First. get it out of your heads that this is a Tarja or a Nightwish original song. It isn't. The only original of this song is in the movie The Snowman, where it is sung by a treble. Paul Auty. It is a song written for a child's voice. The only solo female singer to give a great performance of this song is Chloe Agnew of Celtic Woman. Tarja's voice is completely wrong for it and the heavy metal backing is just plain awful. I give minus 5 for this performance.

It's Howard Blake's. NW got the rights from him. And Tarja probably did the same. They can't just take other people's songs and record them.

Honey, the fact the original song was a ballad has nothing to do with the fact she changed the arrangements. Actually, with the heavy riffs and all, the Nightwish version was, musically, closer to the original sound of it. She gave a totally new atmosphere to the song, which I can't say I deeply dislike, it's just quite different and it will take some time to get used to, if I ever will.
