Because this is a "kit car," would one be able to put in the Powerstroke 6.7l V8 (400 hp and 800 ft/lbsof torque) with Ford's 6R140 transmission? If so, then this car would be unbeatable and unrivaled by anything else on the market!
WANT IT WANT IT WANT IT... but liberties' diesel engine I'm not that sure... those power plants didn't stick around for that long which makes me wonder a bit...as to why exactly did they phase them out that fast.. anyone know why? please let me know.
I wish they'd get a v8 or at least a beefier v6 for the regular Wranglers. The 3.8 in the wrangler now is kind of a pansy on the highway. I know it's aimed more for torque (but it can't even chirp the tires) and has the aerodynamics of a brick, but a 0-60 run of 10+ seconds and 17MPG highway seems pretty lame for a brand new car or even a truck. Supposedly they're getting a new engine this year, so we'll see how that goes.
Wow, I wish they would stick to facts instead of making things sound better then they are. It's built with Jk wrangler parts which has solid axles front and rear it makes it sound like those are added on bonuses. The Dana 60 rear maybe. 50,000 for a low end pickup....crazy just to have something different.
i love this thing! it looks great, but i think they should put a good i6 into them as another engine option, lets face it, the 2.8 diesel is good on gas, but weak, and the 5.7 is very powerful but also very thirsty, so build a 4.0l'ish i6 and get a good median between them make jeep great again!
@tallzdatank no offense, but then you should go buy an unlimited wrangler (lj) 1997-2006 and swap a dana 44 front and dana 60 rear into it and take out the back seat. save yourself some $ for that matter.
@deanschool yea but if jeep wanted to sell NEW vehicles its one suggestion i think they should look into. honestly start using the good of the old vehicles and some of the good in the new ones combine the 2 and make an excellent rig.
@tallzdatank Are you serious?? the diesel is weak? It puts out 339 ft pounds at 1600 RPMs @23 MPG highway.. you know what RPMs are, right? 5.7 Hemi cranks out 390 ft pounds at ~4000 RPMS @ a realistic 17 MPG..... you know don't really know much about engines. So the diesel puts out 87% torque of the gas option at half the displacement with much better fuel economy. Hell the 3.0 diesel puts out 410 foot pounds and still gets better fuel economy. High TQ, low RPM, high MPG = WIN for an offroad rig
I like the jk a tad bit more, But i would kill to have that hemi, but then agin its out of my price range cause for the price i would pay for that i could buy a Rubicon and put new bumpers tires and rims.
kinda silly. The great thing about the Wrangler is it's short wheelbase for getting around the narrow trails. For military, I can see the point (although the straight axles kill the clearance), but why would a civilian buy this?
If you look into the history of AMC/Jeep you will discover they made a longer wheelbase CJ. Called the Scrambler, or CJ 8. Not popular during it's time in the early to mid 80's but now it is in high demand. Ride comfort is better than the shorter wheelbase CJ7 and allows for more toys or passengers in the back.
Yes, and AMC/Jeep made the CJ6 which was also a longer wheelbase than the CJ8.. Although they never caught on, I love seeing one every now and then. Also you can buy these cars from Chrysler-Fiat any time you want.. the only downside is that you have to build it yourself and you have to get it inspected to the standards of the state you live in. AEV builds them for you.. If your more mechanically inclined just get the Kit and build it yourself. You'll save quite a bit of money.
he said "all purpose military vehicle" and the description is MilSpec (military spec), of course with that spec it's only for diehard fans, you can order a mounted 50 caliber machinegun as an option though.
Yeah I got that jeep thing... Now it burns when I pee. Sorry... I had to say it. Not a big fan of the newer Jeeps, but AEV does AMAZING things with the new ones.
