Most of the rest of Europe used a variation of the term "Nativity" (birth). Hence, Spanish speakers say "Feliz Navidad."

Later in the West, they tied it to the first Sunday following the first full moon of Spring (roughly equivalent to 14 Nissan) while the East used 14 Artesemios (under their calendar) which was equivalent to April 6.

Just want to say that Augustine shared in common with Justin the belief that demons if not naturally represented by the gods were at least orchestrating their representation.

This can be easily found to be Augustines view throughout his writings in The City of God Against the Pagans when he discusses the gods, for example in Book 6.6.

I'm not sure Robert Price does know better.

He thinks there is a parallel between Jesus being laid out on the ground as a baby (as he translates the Nativity story) and a pagan story about a baby, who is actually a king, being exposed on the ground. If a "scholar" of the NT period doesn't know what exposing a baby means and, even worse, finds a parallel between that and Jesus then I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt on Justin Martyr.
