  • Why do republicans call our (Canadien) health care free; It's not, nothing is free, every thing is paid for with tax payers money! The government dos'nt pay, they just manage the finances.

  • If it's a matter of life and death you are admitted instantly in Canada. I went to the ER with incredible pain in my abdomen, i suspected it was my appendix. The ER was pretty packed when i came in but i saw a nurse in the first 15mins of bein there, and they saw how serious it was and I was sedated and in surgery within hours. Home 2 days later with all the medication I need. Cost me a grand total of.......18$. That was the cost of renewing my health insurance after i finished school.

  • one thing they didnt say is that she didnt include is that the bill of 100 000 $ was sent to ohip and was paid by our goverment. if that was someone in the states they probly would of died or of been broke after surgery like that lol fox is a piece of shit station anyone who watches this for news and believes it isan unintelligent fuck

  • The way I understand is this:

America system gives you faster care if you have the money to pay.

Because Canada system is cheaper, it can cover a lot more people than American and these people don't go bankrupt as soon as they end up in the emergency. But the huge number of people insured = more people in hospital = more delay.

I still like Canada system better. I don't mind the delay as long as I don't get bankrupt as soon as something happen.

  • what if u die before u get bankrupt??

  • It is usually the opposite way...

if it was the way you are describing, then we don't need any more health care policy and we can let the insurance increases the cost...

  • @yes4me yea i know

  • Anyone watch the Frontline episode Sick Around The World? The episode takes a look at various countries and their health care plans. What is funny is that in England they were looking at doing a for profit system. There were little old ladies holding signs saying "No to US Style Health Care."

In Japan, the cost to stay in a hospital room: $100/night.

A Swiss medical official was asked: How many people go to the poor house because of medical bills?

    His answer: None (shocked).

  • What do Canadians think of this Canadian woman in this report? In America she is being touted by Republicans in commercials that Canadian health care sucks & she would have died if she didn't leave the country for care..the commercial fails to include infor that the bills were over $100K & that she was able to have the surgery b/c she could pay for it in the US. But in Canada, she would have gotten the surgery for free.If an American needed the surgery & didn't have the money they would be SOL

  • Its A Bunch of bull. A family friend of mine lived in canada but moved to the US. a year later she was diagnosed with cervical cancer unfortunatly it was already in the forth stage so there was no possible chance of her surviving. But she moved back to canada because she could not afford the hospital bills. The hospital did not make her wait on any surgeries or anything. Unfortunatly like i said it was caught to late and she passed on last summer :(

  • @GettingtotheTruth2 .... Being Canadian, I can say that are Health care system is "ok".. Pro's and Con's.. Iv never had to pay for anything, and never had to wait long. The problems with it is this: (My opinion) The Canadian heath care system was not free about 40 years ago, and many of the quality doctors from that time have retired. The new generation of doctors don't seem to care as much or have the same skills.. It's getting worse as the culture changes...

  • i live in Vancouver Canada, recently i fractured my tibia in my left leg. went to emergency waited 2 hours (big deal) got exrays, surgery and went home same day all for free. in the U.S. i would have paid aprox 10-20 grand. haha i laugh at you fuckin stupid ignorant americans and your fucked up belief that socialized health care is bad. you guys are fucked with 42 million without any coverage at all.

  • At Cedars Sinai (an Los Angeles hospital that you may see occasionally in the news because some celebrity or another is checked in or giving birth), the 3 times in the past 13 years that I've visited the ER the average wait time (ranging from food poisoning to ankle sprain) has been 8 hours to be SEEN by the doctor. The longest time from checking in to finally leaving the ER was 14 hours. Even WITH having insurance, my bill average was over $5000.

  • Because I haven't been able to afford the physical therapy to fully rehabilitate by hands and ankle (that occurred during the job), I've had additional medical issues from the original injuries. And as a result of not being able to do work properly, has not been able to work and expect to not be able pay my health insurance starting this month and therefore, soon become a member of the 42 million who no longer has coverage.

  • I never waited at a hospital/clinic for over 10 minutes, and I live in Canada, I think I should know

  • This is a steaming heap of shit. For the millions of uninsured Americans who have no health insurance AND lack wealthy friends and family to foot the bill the brain tumor would be a death sentence. The delay for brain and knee surgery for them is INFINITE.

People with access to money will always have access to the best of everything first. Lets stop worrying about them and consider everyone else.

I dream of shitting on selfish fucks who wish to reserve medical care for the rich.

  • I take it you haven't seen a community health care center where welfare recipients line up for nearly half a mile every morning for medical treatment. Here in Oklahoma City, we have several within 5 to 7 miles of each other and they're all packed to the walls. Funny thing is that most of them are driving nicer vehicles than I am. I guess if I weren't paying 280 a month on insurance then I could afford a Navigator. I dream of shitting on people who milk the system while I'm out busting my ass.
