i actually went out and bought one of those.. i played it for like 89 seconds, and couldn't take any more, i Actually took my Atari, and coleco-shit out side, lit it on fire.. and burned it... :l hell, watching telitubies is more interesting...
Realize that when this was new: 8-tracks were still common (and more expensive than records), most vehicles ran on leaded gasoline, the Vietnam war hadn't been over for more than a year or two (tops), and Polaroid cameras were all the rage.
Made by the same people that 3 years later after this commerical aired, would make the system that claims to the fact that "Your Vision Is Our Vision--ColecoVision"!!!
Holy crap! We were just cleaning out my folk's garage a few weeks ago and I found this console! Haven't hooked it up yet to see if it still works, but just watching this makes me want to!
@Snotnarok They started out in 1932 with leather, but expanded into video games in the mid 1970s. I'm sure the leather bit the dust shortly thereafter, if not during the Colecovision's time.
yup. Pong was the big thing. Video games that weren't like pong failed. Video games like pong were successful. That's because Pong rocks and is the best (besides Plasma Pong, Warlords, and Breakout)
@UltimaChaos298 Yes every game back then was a variant of pong....and 30 years from now someone will be watching old commercials of games we play and say "is everything a variant of DOOM?!"
You know how Video Game Companies tend to rip off what ever the biggest hit of the year is, well it just so happened Pong was the biggest hit in Video Game history upto that point so yeah EVERYONE and their grandmother had to have some variation of Pong and it led to the first Video Game Market Crash in 1977
This might of convinced me to go out and buy one

Did everyone make a pong clone or something? I've even seen some by Hanimex (a company best known for photo-slide projectors, of all things!).

@whattheheck1000 Well that's what the name stands for as far as I know, very strange company by the sounds of it.

Pretty much, especially when the "Pong on a chip" came out. There were countless cheap pong clones flooding the market.
