Response to the Bible vs. The Book of Mormon

Mormons are taught to give their TESTIMONY it goes something like this: I HAVE A BURNING IN MY BOSSOM. This is a PAT ANSWER something they are taught to say in a response that is a way they can defend their beliefs and is suspose to make everything valid no matter what. When I have a Burning in my Bossom I take ROLAIDS and it GOES AWAY! THE BIBLE is the answer; the Book of Mormon is FALSE. When you modify/change the Word of God to suit YOUR BELIEF STRUCTURE YOU ARE A CULT!

For when we die we all go to purgatory, where people are going to be teaching different religions from now to the beginning of time. It is important to gain your testimony in the here and now, without a body the only thing we can use in the afterlife (Before resurrection) is our mind, If you have no testimony you will be swayed from one to another. Did I get to deep to fast?

@FormerMPSGT I can go even further and say that the 1/3ed of heaven that is considered to be fallen angels (the devil and his dominion) are also going to be part of that purgatory. If you want to talk about temptation wait until they can actually preach to you (In spiritual form) face to face. Point being there is going to be compelling arguments each and every way you can turn, thus having a strong testimony will aid against such things when we die. God lives, Jesus, and H.G. Lives

This rebuttle is a joke. notice it doesn't list their credentials. Senior scholar, scholar of mesoamerican study. I guess i can just call myself a youtube scholar then. If there were scholarship about the book of mormon to begin with non mormon expert that actually have real academic credentials would know, cause it would be the first time any provable evidence has been found. Actually there has been new shoclarship on the B of M, and that is the DNA evidence that has ended the debate

Good responses here. Just words, no proof, or disproof rather of the evidence against the book of mormon. I understand though why they felt they needed to create this response. Because of all the mormons that were saying, "uh oh, the truth is out. what do we say now?"

tell me..why does one not find the words "essence" or "substance" in the bible when you speak of the GODHEAD being ONE GOD...those words are NOT found in the bible in ANY of the original languages..it is EXTRA-BIBLICAL..that means outside of the bible.

...if one has to believe that ONLY a belief in the bible will save you..then would you then say the CHRISTIANS of the first 3 centuries then do not qualify..um..since the bible was not yet CANONIZED. The writings of the bible originally consisted of 80+ books before the canon of today..and even then you "protestants" changed the bible..you reject the books in the Catholic bible - the original bible.

All I hear in your video is how wrong the presenters if the original video are. OK. If that is true, put another video here and show hard evidence of:

locations identified i the BOM.

Ruins of the massive cities.

Evidence of Hebrew 'anything'. Writing, drawings, carvings.

Evidence of the last battle where thousands and thousands of men died in New York.

If you can show proof of any of this..then you can say people are lying about Joseph Smith.

They bascally tried to prove the book of mormon false according to findings or lack of findings. why dont you try to prove the Book of Mormon TRUE according to what you know. Mormonism is Pelagianism, it is salvation by works. How do Mormons dispute that we are saved by grace through faith, which is not of ourself? They can't just discredit Paul. The thing that most distinguishes true Christianity from all other religions, is its reliance not on works but on the saviour. Its not about what I can do, or doing all I can do and then hoping Jesus can make up the diff. It is casting all my sins and righteousness away and relying on the righteousness of Jesus.

People, FAIR or FARMS are not any less scholarly than those people who spout their partisan propaganda that Petersen & Tvedtnes are critiquing. There are plenty of evidences for the *plausibility* of BofM. But even if you started finding Nephite inscriptions around somewhere, that would *not* prove the book to be the word of God. That comes through prayer to a sincere heart. "...no man knoweth the things of God but the Spirit of God." (Paul in 1 Cor 2:11)

I don't understand that the defense here seems to be that these people who made this film and not up to date with the latest explinations of the LDS scholars. The answers and explinations should not CHANGE over time that is why people bring up age old arguments because founders of the faith followed practices that they now deny as truth. I challenge you to look up Jericho. Look at the pictures. Look at the monuments, cities, technology from the Bible.

Then... Compare that to what we have in the Book of Mormon.

FAIR is really not too 'fair', their skewed point of view reeks of bias and un-established facts.

Daniel Peterson is my favorite. When he makes claims about ancient history or archeology and tries to tie it into the Book of Mormon as a 'possibility' is too laughable.

I would agree with what the earlier gentleman said about disputes about historical data backing up the legitimacy of the bible... but he didn't give one.... not even one... example of how the guys who made the video were wrong about the lack of archiological or historical evidence to back up the book of Mormon.
