Homeworld Siege Station Space Battle

Most of the missiles seem to come from the missile destroyers, esp. see the bombardment around 8 minutes. This is the longest range unit I recall seeing for this game, was it 12000 range while in the plain game the longest range are battlecruiser main guns that go to 7000. The punch of those missiles isn't great, but if you build say 4 of those destroyers you have some real firepower which you can apply to far, far away targets.

I'm rather moved that this mod still has fans posting videos after so many years :) Yes I think it's a quite nice mod. There's also some other superb mods for Homeworld 2 that have been even greater and even more popular. And yes, you'll have to buy Homeworld 2 to play these mods. Thanks for the vid!

It's incredible that a 1999 game can pull off better graphics then most games produced in our modern day, I love Homeworld and it really DOES NOT feel like an older game, knowing my opinion on it now, I wonder what it was like to those who played it during its first days out. My favorite feature of the whole deal is that this really FEELS like space, not just a pathetic 2d isometric attempt at it.

@genralr12 The ships in this video actually resemble the TEC of Sins quite well. Sins however has the typical alien race and the human/alien hybrid as well. In almost all fiction(BSG, Halo, etc.) humans construct bulky and tough ships whereas aliens use sleeker, more organic designs that use curves and shields. By all means Sins follows the feel of space ships very closely, thus it's more likely your view of "how space ships should look" is a personal opinion more than a general one. Don't hate.

I fire up Homeworld 2 for tight involved gameplay where good placment of ships and good decsions can make the difference between an epic victory or a bad defeat and I play Sins of a Solar Empire for large scale grand battles which take 8 hours + where you have to balance your credits, metal and crystal well or you risk getting overrun by pirates or the enemy factions.

I don't know why people are comparing Sins to homeworld, they play completley diffrently and they are both excellent.

@GunWillRun Agreed- one goes far closer to the 4X style, not to mention has a feeling of 'Supreme Commander in Space' (more focus on the taking and holding of territory and economic balance, as well as massive scale warfare), while the other is the epitome of Space Fleet Strategy. Comparing them is like trying to compare Supreme Commander (not the sequel!) to StarCraft.

the main mod I would recommend would be the "point defense systems" mod. It basically ups the number of weapons and effects in game. Making the game even more graphically intense.
