@fumetti I think it's really because of the provocative manner in which he's acting ( played his role a little too good here, ya know ? ),.. and the drag and hitler mustache probably had a little to do with it too. I think the first drag music video was Bowie's Boys Keep Swinging which, I'm aware, they'd also banned at first ( before Culture Club and The Eurythmics became popular ).

@fumetti I think it was probably his provocative manner more than anything ( played his role here a bit too well, ya know ? ),.. and the Hitler mustache and drag might've helped a lttle too. I remember that David Bowie had a drag video too, at roughly this same period ( Boys Keep Swinging ), which was also banned initialy,... THEN Boy George and The Eurithmics ( neither of whom I'm a particular fan of , but ... ) came along, hit it big and made it alright.

Its progress, however, was surely retarded by MTV's refusal to screen the accompanying video; directed by David Lynch, the shoot took place in a cabaret-style nightclub, with a corset-and-stockings-clad Ron performing a slow, seductive striptease. Sparks' fans had long grown accustomed to the keyboard player's passing resemblance to a certain Adolf Hitler. MTV was less understanding.

VH1 Classic isn't available "in my country", and Spike has only half part of the video.

Apparently it's the same file name - at Vh1, Spike and MTV websites - so I figure that's the same half video for all those sites, not full version. Still looking for it, want to know how the story ends! ;)
