  • Love this song!

  • gavla....

  • i've always written these guys off for having what i considered a silly name but i saw them mentioned in such high esteem that i had to check it out and holt shit oh my FUCKING GOD. it took me 7 seconds to love this song then it just kept getting better. I have so much catching up to do, this band is amazing.

  • @smackythefirst

mate also try muse their awesome' and similar to this

  • @sausagesanwich1 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no its not. They haven't made music this good since Absolution. And idk to me they're a little more straightforward than these guys.If you're going for similar please please look into Cynic and Tool, they are both groups of some of the best musicians on the planet.

  • @smackythefirst

THUMBS THIS UP IF U LUV MUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • aural sex.

  • What's this white thing coming out of my ears?

  • ITS A NEEEEEEEEWWWW DAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!

  • I just did a vocal cover to this song. Will you guys please check it out and let me know what you think? Search "Karnivool - New Day (VOCAL COVER) Trent Arant" on youtube. Or you can just go to my channel. Thanks! ;)

  • put simply...Awesome.

  • Brilliant song.Amazing group.Respect from Italy

  • good music sounds the same in every language

  • yes people are entitled to their own opinions but i find it hard to understand how people can dislike something like this that takes talent

  • @RighteOusChicKen This is a 2009 song.

  • @QingLong90 No you mean... it's a 2012/2013 song ;) Get it lol?

  • This song is pretty cool...

(sry understatement of the CENTURY!!!!!!) XD

  • @IntegraTron2010 True enough. It also depends on how you view them. For a while, I saw a few of the closely resembling bands like some I mentioned, as different albums of one large artist group. Besides, if your into the music you'll pick up on the nuances between the more similar artists and except them for it. But thats my opinion. At the end of the day I see it all as "if you like the song, listen to it" Very simple notion that many people seem to have trouble with.

  • there is six people that are dumb AND stupid

  • I'm starting to get the feeling that the meaning of this song may be somewhat in the medium by which it is played/sung. For example, the build up almost leading to a more passionate part but dropping into the same calm feel of the beginning and (importantly) saying "It's a new day." I'm not quite sure and I'm still analyzing the meaning (I'm far from a solid idea or conclusion of theme). If you have any ideas please tell me.

  • I love every moment in this song, I could listen to it over and over

  • MASTERPIECE... that is all.

  • Definitely give Delusion Twin a listen if you're into Themata-era Karnivool.. they're from Brisbane, and pretty damn promising

  • @ 7CellarDoors Couldn't have said it better myself. All those great musicians who actually write there own music, not just say some words, and pay somebody else do it all for them. A few underground musicians have made it though, look at gotye.

  • birds of tokyo? fuckn similar i dig it tho.

  • @chrispine71 Its actually the same singer, that's why =P

  • That build up is perfect

  • Very talented band.

  • love this song!<3

  • Wow. Im lost of words, so beautiful

  • Can anybody tell me what is going on between 3:30 and :40? I'm sure I hear some kind of vocal layer, delayed, and REALLY in the background (I'm a sound engineer, thus I use "audiophile" headphones)... I just don't understand what it says.

  • @aazgash theres no vocal delay or anything. dont know what you're hearing. there is 2 guitars on delay (one background chords fingerpicking style, and one with melody). a bass and a lead guitar with weird feedback. no vocals

  • @JTbassist09 aazgash is actually right, there's vocals on the background, but it's impossible to make out the words

  • @JTbassist09 listen again, there is something alright, I can hear it even with my poor headphones. Sounds like spoken vocals. Or maybe only the delay part of the vocals or sth?

  • @JTbassist09 There clearly is a delayed vocal there. I can hear it on my shitty laptop speakers.

Gotta listen better if you want to be a part of the music industry, man.

  • @JTbassist09 na i can hear some sort of whispered vocal as well

  • @JTbassist09 There actually are some faint vocals. They're pretty easy to hear

  • @JTbassist09

there is a whisepering sound, thats cool i guess?

  • @JTbassist09 You're wrong, there is a delay in another one of the vocal layers during that part. Probably intended that way by the artist.

  • @JTbassist09 Na dude, there is definitely Vocals there, I've always wondered too. Check it on your album if you can't hear it on here.

I've tried listening to it, and figuring it out. But it's hard, haha. All I know is that I love that layering. Sooo much depth in this song, I'm still hearing new things on this Album, 2 years on.

  • Best crafted song on this album. Insane.

  • @JTbassist09 I hope you are not in the musictechnology business mate...

  • @aazgash it's some kinda whispering.... can't hear out more... :/

  • @horoghV Me neither. But I'm sure it's there.

  • @aazgash I hear it. I'm also an engineer/musician.

