Alone in the Dark was a revolutionary game, it was released way before Resident Evil (which ripped off most of its ideas) and yet Res Evil always gets the credit for the whole survival horror genre!

@canis77 Well I've always considered Alone In The Dark to be the "Granddaddy of all Survival Horrors", much like DOOM is considered to be the "Granddaddy of all First Person Shooters."
