Check out Extinct if you don't know it already. It's like this song, only less brutal and more stripped down. It's from the very early days of Nile, cool if you like your metal a bit lighter than this
@ExecutiveDmitri Not worthy? Of you? Can a man be worthy of wading through shit? Such would be the equivalence of enduring your presence. Be off you low life!
@ExecutiveDmitri It's cool, man. Haha. I'm not going to go all apeshit on you for not liking Nile. Death metal is an acquired taste, and some people need to understand that not everyone likes it. Music like this puts some metalheads in a good mood, including me. Whatever works for you. :)
@ExecutiveDmitri i wonder if you listened to the whole song, or just the first two seconds before you made the judgement. im not saying if not you should listen to the whole to get a better opinion, just that its funny if you tortured yourself for 10 minutes
@0ooscar Well, I have to say, I'm quite hungry, give me one of those fruitcakes please :) xD Nah, just kidding, I can eat myself too, lolz, I'm a fruitcake too xD
@elvisman2000 haha i realize that, i was just throwing it out there that the most epic Norse mythology band and the most epic Egyptian mythology should go head to head.....if it would even be possible
@OrganzdAnarchy hehehe, I see the point. Amon Amarth and Nile are both one of my fav bands, but Nile is the thing :p I only have one album of Amon Amarth and all albums of Nile :P Nile is truly my favorite band!
@Dadutta Have you read the lyrics? When all belief in Gods disappears they cease to exist and thus die. In this song, he describes Amun's temple, abandoned and desolate, a shallow shade of its past grandeur. If there is no one that believes in a God then that God will die.
@Dadutta Always quick to throw the insult, aren't you? For your information, I own the entire Nile discography so far and I am well aware of the lyrics to "Cast down the Heretic". It's just that this song has nothing to do about heretics.
@duvall375 I've heard Electric Wizard and I'd say Nile is still heavier because EW is maybe a little bit too sludgy, it doesn't have that 'punch' to it, you know?
@Caconymic well they're doom metal, not death metal so it's probably not going to be as punchy, but taking a few bong hits and listening to a 10 minute song of really slow and heavy riffs is still fucking awesome.

@PharaohJed "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
@Benteiron Greetings, yes I agree I would not want a religion forced upon me, that is mainly why I have pulled away from some religions such as Christianity, I am a pagan :) as far as the afterlife goes, I question that myself, I wonder what it will really be like or even if there is one which makes me have my doubts on religion in general but I have that faith, anyways you have some good thoughts
@Wyndrax there doesnt have to be proof, most religions are built off of faith, and honestly who gives a fuck about someones religion, as long as its not Christianity we are fine :D
@NiflheimxMusic Yeah :P Though i wouldnt personally want any other religion forced on myself. Im an agnostic, Im pretty sure that if there is a god or several none of the religions have got their nature completely right. Also the question if afterlife exists and what is it like is something Im actually very interested, not enough to kill myself though :P I´m a bit on the buddhist/hindu side in that, seeing as many people have had experiences of remembering their earlier lives.
this is probably one of the only death metal songs/bands i will ever enjoy,
by the way, i was reading the comments to this video, people are saying they are athiest and Egyptian Gods do not exist, first off if you are truely an athiest you deny any gods, you can not claim that there is only a christian god and what not if you are still an athiest, if your are an athiest you deny belief in ALL GODS, and let someone believe in Egyptian Gods, I am a norse pagan, if you dont like it fuck you
There's more definitions of God than the Judeo-Christian/Islamic one. There's tons of things that go beyond the realm of science to explain. Don't be so closed-minded. It's impossible to prove or disporve either side of the argument, so anyone who zealously supports one idea and completely denounces the other is a dumbass.
@cynestol9 I don't see the point of calling "god" anything other than the judeo-christian/islamic one. Zeus, Odin, pretty much all of the other "gods" are basically childish, selfish, human-like beings whose existence, as you said yourself, can't be proven to be real or false.
i don't know why people talk about religion and stuff on the metal channel it doesn't matter what you believe it matters about the music even though there are plenty of interpretations about it...

@Kaleo64 I think this is Nile's best work so far... well I haven't heard Those Whom The Gods Detest but alot of people I know loved this album... don't see why it's detested at all. What may be safely written is still my favourite song of Nile's and I pretty much like most of the songs on Ithyphallic
This song really showcases Nile's love for their work. Some bands seem to need to rush through their own music, but Nile isn't afraid of taking their time to really churn out an atmosphere.
I think Nile sound heaviest when they take it down a notch. It's like a village of peasants running from an avalanche of crushing boulders...
@iamqqqqqqq so true. Nile's love for their work is really genuine which is rare and a very nice thing to see. I like the peasant-boulder analogy. Well-said.

Well-said.
