Farley was probably my favorite comedians/actors when I was a kid. He still makes my cry laughing to this day. He died so young, only going upward in his career. Is it better that he burned out rather then fade away poorly like his counterparts (sandler, spade, schnieder)? Either way I wish he was alive, he was a humble soul as shown in this interview
Awww..he just seems like a good midwestern boy and nervous on a talk show like most people would be. I wonder if he used alcohol and drugs because he was so nervous being that public figure. It must have been hard for him to deal with the fame. And a lot of comedians are self-deprecating, but when he is making fun of himself, it's kind of sad, you feel like he truly is down on himself.
fuckin love this guy o much....i remember as a kid i prolly watched Tommy boy and Black sheep 50 times each, they'd always come on TV. That and happy gilmore, just great.
Funny to watch these interviews from the 90s from Leno and how much quicker he was in both wit and speech. Same with some of the Conan interviews and how young he was. Long live Chris, loved the guy.
I liked watching it in this unusual way. It's almost like Chris is talking to us from the other side, a bow to his tragically lamentable and heartbreaking early demise.
I miss you very much Christopher Farley and look forward to seeing you again, when we all stand together...before our Maker.
@joe0ner oh yes he was, hell, remember the part where he lit the car on fire, he just added that in, that wasnt in the script, he was so funny, i swear the first thing im going to do when i die, is find him up in heaven, and have a beer with him. (if possible.)
same here, he's the reason i can laugh at myslef, and that im not ashamed of my self, i mean he was overweight, and now i dont feel bad about my appearnce, if it wasnt for him, i proabably wouldnt have made it this far in life, i wish to be a comedian like he was, hell my dad, said that i could be the new tommy boy, i can recite that movie with out even watching it, its been some time since i watched that, well, i know what im doing tomorow.
theres this guy argueing with me about chris farley that he says he's not sure that farley is a nice person, so he calls me illogical for saying the things i just told you now
its on the video [chris farley @ letterman part 1 of 2]
@joe0ner well, he's a dumbass, who is intiled to his own opininon even if its a stupid one like that, cgris farley wasnt a jerk, hes to damn funny, i dont asscoiate with people like that.
i know i hate people like that, i don't think chris farley did anything rude he just gave us good comedy, and he made snl so alive now it's just boring crap.
i watched all of his movies except for dirty work it didn't really star him as the main character.
@joe0ner nope chris wasnt rude, he was funny, had a lot of talent, hell, its because of him that i want to be on SNL, and ill amit, SNL isnt as good as it use to be, but ill amit there have been a few funny skits, like the first debbi downer, was pretty funny,
Awww... I love that Leno says at the end, "This was easy, wasn't it?" Just shows how innocent Farley was. For those of you reading, pick up the book "The Chris Farley Show." It's absolutely amazing.
God of Comedy. I aspire to be like Chris Farley. He was one of those people in life who does everything to the fullest, acting, comedy, religion, even drugs and alcohol. That's ultimately what killed him.
its crazy cuz every interview ive ever seen of him he was a nervous wreck, but his characters were so outgoing. Just a small town kid always at heart.
@iiwatcher lol yeah he was real into all forms of comedy, including physical comedy. He really would do just about anything for a laugh. But yeah, lots of physical comedy...like falling out of chairs...falling down....he was great.
@iiwatcher He made fun of himself a lot. He was a bit tortured...It's sad because most of the fat jokes he is telling people about himself, I'm sure he actually was sad about his weight.
Yeah you could tell he felt bad. usually feeling bad about one's weight yet staying fat has something to do w/ hating yourself or low self esteem something like that. I always wondered why he felt that way. Sometimes it's the parents. Oh well, I'm all nostalgic now he really had a heart of gold, helped kids, did charity w/o wanting anyone to know about it, etc. RIP Chris; thanks for the gift of laughter in a weary world.
@iiwatcher I share that sentiment. When he died, I was in the fourth grade and it was the first death that actually made me cry. He made me so happy as a kid and even now when I watch him I am torn between feeling melancholy over being nostalgic or really giggly in remembering how much he has made me laugh.
@LucidDream Yeah I'm no celeb worshipper & not prone to idolizing anyone. But he was one of the few celebs whose death I really felt. I was sad when I heard about it. There was something about him. Even though he was crazy & did a lot of things that weren't too kosher, in another way, he was innocent like a child. I bet the only time he felt right was when he was performing. After, he'd go medicate himself. A lot of times fucked up ppl are truly gold at heart. Farely was one of 'em.
@iiwatcher Same here. But yeah he was really a great guy at heart, he always meant well. He's just a kindred spirit. And to the people who say he is high in this video, he was actually sober in this video. So says the book, "The Chris Farley Show".
@LucidDream Yeah I remember hearing that. He was usually bombed but here he was sober and feeling really vulnerable. I haven't read the book--is it good?
@LucidDream Cool. I'll probably check it out. Now this makes me want to look at Chris Farely vids & reminisce. One of my faves was his motivational Santa skit--hilarious.
Truly a comedy legend.. one of the funniest guys ever! That era of SNL with Farley, Sandler, Spade and Rock will ALWAYS be my favorite. Farley left us way too early, but that makes all of his work classic.
Wrong! The fat jokes were not what made Farley hilarious. It may have been what lead to his depression and the abuse of cocaine and morphine that eventually killed him, but it had nothing to do with how funny he was. Chris Farley was a legend.

@pigletized True, he was in a predicament, being fat, getting all this money from SNL, but single, rejected, lonely, or go the other way around, to bad he submerged on drugs, GBH, he was/is a good soul.

You know, there's this invention called DVDs, and you can record things onto them so you don't get shitty quality videos like this.

Really don't have much of a brain do ya pal. Just be thankful that he put this up so you could see it at all and if you want better quality than this you can go out and hunt down the DVD that had this original interview on it you ungrateful smart ass bitch

You know for someone who calls someone else dumb, you really are pretty dumb.
And throwing in the bitch on the end, how classy.

He's right Tyler, you ARE being an ungrateful smart ass bitch.....and your comeback was pretty shitty....and you're ugly.
