I remember that terrible day 65m years ago when the meteorite struck. The whole Earth burned for weeks on end. Molten rock rained from the skys. I had to swim through a dreadful tsunami that pretty much swamped my tent.

@africandude1 The answer to his question, if that is what he meant, is because Earth is in the green zone. The perfect distance from the sun for there to be liquid water present. Its not impossible for life to arise on a colder or hotter surface, but liquid water so far seems to be the basis of all life on Earth. Around other stars will also have a green zone (their size and power determines its distance), and that explains why life or everything will also seem to happen to that planet only.

Maybe in the past, we were evolved as we are today (possibly even more) and then we destroyed ourselves by nuclear weapons. None of us don't really know what happened. Why aren't predator dinosaurs shown killing pray in the stereotyical position cats use; on one side, hind legs kicking and evicerating while the front claws aid in immobilizing the prey leaving the teeth free to work their magic? Just observation after looking at T-Rex, Raptors modern cats. Leaping around on the back of a horned prey with the potential of falling or losing footing doesn't wash when watching other predators bring prey to the ground quickly.

The most accepted theory states that most dinosaurs were killed off, but most other forms of life survived because they were smaller and less vulnerable. Smaller size meant they needed less food and water to survive and they could have scavenge on the dead. Most weren't killed by the direct hit of the asteroid, but from the climatic effects after the large impact. Then again, this isn't the first mass extinction to happen here on Earth and it certainly won't be the last.

Again, educated guess. There is a fine layer of a dark line if you look at the history of Earth's geology which is believed to be caused by the asteroid. You can also find layers of evidence of the Ice Age and in rocks. Think of it as a crime scene. You don't know what exactly happened, but you can take a pretty good guess what had happened there in the past because it's obviously been disturb by something, and eventually you'll gain enough evidence to find the criminal responsible.
