  • New single is NOT out & Martika is blaming delays on "issues" that should have been resolved before the single drop date was even announced... she claims that another artist named Martika is causing confusion on retail portals when in fact the back catalog for both artists has sat side by side for many years without any problem. I think this is an issue of her attempting - through less than righteous fan-respecting means - to garner buzz for a song that just blends into rest of todays garbage.:(

  • 1989 I was so in love with her-- gorgeous and incredible style

  • shes incredible..

  • My favorite from the 80"s. I LOVED kids Incorporated!!!!

  • This is one of my favorite songs...EVER! Boy, does this bring back memories!!!!!

  • Love the collection!! Yes, why can't it be '89 again!!!

  • It's now official, Martika's new album MIRROR BALL will be coming out Feb 12, 2011. The first single "Flow With the Go" will be released January 12, 2011. After 20 years, she's back.

  • @7mandoblu did you mean 2012..

cause your comment is 2 months old..!!!!

  • @7mandoblu 2011? or 2012? this makes no sense

  • @7mandoblu My mistake. It will be coming out January 12 2012 and February 12 2012.

  • @7mandoblu January 29 and still no single.

  • YES YES I remember this song so well. Miss the 80´s so much :-(

  • The dancer in this video played Steve on the TV version of The Outsiders.

  • sexy. i like the high energy

  • I LOVED THIS SONG. REMINDS ME OF AN OLD BOYFRIEND. LOL MARTIKA & FERGIE WERE FRIENDS SO NO REASON WHY SHE COULDN'T MAKE A COME BACK. I MISS ALL THIS FUN, DANCE MUSIC.

  • I remembered having a major crush on her back then

  • @SlideDownMyMachete 1989. the year of Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, and of course Madonna.. they all had #1 hits on radio

  • That short hair cut is just so cute.

  • Martika is so cute.

  • Martika was awesome in Gremlins. She was really hot in that movie. She should have played in more movies.

  • @BeingOStupid Actually that was Phoebe Cates.

  • luvs it

  • Martika is so beautiful!!!

  • i used to love this girl. why did she disappear so quickly? wikipedia time baby

  • @kamaldavis96 Partly because her second album was a Flop

  • @Gecko7291971 i owned martika's kitchen. it was a good album. she appeared on an awards show in britain early 1992 and looked totally strung out.

  • @kamaldavis96 True, I thought it was a pretty good album also

But it didn't sell all that well, to my understanding......(My personal favorite song off that album was Colored kisses)

  • Martika peaked too early in her career on Kids Incorporated....sad but true. WE STILL LOVE HER! I can't wait for her new CD.

  • @VideoScenario Who the fuck are you people?!?!?!? Why would you want some freakshow when you can have the real thing?

  • shes best singer ever

  • She's so damn cute. And I LOVE her music.

  • Martika's official Facebook Page is up now (MARTIKA | Become A Toy Soldier). Her new cd will drop, Fall, 2011. Please press the LIKE button, to get the most updated information on Facebook

  • Martika was hot. I had a crush on her as an 8 year old. It's a shame she just disappeared like she did shortly after the height of her popularity.

  • Loved this song back in the day. She was a cool Latina pop star years before J-Lo!

  • Comment removed

  • if she still kept this style today 2011....SHE WOULD ROCK!!!! ONLY SHE CAN PULL IT OFF <3

  • la mejor de todas

  • i forgot about this song...wow. nice one

  • no she's ok but too bland for me. I prefer Saint Etienne!

  • so sad, i didn't know he died

  • I liked her songs "Toy Soldier" & "I Feel the Earth Move" but had never heard this song until I heard it on youtube, & it quickly became my favorite of her songs!! Don't understand why she didn't get more airplay than a lot of the others of that time. She is gorgeous, she can sing, she can dance, & she's built like a brick......well, you know!! :-))

  • @Truckerfun01 This song actually had a lot airplay ( was in the top 20 in '88)...this is the song that made her known...."Toy soldiers" came later....

  • @aviationfreak100 .....strange I never heard it. "Toy Soldiers" was the first & really only song of hers that I heard much on the radio before finding the iothers on youtube.

  • @Truckerfun01 Toy soldiers got more airplay probably because the song was about something to do with drugs or it could have been the closenees of the gulf war (90), Also there was one other hit song ,one that Prince wrote for her ; "love will never die" or something like that, that was her last hit

  • @Truckerfun01 where u from? as was a hit inuk where im from and her albums hit high as well

  • someone grouped depeche mode and morrissey in the same category now that's depressing.back off my guys=).morrisey bleh.

  • I miss martika.if I found out that dumb show glee got a hold of this or any other song i like I'd kill em'.that's why i never watch the show.they'd just ruin my childhood memories=)

  • Those are some fresh moves.

  • Temaso de los 80

  • who's the guy? he's SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @n01231 ...he was an actor named Harold P Pruett. He was in her "Coloured Kisses" video too. He died in 2002 from a drug overdose.

