • I think she's sung by herself only a couple times in film.

  • NO SO---- this really was her singing and she had a beautiful singing voice but the world believed she couldn't sing since that was how she was always portrayed on her show.

  • Are you sure? The video description says that Lucy was dubbed by a woman named Martha Mears.

  • I'm 17 and have loved Lucy almost all my life!!!

  • Lucille Ball, glamorous and very pretty can do anything she damn well please. Quite an attractive lady in the 40s and 50s. Don't forget, she started as a model first before going into acting and comedy.

  • hahhahaha i watched this movie on youtube it was awesome!!!!!!!

  • she is soooooooo beautiful

  • Hans Conreid played the waiter. He appeared on several episodes of Lucy's shows.

  • Lucy is soooo gorgeous and she plays the part really well. plse post the whole movie, just dying to see the whole thing

  • Is the host in the clip from the episode of "I Love Lucy" where they get an ethics instructor?

  • You mean the etiquette teacher yes..he wears glasses and has a weird accent and speaking grammatically correct...bc lucy is preggerz and wants the baby to be smart

  • i thought it was funny that Lucille Ball can do everything but sing.guess i was wrong she can really do it all..

she is soo sexy in the video.

  • love how shes so tough.

    its pretty sexy.

  • she was so beautiful

  • ha.come here groupie

  • Jane Fonda looks identical to her father!

  • yes she does, at least we know that he would have made a good looking woman as well as man (elvis is another story)

  • As the Queen of Comedy, she's also a wonderful dramatic actress!!

  • Wow.....She's so beautiful!!!!

  • even her talking voice sounds nice.lol

she prob. had to speak with a pitch higher..

    and singer much much higher.

either way i still love herr.

  • Wow is that really her singing? She sure fooled me in I Love Lucy. She sings beautifully. =]

  • Oh nevermind...I read it was dubbed. =(

  • They didn't have the technology to dub over movie voices in 1942

  • Yeah, but they could do Wizard of Oz in 39 with all the special effects.

    Disconnect your keyboard, please.

  • My mother always told me you have to be able sing well to sing really badly :)

  • wow i never seen this before. shes a wonderful actress!

  • This was Lucy's favorite role in the movies. She SHOULD have been nominated for an Academy Award for this performance!

  • I LOVE Lucille Ball I dont care if i am a teen!!!!!!!!!!!!! She rox!!!! This was 4 yrs after her and Desi were married!!!!

  • Actually they were married in 1940, so it was two years. They were still newlyweds!

  • OOO yea... 1942, is that when the movie is from??? I wouldnt kno... i was born in 1994, so whatevs!

  • Lucy and Desi were married on November 30, 1940. So this movie was made 2 years after they married.

  • That actor who gives Henry Fonda the job at the end of this clip turned up later as the used furniture dealer in the I Love Lucy episode where Lucy wins new furniture from the "Home Show." Hahahaha

  • OH YEAH thats where ive seen him!

  • He is also the language teacher who tries to teach Ricky proper English.

  • She was so underrated as a serious actress, but she was the shit and i think she got an oscar nom for this flick.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhh shes so beauuuuuuutiful!!!!!

  • i wanna see the whole movie i never seen her as any other charactor besides i love lucy

  • i LOVE LuCille Ball She is the greatest Person in WORLD !!!!!!!!! i wished i could have met her and she is like the most worked all the time and still had time for her kids i love hewr and i am going to be her for HALLOWEEN i LOVE YOU LUCILLE BALL

  • actually lucy didnt have much time 4 her kids but i do agree lucy is really great. She is my favorite actress of all time.

  • theh movie is coming on tuner classic movies on thursday and i wont be able to watch it....AH AHA AH AH AH AH!

  • I love seeing her outside of her "Lucy" character...she's amazingly talented

  • they acted again as the stars in Yours Mine and Ours (the original) 26 years after this film.

  • I love that movie! IT is sooo good!

  • Henry Fonda was one fine lookin Man!

    mm mmm mm

  • She seems really mean off the stage (off screen). But she's still my favoraite!

  • to me, this movie shows how good she really was as an actress. The scene down in Florida, when she runs into Mr. Reed, and turns he her down and Pinks tries to comfort Gloria and she rips him a new one, just...You wouldn't think she's the same lady who made you laugh. The scene where she's in the hospital bed, is the best shot of her in the whole movie. and then I cry at the end everytime. Gawd, I wanna see this again!!

  • Ya I just saw this movie and I agree. The scene where she is in the hospital bed the acting is just amazing it looks like she isn't even acting. You can read the expression right in her face.

  • does anybody have the whole movie?

  • This is one of my favorite movies ever, Lucy proved she had a real talent for drama, and Henry Fonda is wonderful. Thanks for posting this:) Ginger

  • I LOVE this movie, my favorite of hers. I thought she was incredible. Agnes Moorehead played well opposite Fonda. I cried at the end. Iaven't seen this in a few years. I'm looking for the DVD!!

  • Its coming out this Tuesday on June 19, 2007. I rented it and actually got it early and saw it yesterday ^_^. I really liked it and also try Ebay people are selling the DVD for pre-order. Good Luck.

  • I want to see this movie so badly but the DVD doesn't come out till June 19th >_> taking a long time for it to be released.

    Thanks for posting this clip.

  • Wow! Is that her real singing voice? Sounds like it could be; will have to investigate. What a beautiful woman she was. Yes, cigarettes kill the voice. Ever see a recent tape of Dionne Warwick? Sad.

  • No, it's not her real voice. Her voice was dubbed by Martha Mears.

  • @binkle1 I knew it was dubbed I was gonna ask by who. Thanks for the info. Lucille Ball was always the first to admit she could not sing. Didn't you see Mame. LOL

  • smoking was norm back then

  • Listen, Hippo,

    Its hair, not spaghetti!!!

  • dvd comes out on june 19.

  • It is! Thanks for the heads up! I love this movie.

  • It's a shame she smoked so much..it really took it's toll, she ended up sounding like a man! Not to mention the wrinkles!

  • This movie was Lucy's personal favorite. It is not mine, however...check out "Stage Door"!

  • Lucille Ball was 31 when she did "Big Street". Her look

would get haggard at around 50 after years of smoking and vodka. But, lots of makeup and special camera work kept her beautiful public image until about 1980.

  • What in the world does this have to do with this particular clip? Some fans act as if Lucille Ball was the only person in existence to age. It's a common occurence. Yeah, Lucy, like many others the world over, fought the losing 'age battle,' but there's no need to bring it up everytime her name is mentioned.

  • awesome movie...although this was was considered to be lucy's most serious roll, i still thought she was funny lol
