Can anyone tell how i can find "Stuck inside a mobile with the memphis blues again", BUT the version thats playing in the beginning of this film? NOT the upbeat one by Cat Power, but the upbeat version playing in the beginning credits...the one with Bob Dylan's voice.
I saw this movie yesterday, and I have to say that it was one of the greatest films I have ever seen, every aspect of it was incredibly creative and original. The acting was on oscar winning level for every actor, with special mention to Cate, who delivers one of the most compelling and interesting roles she has ever played. Bravo!!!!!
wtf??what really annoys me is not the fact that green day happens to be my favorite band and a bunch of assholes talk shit about them, but the fact that GREEN DAY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS VIDEO! this is an interview about the film. so instead of talking shit about bands, why don't you discuss about the god damn movie??
this is the only time i've ever heard Heath Ledger say of a film he was in that: "every inch of film I'm so proud of" - he had so many more great films to make.
Green Day has meant a lot to people that grew up in the ninetees. It's not punk like what the Clash did in the seventies, but music has developed since then. It's music for another generation, inspired by those punk bands of the seventies. As for the whole gay thing. Why use the word gay as an offense?Gay is cool, gay is wonderful, gay kicks ass. I applaud all gay people! I highly recommend all ignorant homophobes to go watch some episodes of Queer as folk. You need to be enlightened.
Well, you know, Dylan only changed the course of popular music forever and he at least he has a life worth living and something that (sorry) Green Day never will: TALENT.
Also to the guy who wants a RHCP/Green Day movie, I believe those bands have had no worthy experiences/ interesting stories to be told on film, instead theyre caught up into a wave of commercialism. Dylan is the perfect for a movie as he has an essence about him, and his actions are almost tangible not only to your parents but to us as well
blame my crummy standalone dvd-recorder - have a better version now but it takes so long to upload anything to youtube, is it worth it? mostly put this up because of the extra footage which is used, you get to see the shootout at Newport, hilarious.
Wow, why did you even comment Dschultz, its not worth it. Maybe you should listen to your dad, for once and learn more about him, and 1 rolling stone was deff not his only hit, he had about 30!
and to movie on green day or the chilli peppers....were you joking, seriously is that a joke? cause if its not then you really should reconsider your life and the way its going, that you consider gay rock bands for a movie. Whos green day, no one cares!
Thanks to some kind of providence not everybody is as ignorant as you are my dear friend. Bob Dylan is one of biggest musicians of all times, brilliant lyrics, excellent music and a huge talent. In addition his words will never get ancient or old fashioned because his poetry just doesn't care about time
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i always hear my dad speak of this Dylan guy, but I figured he was much too old to be relevant anymore -- why are they making a movie about him, just becuz he had that one "rolling stone" hit (which is terribly overrated in my opinion)
next time hollywood should make a movie about an artist that matters, like Red Hot Chlli Peppers or Green Day ...anyone with me ?!
You're right. I don't think Dylan is a genius either. Why can we call him one and we can't call someone with a talent for drawing well a genius? That's what Dylan did. He also had a charisma in his music and his way he pronounced things that made his words even more beautiful.
Dylan wasn't a genious. Not to say though that Dylan's way with words wasn't a gift, a gift definately, he has a gift. I feel I will be similar to Dylan later on. It's not something to explain alot though, it's a fragile thing. Dylan's was fragile and people have broken it by twisting it around so much with their prior beliefs. It's so pointless. Dylan's art is a feeling you get, not an interpretive subject, that just takes away the whole point.
Green Day is a punk band. They still are. Punk changed and continues to change. Not to say one can't go back and play music styled off the glory years of punk music. The Exploding Hearts are a great example of this.
So that's why The Clash were on CBS, why the Sex Pistols were on EMI, The Jam were on Polydor, and why Iggy Pop & The Stooges were on RCA? The Ramones' label got bought out by EMI in 1991 and none of them fought to escape their contracts. They all weren't punk? The mainstream brings your message to a broader audience. Stop being self-defeating and embrace it.
Mainstream is to do with your music and your audience, not a light weight subject like the label you're on. Green Day plays music for elementary school kids. Groups like The Clash found a way to rebel against certain aspects of society they didn't trust through their music. Anyway, that's what I feel punk is, labels like that really aren't important though. It's just when people talk about Green Day as being punk it will put them on the same level as The Clash which they are no where near.
Dude, can you pedal forwards as fast as you do backwards? A punk band on a major label back in the 70's wasn't a "light weight subject" at all. The entire punk rock genre was founded on DIY ethics and hatred for large corporations. Have you even listened to The Clash before? Your description of them as rebels tells me otherwise. Hell, have you listened to even half of the bands I listed previously? For that matter, have you even heard anything else from Green Day other than American Idiot?
I've listened to The Clash many times. I didn't call them rebels though. They did rebel against aspects of society through their music though. Don't you think? Spanish Bombs, Jimmy Jazz, London Calling, those certaintly put forward ideas greater than anything Green Day has put out. As for what is mainstream I don't think what people considered important forms any definition of mainstream. And large corporations are definately not all punk was based on. Whatever means more to you though.
your gay, green day is punk. just cause you go mainstrem and get succesful doesn;t mean your not punk. ass. gay bands like my chemical romance are not punk. green day, afi = punk. you faggot
I don't mean mainstream as in the bands success. Their music is written for little kids. That's what I hear when I listen to it. Punk to me is something original, that just doesn't quite fit with the typical taste of society. But I don't really even know what the word society is. Look, punk can mean whatever the hell it means to anyone, just like anything else. Was Bob dylan folk? Maybe to you or someone else he was. I don't know. But I think of punk music being something else.
punk has been dead since the 70's. true "punk" musicians don't know how to read music/play instruments. it's an expressionist movement, but you wouldn't know that as you like your rock n roll spoonfed. now quick, call me a faggot.

Green Day and AFI were punk.
Neither of them sadly are no.
They're both lacking elements of music that had previously made them great punk bands.
Also, Bob Dylan is still the greatest lyricist of all time.
