Sonic 3 was originally intended to be the what S3&K was, but due to time constraints, Sega had to split Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles into 2 separate games. Putting these two together would make Sonic 3 become whole.

At the time they released Sonic 3 I THINK Nintendo were releasing their new nintendo 64 console. Limitations of the Genesis? I thought the levels that didn't make it into Sonic 3 were cut due to time constraints. Sega was doing a big push on the game because Sonic was at the pinnacle of his popularity at the time (the good ol' days).
It was revealed later in interviews that the limitations of the Genesis game console, and what you could fit on a 16-bit cartridge, made shipping Sonic 3 the way the designers wanted to, was not possible.

Your opinion lacks context, and you have validated this by our own statement. Since you are 18 you do not know what the industry was like at the time Sonic was released. Sonic was revolutionary for its time. For me, Sonic 3 is where the franchise got lame. There were almost no improvements after Sonic 2. The trip to 3D was also not pleasant for the blue hedgehog. It may not seem like much to you now, but take out just about any other 20 year old game and try it out today.
Sure it may have been revolutionary for it's time, but not anybody liked it, either, because nothing will be liked by anybody. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was the game that, to me personally, was actually really well done, not only because of the gameplay, but I personally perceived it as being more fair to the player than it's two predecessors, which were kinda "meh" and aggrivating.
Furthermore, the 3D-Titles are, to me, generally better, but that's just me. Everyone has his own opinion, after all.

In all actuality, guessing by the ending, it's Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the game you get when you combine Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles.

Hmm. Why is mine different? I'm no Sonic geek so I don't know. My ending theme was much more nostalgic than this. It was called "Traveller's Tales". Is it a different game?

Traveller's Tales is a company that worked on a few Sonic titles, one being for example Sonic R.

Actually, if you have all Super Emeralds, you get to bring the Master Emerald back to Angel Island, thus letting it get afloat again.
Hence why it's still there (usually) in Sonic Adventure.

R.I.P. 16 bit era, and the high quality of the games back then.
We old timers (gen Y 20 or 30 somethings), were spoiled rotten; 16 bit era was easily the best in video game history.

i agree, in some kind of way, i dont like new sonic games as they are in no way better than these old games, it seems like nowadays all games HAVE to be in the bestest quality reguarding graphics, sonic should have stayed the platform game it once was

I'm 18 and disagree. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was actually one of the two, good 2D-Sonic games there ARE. The others are... well, lackluster in many aspects, in my opinion, actually. =3

Your opinion lacks context, and you have validated this by our own statement. Since you are 18 you do not know what the industry was like at the time Sonic was released. Sonic was revolutionary for its time. For me, Sonic 3 is where the franchise got lame. There were almost no improvements after Sonic 2. The trip to 3D was also not pleasant for the blue hedgehog. It may not seem like much to you now, but take out just about any other 20 year old game and try it out today.

Sure it may have been revolutionary for it's time, but not anybody liked it, either, because nothing will be liked by anybody. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was the game that, to me personally, was actually really well done, not only because of the gameplay, but I personally perceived it as being more fair to the player than it's two predecessors, which were kinda "meh" and aggrivating.
Furthermore, the 3D-Titles are, to me, generally better, but that's just me. Everyone has his own opinion, after all.

What?!? I have no idea what you are trying to say. If you are meaning that Sonic 1 and 2 was not liked by anyone than you really need to read your video game history. Sonic 1 single-handedly wrenched domination of the gaming industry from Nintendo and Sonic 2 was in such demand that Sega eventually included it with the console.

Yet, not ANYBODY liked it, definately. See it like this - MANY, quite ALOT even, liked the games - but it is impossible that ANYBODY liked it - NOTHING CAN be liked by ANYBODY. It's all a matter of taste and opinion, really.

I think you are meaning "not EVERYBODY liked it." "Anybody" is used in questions or to mean no people, where "everybody" is used in statements and means all people.
Of course nothing can be liked by everybody, but my only point was that in watching the games progress, Sonic 3 seemed rushed and lacking the improvement seen when Sonic 2 was released. Almost like Sonic 3 was just a expansion to Sonic 2, just as Sonic & Knuckles was an expansion cartridge.

Anyway. To me, personally, it seemed more like Sonic 2 was the rushed one - Sonic 3 & Knuckles as a whole was, to me, way better executed and just did overall better, 'specially in the fairness-, music- and fun-departments.

I will admit, they should have done that whole "Saved Games" feature a lot sooner. I don't think I ever finished Sonic 1 or 2 without cheating.

Funny, I finished Sonic 1 without cheatin' (after me temper got me to get a bit loud, though... <.<;; ), and I swore to whatever deity the people at Sonic Team believed in, I'd never go through that torture again. xD;

yeah this is Sonic & Knuckles, other ppl should notice the obvious of music being played in the credits. Those are levels from that game so yeah you're right.

Yah, S3 ends at Launch Base Zone. S3&K has at least 7 more levels after Launch Base Zone.
