  • i think, the engine will still run

  • Wow, hard impact...

  • Are those marshals or martians?

  • @thealcoholeffect haha those are fire suits

  • Was fatal that/this accident?

  • @vc210790 Of course it was, he left the car at 0.40s as a Zombie, but it´s fine cuz he got a role in Zombieland. What a stupid question.

  • @vc210790 Yes, o can clearly see his soul leaving the cockpit at 0:42

  • Similar to Kevin Cogan's 1989 Indy 500 wreck. Steve Grissom is yet another similar wreck.

  • Nice how the engine broke away keeping the driver safe.

  • Increible, sale caminando O_O

  • 1:33 look!! the aliens are here!!!

  • No one touched the ARTA car, he drove into the wall.

  • that will buff out

  • Where are the marshals? I dread to think what would have happened if that car was on fire and the driver was stuck. There was simply no-one at the time of the crash.

  • @jonthedoors With the way the Nippon cars are designed any potential fire would follow the engine/fuel cell instead of the cockpit. BUT, Japanese track marshals are notoriously bad at response time.

  • y do the cars commonly split in half?

  • They're designed to split in half so the engine breaks away.

I guess incase of fire or even spreading the inertia.

  • @wpsracing108 It's about inertia more than fire. Thats alot of weight so shedding it helps stop the survival cell quicker.

  • @doiwantsomerandom There's a lot of kinetic energy involved of course - if this energy disperses in the car's components rather than through the driver then there is more chance of survival.

  • @doiwantsomerandom Well, there is 2 things to consider. First of all, there is some "weak" spot, like between the driver and the engine compartment. Because of the processes the car is made and several physical constraint. But it is o.k since there is some "kinetic" ideas: if the wall&the car stay intact, the driver will take all the shock. On the other hand, you want the driver in one piece. It's the balance that these cars have: taking some of the shock, but keeping the driver in his cell.

  • What?!?

  • Typical camera operator mistake - zoom in as soon as something happens thereby missing the (in this case) more significant action.

  • @Captainllama Typical YouTube commenter mistake - assuming anyone gives the remotest fuck about his smug (and in this case) utterly pedestrian opinion.

  • Comment removed

  • @U5ERNAMEINVALID dude captain is right its pretty annoying when the cameraman is looking at the wrong place when theres another big thing happening

  • @Captainllama jesus christ you sound like such a tool!

  • @U5ERNAMEINVALID A tool is useful, unlike a troll. I've seen your other comments -shouldn't you be under a bridge waiting for goats? Don't fret, I remember what it's like to be a frustrated virgin, but you're going to be living it a long long time. You've got nothing.

  • thank god for carbon fibre thats all i can say!

  • bad driver in the red car. why did he snatch the steering wheel?! even if the white guy in front had crashed the red car would have sneaked past in time.

i hope they fired him afterwards for putting everybody in danger!

  • If you are going to comment on something like this, please make sure to know what the hell you're talking about?

  • All open wheel racing series in europe have the same design for their cars. In f1 the "tub" is called the survival cell and is made of carbon fiber. All other components are designed to break apart to disipate the energy from the driver. As for the oil, special valves are designed to close in the event of an accident.

  • was the team owner who you see wearing orange Aguri Suzuki?

  • yeah i think that cars do seem to break apart like that, it seems like a good idea the only other place i have seen it is in america in the drag racing series, no open wheel racing series in europe seem to have adopted the idea.

  • Is it me or these Nippon cars seem to break apart very easily?

It's a smart design for the monocoche and the engine bay to break away in my mind, in the case of an oil leak, but it makes for spectacular shunts!

  • Beautiful job performed by the monocule & the fence. Firemarshals might be a little overdressed for the occasion but thats ok.

  • Not quite. Donnelly's car split infront on the rollhoop, between the drivers back and the engine. The seat was still strapped to Donnelly's back as he was thrown across the circuit.

  • Sick how the car bursted.

  • The cars are designed to burst so that the outer body takes all the force of the impact and the driver in the cockpit shell remains safe...

  • Still, he made a mistake and overreacted. When the white car's back end went off into the grass, there was no way the car would have had enough traction to come back onto the circuit.

The driver of the red car was never touched, and he unnecessarily (in a panic) steered to avoid it, causing his own crash. He should have just kept going straight.

  • hay he just panic and was scared

  • sorry, I know what is going to say that the pilot? As cabbage did destroy a car like that?

  • non event, funny how he crashede in sympathy after the 1st car ran wide

  • half car yeah!!

  • OMFG @ 0:13

    LOLMAO @ 0:28

  • This is Tsukuba circuit?

  • no is fuji speedway.

  • In the beginning I was thinking about Monza. Well... high speed circuit, high chance of crashes. What a pity for the drivers involved here.

  • no man. yes there are high chances of crash. but fuji speedway is cursed. and very wierd crashes happen only here. search fuji speedway and you will see O__o

  • ke culo!

  • 1:33are they aliens?

  • 0:38 Aguri Suzuki

  • he over reacted

  • wow they are spacemen!

  • HEHEHEHEHHEHEHEE ;D

  • wtf are spacemen doing on the track at the end :P

  • They DO look like space men!

amazing that he just jumped out and hopped over the barrier like that.

  • LOL, the aliens have landed!

  • it seems to be aguri suzuki in the box, correct?

  • Because the orange fluo car is of the Super Aguri (ARTA) team. The driver was Katsutomo Kaneishi.

  • isn't the orange car sponsor autobacs? .

  • its written on the pit guys suit when you see the guys on the pit wall.

  • What a big one , but are the marshalls and where´s the doctor , i don´t know !

  • good job HANS devices are as standard these days.

  • what a crash
