They are all multigenerational but are fluent in both languages. My dad speaks it sometimes his Mexicano father taught him spanish, While his Chicana mother taugh him english.

A muchos latinos en Estados Unidos les pasa eso. Como pasas hablando ingles todo el dia, cuando hablas espa~nol se te lengua la traba un poco pero George esta bastante bien en comparacion a otros.

Lo que pasa es que vives en un pais en el que no se aprecia el hecho de que el Español es hablado en mas paises que otros idiomas. Libros mas importantes que los de Shakespeare han sido escritos en ESP. Pintores, poetas, actores etc son no solo de España sino desde la Habana hasta la punta mas al sur de Chile.
En EEUU escuchan apellidos como Rodriguez o Sanchez y lo unico que se les ocurre es beisbolistas. Cuando un gabacho oye español inmediatamente piensa en el que le limpia la casa o le cuida los niños (people that earned their place in heaven with their hard work).
El ser latino en EEUU todavia es dificil, yo estudie un año alli. Yo creo que si los latinos supieran toda la riqueza cultural de la que son dueños por hablar español se sentirian mas orgullosos de venir de lugares como Bolivia, El Salvador, Santo Domingo etc...