  • @dreamlikestatus Thank you :) I was hoping I don't hallucinate :)

  • @aazgash yeah, like with a phaser effect, i hear it. but can't understand a thing, tho...

  • @aazgash i hear it too, the little whispers in the back at about 3:36. i swear he says something about ' special space.

    '

  • @RAWKINTHEFRAGGLE Thanks, it seems we're getting closer :)

  • @aazgash I can hear it, too. It is whispering. No possibility to understand the lyrics.

  • @aazgash yeah i hear it too, its like random words spoken.... nice to know im not the only one to notice :L

  • @aazgash I heard some kind of whispers. Yeah.

  • @aazgash I can hear it too. Im a radio producer and am listening at work, i hear what u mean but cant hear whats being said

  • @aazgash There is a vocal in the background very faint panning with delay between L and R. Even sounds a little hi-passed?

  • @aazgash Yeah I hear it, like a wisper underneath everything else, gives me goosebumps. Great production, we'll have to ask Kenny one day.

  • @aazgash Sorry thats whisper

  • @aazgash Holy crap I never noticed that until you said it. I don't what they're saying though.

  • @aazgash there definitely are layered and delayed vocals going on, but it is so faint behind the guitars that it is impossible to distinguish the words.

  • @aazgash It's indeed background vocals with serious delay sounds like mostly wet mix.

  • Yup, still sounds like Tool.

  • The last minute or so if fucking brilliant.

  • Nothing quite like Australian progressive music. Its the kind of music you swim through oceans of garbage pop just to find tiny islands of true artists.

Karnivool, Cog, Birds of Tokyo, or The Butterfly Effect, just to name a few. All great bands, and in my oh-so-humble opinion, deserve the spotlight far more than some woman named after an infants speech capabilities, or some pubeless kid whose entire vocabulary seems to revolve around "baby"

Where... When did music go so horrifically wrong??

  • @7CellarDoors Dead Letter Circus?

  • @7CellarDoors Music didnt go anywhere its been here all along, commercial music is the garbabe you are talking about.

  • @7CellarDoors when you have nations of stupid people, you have to expect reflections of shit....i agree with you totally but you´d have to say the same of TV, reality tv to be exact..if that is all it takes to entertain a person you have to feel sad for a real artist. i don´t believe there is less talent in the world just people with no patience who want to be entertained with a simple beat or shit show...rather than think or be impressed by something differernt...really fukn sad

  • @7CellarDoors This comment should be stickied somehow.

  • @7CellarDoors I'm sad that Cog are no longer around : (

  • This is good

  • My drug.

  • @Crazybuttlazy

    so we have same dealer

  • @DpdinaDyztakjova Idd we do ^^

  • Fucking amazing.

  • The first time I heard this song--"Pretty good. Nothing too special."

Second time--No thought of its quality, just listening.

Third time--My listening to this song has become a habit.

Many listens later--I am brought to tears by its beauty. I love this song.

  • @TheDobligator one of the best songs ever written!

  • @corcorsmith77 Agreed my friend

  • if a song hits you right away, it's bound to get fed up with it very soon. radiosongs are supposed to be like that, so the listener hooks up right away and continues to listen the station, thats why radiohits = crap.

if a song grows into you with time, you will just start to respect it more as the time passes (cause you start to.. 'understand' it more and more)

  • @apris666 I like the way you think.

  • @apris666 spot on.

  • @TheDobligator - Far out . . . I thought the exact same thing ! Agree 10000000000000% Amazing and powerful song !

  • @TheDobligator I am in the same boat as you, some dude at my job was playing this CD and I heard Umbra. He barely knew anything about the band so I went home and got the music. This shit is so good. New Day and All I Know are killer songs. I haven't been inspired by any music this good for years. When you say this song is beautiful you are dead right. "How do you all speak with a lying tongue, how do we all sleep with a dying sun?"

  • @TheDobligator I am kinda floored by your comment because this music keeps growing on me. I find myself thinking upon the lyrics and actually reflecting upon them. The only other band that does this to me is Mudvayne, but only Lost and Found. And Silverstien, I know that they could be labeled a Emo Punk band but I really like them and find that they write great music. not like Karnivool, but Shipwreck in the Sand, though teenish still has depth and meaning. But Karivool has breached the stratos.

  • @TheAntiFascist2010 I'm glad to see that you feel the same way. If no other band or musician or group there of has hit you the same way but the ones listed, might I suggest a few bands here? First of all, my favorite of all time, Tool. Tool is incredibly intelligent not only in its music and songwriting but also in the meaning of its lyrics. Also, Soundgarden is another band with very well-written music and a passionate feeling to it (Tool's music is very passionate as well).

  • @TheDobligator Yea, I have been a heavy Tool fan for a while, I forgot to mention them. Wings for Marie is insane. Actually Tool is the most provacative band that I know of. I think that Maynard is on a level most never will be.