  • @1:41...he was gettin it!

  • i always liked her shes so pretty. i like her hair do.

  • Wow this song is good.

  • Martika is a babe. Rockin that dress. Hahaha

  • Thumbs up if Manila Luzon sent you here!

  • Can you please fix this video so that it is playable on mobile devices??:)

  • She's still hot! *rawr*

  • It'll be great if Martika, Fergie and all the other Kids Incorporated members should have a reunion.

  • @cagustilo I remember flipping by "Kids, Inc", but I never, ever watched it. (But then, I was a boy, over 17, so that might explain why I didn't watch it...)

  • The original ipod dancer! :) I miss Martika. I miss the 80s... but hey, at least now her hairstyle is back to being cutting edge :P

  • @122172639 THAT'S where I've seen that silhouette before (on an IPod). Martika could probably wear that whole outfit today and not be commented negatively upon (though if she was wearing a "cunning hat", people might smirk), but if the guy in the video wore HIS outfit, people would roll their eyes and maybe say "wow - he's reliving his glorious teen past of the 1980s"

  • @shmuli9 He can chalk it up to "eccentricity" and being an "ahhhtist" but we'd smirk! Actually, here in Seattle, plenty of people never STOPPED living their glory years. It's almost depressing the amount of people who never actually cut their metal hair, who just added beards and still wear odd faded out taper jeans with scuffs, some of them CLEARLY not of this era !! I almost wonder if most of her clothes would just have her labeled a feminist lesbian :P I DO wonder if iPod "stole" this idea ;)

  • @122172639 Heh! I live in Seattle, too! WAY worse than these clothes are middle-aged men - 45 to 60 - (or women, for that matter) who think it's attractive or "hip" to wear their hair in a ponytail (which is SO Seattle)...

  • @shmuli9 Since I moved from the other side of America (granted, I've lived and traveled all over N. Am and Europe, but east coast=my turf)... you can imagine how irked I am when I almost-amusedly point out to visitors how every unlucky 13th person or so ends up not being decked out in black, gray, blackish gray, grayish black, etc... with a disproportionate%of hoodies (not bad in and of themselves, but ugh, these "thug" sized ones on scrawny nerds lol!) & chucks! Converse... on 50yr olds! Eep!

  • @122172639 Yes, some of the non-colours you see on people here make one almost want to listen to Depenche mode or Morrissey and kill oneself... In the 80s, it was QUITE different here. (when "Shah Safari" was popular.)

  • @122172639 So I have been told & also seen in photographic evidence... The grunge era ruined a place whose size matched its vibe (small city) and had a lot less social paralysis (most friends from here are in their 50s or better so they've lived through the incredibly high proportion of failed engineering attempts ie the floating bridge that sank,& they also lived through the leather pants, glitzy jewelry&metrosexuality before metrosexual was a word). At least it's just the PNW/not most places.

  • So now you know that while there is only one me (that I know of, would have to consult with the experts in the Tardis!), you can figure with such a low % willing to wear COLOR, well, I stand out. I like it fine, but apparently between that and being friendly, I stick out like a sore thumb :P Polite and nice are NOT the same. Polite just means efficiently minimizing any risk of personal connection! People assume I'm downright giddy here and ask what I "use" bc it's abnormal to not be depressed.

  • @122172639 That's true! People not form here often say "people in Seattle are friendly". Well, not really. They're POLITE, but not friendly. And I have found that the people in NYC, while often characterised as "rude", are actually VERY friendly. (They're DIRECT, but that's also not the same as "being rude".) People in New York bars will buy a newcomer a drink to say "welcome", not "I want and expect to have sex with you"

  • @122172639 I like color in some things (have you noticed, for instance, they are only selling black, navy, grey, and white socks? But I definitely don't wear colors in the sense of a "Parker Lewis" shirt of a "Cliff Huxtable" sweater! :-)

  • @shmuli9 ..Damn! Now that is a name i have not heard in a long time!! "PARKER LEWIS"...PARKER LEWIS CAN'T LOSE..... I miss that old TV show...I still remember PARKER LEWIS Can't Lose,The SIMPSONS,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and MARRIED WITH CHILDREN being all Brand New TV Shows in 1989.... WOW! I miss the Good Ol' Days!...

  • That haircut is making a comeback.

  • Lady gaga no tiene talento, cuando canta en vivo es una mierda! solo le arreglan la voz, y martika tiene un estilo diferente!! mes facina

  • she is great singer and beautiful women

  • she vas great singer and beautiful women

  • @slolju "Boris, kill moose!" :-)

  • werk!

  • I usually don't forget things from the 80's, but for some reason this song and video doesn't seem familiar at all...it must've been one of those ones that I used to change the channel when it would come on.

  • she looks so hot in this video!!

  • Underage kid in a nightclub circa 1988, drunk as hell. I totally thought this was Phoebe Cates singing. It can happen, I mean Vanessa Williams, Jasmine Guy, and Pia Zadora has singles out.

