We the Hmong fought the Communist Pathet lao and North Vietnam a long side with the CIA.

  • We were classmates at Beecher High School. He was always clowning around. But, he was a decent guy and never in trouble. I never would have thought he could be this brave. He died too young.

  • Hackney was a PJ Instructor when I went through PJ training at Hill AFB in 1971. Treated us badly, as did all the Instructors. We looked at them as Gods.

  • My grand afther, Lt. Col. Richard Damon, receied a purple heart for being shot down in Vietnam. He was rescued by the South Vietnamese forces who were in a shootout with the NVA over his capture. He said they were both wereing black pajamas and they were both telling him to come to their side, and he had to make a choice. I suppose go to the guys who are definitely not shooting AT you! LOL. RIP... ; ( I miss u Papa...

  • I was stationed with CMSGT Hackney from 1987-1993 when I first enlisted in the USAF he was my 1st SGT when he was a E7 and then my Chief after that. Super guy and one of the best story teller's ever I was crushed when he passed and was unable to attend his funeral as I was over seas at the time. I travel back to Michigan every couple of years to see friends and alway's make time to go and visit theChief. He taught me alot about being a good NCO and how to lead my troops. John