  • @TheAntiFascist2010 Hmm not sure Maynard is the backbone behind Tool, seeing as it was started by Adam, but as for vocalists, agreed.

  • @TheDobligator :) ohh, yeah, brother, exactly the same happened to me...the song stripped me down to a beautiful state of mixed mindless joy, desperation and enlightenment...don't want to sound too corny but it affected me in indescribably ways. This is music making. This is art fulfilling its purpose!

  • @devalah This is why I love music like this. The degree of passion is incredible.

  • I'm SO glad I skipped The Offspring and even Aphex Twins to see this band as the final act on Lowlands festival. I took the gamble and FUCK YEA it payed off! That show was absolutely awesome!

  • i believe this song is about the coming shift in consciousness changing our vibration frequency and perception on our reality basically awakening our true selfs.. as all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration on a sound frequency hence the album name "sound awake" and how theres a chance for us to leave our shackles behind and break free, because we are god and we dont need to wait for a messiah to save us.

  • @TheCreativeism lol wut

  • @TheCreativeism So do you always discretely quote Tool songs, especially quotations which are not even intended as truth or Truth in the song? Cool.

  • @TheCreativeism namaste!

  • I just can't stop listening to this! Love this song ;)

  • Yet another band i wish more people knew about.....like Katatonia, i think im the only guy in Canada who knows about them. or thats how it seems

  • @12321Walrus i may not be in canada, (arizona native, in kentucky) but i know of katatonia and listen to them very much. as do some of my coworkers (thanks to people like us) and it is starting to spread like wildfire. just takes people like us to spread their (artists like karnivool n katatonia) talent. i personally have had enough of the tweens being played over n over n over on the radio. drive on walrus, keep listenin.

  • @cmn8er i agree with you, i live in ky as well. As pop country and southern rock as it gets(which im not a big fan of) i still know who these guys are, i bought their album when they first came out, as well as fair to midland. Katatonia is only the very tip of the iceberg when it comes to finnish rock/metal because when you listen to the rest, katatonia honestly, isnt really that good. in my opinion.

  • Sit down. Lighten your load. This storm is coming..

  • MANNNNNNN I wish this song had a vagina!

  • Being a bassist...I must say I am very impressed with these guys musical talent as well as their ability to wirte music. Hats off Karnivool!!! U guys fucking ROCK FO SHO!!! Love the lines and the solo work in this song!!!

  • can anyone from the USA view these videos?

  • @JTbassist09 dunno. Im from holland and its one of my favourite songs!

  • @JTbassist09 i cant listen to goliath and set fire to the hive, i live in the uk

  • @JTbassist09 it seems Goliath, Change Part 2 and Umbra are the only songs (unless I'm missing something) off of the Sound Awake album that are no longer available (sucks, being those were some of my favorite songs off that album too), at least in the US anymore. You can find the full Change, but only live.

  • @JTbassist09 Yes sir

  • @JTbassist09 Yes sir, SONY hasn't blocked it yet. Fuck Sony and their DRM shit. It's not like were ripping off of youtube, just a place to listen for most people. Anyway, who the hell would want to rip from youtube? The quality is sub-par after the rip.

  • @joenic2791 I checked the copyright info. They have only blocked some of the videos. should I reupload them? or is there nothing I can do

  • @JTbassist09 I've checked all of them and they all seem to be working at the moment. No problems here. Where you from anyway? Since it's 1:23 AM here and you replied so fast I'm assuming you're across the Atlantic somewhere

  • @joenic2791 Perth Australia. same place karnivool come from

  • @JTbassist09 works fine here in the rainy UK.

Saw them live recently. Fucking amazing..!

  • @JTbassist09 Wait a sec, every few times I click on Goliath, Set Fire to the Hive, Umbra, and Change Part 2, they get skipped because they have been "deleted". So try and re-upload those for the peeps. Let me know when you do and I'll confirm if you want. I'm up and always happy to help. :)

  • @JTbassist09 hell yeah how did you find out bout these guys bro?

  • @dombag20 in about 2005, at school my friend gave me a listen to roquefort and shutterspeed. hooked since then

  • @JTbassist09 ive just discovered Karnivool yesterday from a friend and theyre amazing..glad i found this band

  • Intro reminds me a lot of a Hurt song, I can't place which one. Both great bands.

  • Why is your Goliath version no longer available? could you re-upload it somehow?

  • @ArmyOfOne313 I'll check it out

  • Comment removed

  • @JTbassist09 lol damn dude Umbra and change part 2 are unavailable too

  • @ArmyOfOne313 what country are you from? Sony may have banned it

  • @JTbassist09 The united states
