Dan made $300.000 a month and it took her 5 years to get a settlement of $30.000 and $16.000 a month. Why should her standard of living go down after 20 years of marriage ? What happened was a tragedy. Dan loved control. He could of given her 50% of his income. He called her a fat beast.They both mentally torchered each other. @1965JLO I watched some of actual video's of her. She is something wrong with her. She didn't express remorse. She plays victim. I also read that the kids said she was worse then the movie protrayed. I don't know it thats true or not. But regardless that is no reason to kill. Also it wasn't like she was left broke. I don't agree he should have to give her 1/2 his salary. She could have moved on with her life. Yeah thats hard but thats what others do. Look what she did to her kids.

A woman is entilled to half of his income. He made 300 thousand a month. She was awarded $16.000. Do you know how expensive it is to live in La Jolla. People do not know the whole story. This man used his legal connections to screw her out of all that she was entilted to. If he would of lived Linda would be gone he would of traded up!

Bottom line what are people "supporting" When i hear people say Betty has "supporters" exactly what are they supporting? Her killing? She didn't get sent to jail because she was abused by her husband, she didn't get sent to jail because of how angry she was, she got sent to jail because she killed him and his second wife. It wasn't worth it. She could have gotten professional help with her anger.

I do understand why she went so crazy but killing them wasnt the right thing to do but no one knows the truth about what went on then, he was a big time lawyer and I think that he used that to his advantage and he push her and she felt like she had no other choice.

@WarRogers She was astonishingly precise in her portrayal of Narcissism! I know because I grew up with a mother SO like Betty, they should have been CONJOINED TWINS! We actually had the same argument as Betty calling the ring Dan gave her crap, my mother called the 9 bags groceries I had brought home SHIT because I couldn't find the kind of ice cream she liked. When the Dr. testifies about 9 traits of narcissistic personalities I knew Betty had all 9! I KNEW IT BECAUSE I LIVED WITH IT!

I remember watching the true crime show Scale of Evil where Michael Stone(don't know exactly what his professional title is) studies criminal cases and then rates them according to certain criteria on how evil the perpetrator is. He rated her a 9 on a scale of 1 to 22. A rating of 9 means that the person has significant psychopathic features. I think he stated even he was surprised he had to give her that rating. It wasn't until after he studied the case that he felt differently about her.

@auntstacey123 When I first started reading about her story, I felt sorry for her. After reading and researching other books and articles over time, I've come to a different conclusion that she is not the victim she portrays herself to be. At first glance, it looks like the typical husband got tired of wife, husband dumps wife for younger trophy girl. You hear that and you block out all the other details of the story and shut your ears to hearing anything else. She planned this over 5 yrs.

She had other chances to get help and get on with her life yet she chose in a calculated, premeditated manner to snuff out the lives of 2 people who while they definitely were not saints themselves, did not deserve this. I myself have been dumped and "scorned" after giving my all to a person who I loved dearly. It was devastating at the time, but sometimes those things happen in life and you have to get over it.

@auntstacey123 People have freewill and if they want to leave you that is their right. You don't kill someone because they no longer want to be with you. I think she was angry and vengeful because she lost her lifestyle. She put her whole identity into being the wife of a high-powered, well-known attorney and when she lost him she lost that identity. That's what happens when you base your whole sense of self on another person.

And this is also why I feel so sorry for these kids; because like you; I think the only reasn my mom was never able to kill my dad is she didn't have access to guns; and (I know this is going to sound mean)but she really was never bright enough anyways to be able to pull anything like this off in the first place

Ok seriously fuck Elizabeth she's an adult not a child, she knows right from wrong. The children are the ones who suffer most because of thi. She couldnt put aside her own revenge, anger & yes she has a right to feel terrible, one can only imaging what she felt like But insted of throwing herself into being a better mother and keeping her children she turned all her attention and energy 2 hate. After spending 20years in jail - she was up for parole this year and was denied parole board said '"Your heart is still bitter, and you are still angry," he said. "You show no significant progress in evolving. You are still back 20 years ago in that same mode. You've got to move on."