  • seems like every male singer is compared to beiber and every female to gaga...like wtf is wrong with all you people! honestly it pisses me off sooo much, you can't constantly keep making these comparisons cuz everybody's different in their own way...just because it's the same music genre you don't have to loose your head! just enjoy the music....by the way, this is a great song :)

  • @VideoScenario I don't think Martika "was a puppet", but trying to compare Lady Gaga and Martika (separated by almost 20 years in their periods) is kind of silly. Lady Gaga, if anything, is like today's Madonna - outrageous, but not whorish, with great hooks in her songs...

  • is my love imposibel. Forever i love you.

  • people say Lady GAga sucks? Gaga can sing, can dance her ass off, plays piano, and writes all her own songs and she even wrote songs for other singers. Gaga is a true talent and she's unique. Other good pop singers of the 80's was Madonna and Janet Jackson. I didn't list others because Madona and Janet jACKSON because they write their own songs. Unlike Whitney Houston who can sing live, doesn't here her own songs, nor can she dance.

  • @Tonster1998 Who cares who wrote the song as long as its a good song? Sure Gaga can do it all but IMO her songs suck, so the rest doesn't mean jack. It's people like you that Rock N Roll rebelled against in the 50s when you had these great 'technical' artists who put out dreck and expected people to eat it up because they were 'talented' artists. Look it up.

  • @GreggJulian Douchebag

  • i love you MARTIKA!!!!

    san jose, ca

  • makes my ears sort of tingle! :-)

  • music sucks today.

  • Check out @J8DED_The_Show on twitter to see the new incarnation of Martika; looks like a hot new TV series.

  • See, if pop music was still like this, I'd listen to it. But Lady Gaga? C'mon, man...

  • Yes she sucks and none of her songs have any depth or meaning they all hide behind fashion and gemic.

  • Am not talking about martika I love her! Am talking about Gaga and Perry

  • @AbyssDeathGhost WTF? at least Gaga can sing, can dance, writes songs for other singers, plays piano. WTF do can these 80's pop singers do? They don't write their own songs and all sing is about oh i'm love and oh i got my heart broken.. How original. Gaga is a true musician dumbass.

  • @Tonster1998 umm you do realize gaga ripped off most of her songs from madonna who is an 80s pop star, right?

  • @AbyssDeathGhost At least Gaga writes her music. This twit didnt write a note of this garbage.

  • @metronomic1 actually yes she did and gaga ripped of madonna and will end up another one hot wonder

  • @metronomic1 YOU'RE the douchebag if you think Lord Faghag even compares to Martika!

  • @AbyssDeathGhost hey at least Gaga has real talent. She can sing, dance, plays piano, and puts out theatrical shows. that 's a true musican artist. Martika even i did like her album is not artist.

  • @Tonster1998 hmmm...contrary...Martika may have done a few covers on her self titled album..but she did write her own songs as well. Nothing new...in fact alot of the bubble gum artists were writing and producing their own songs...for instance, Debbie Gibson...who at the age of 16 was the youngest artist to write, produce, and perform a Billboard certified #1 song...titled...Foolish Beat...sooo GAGA hasnt brought anything new to the scene other than over-the-top performances...

  • @Tonster1998 yeah right.

  • @AbyssDeathGhost and Gaga writes all her own songs and she wrote songs for other singers b4 she get real famous.

  • @AbyssDeathGhost she (Lady Gaga) can't help it, after all she was "born this way", haha. So not a gag gag fan either.

  • @AbyssDeathGhost whta's your point? Martika is amazing!@!!

  • @AbyssDeathGhost Lady Gaga sucks... :S Listen to Shakira :p

  • she reminds me of gwen

  • There's this girl on Stickam that looks just like her.

  • I just love her sass in this video...I had all her cds, and then I sadly sold them..now I want them back! LOL...

  • They made a beautiful couple in this video.

    Harold Pruett/Martika

  • Gotta love it. That girl is gorgeous

  • @vanboy0 I used to be in love with her back in the day!!!!!

  • @AaronH9111 Hell yeah...remember her on Kids Incorporated?? one of my first loves! lol

  • @619Mutt Hey what's up! I remember Kids Incorporated, but never watched much back then. When she came out with this song and the video, I was in LOVE!!!!!!

Still gives me good memories, so Hot and Sexy!!!

Wish I could meet a girl that looks like her in the video! LOL !!!

  • @AaronH9111 Me too! Where is she now?

  • @tvtimetravel Hey what's up!!!

You can do a search on Google and it will tell you what has happened, but so far I know she's married, ( darn it, lol!!! ), and her husband has some kind of goth band that she sings in.

  • This must be the remix version. There's another version that's so much better. Remixes weren't that good in the 80s.

  • @LAWoman323213 I'm not that big a fan of remixes.

  • I just posted the promo cd single for this song on ebay. Item number 280461259034

  • 80s fashion was not very chic, but this video proves me wrong . They look so chic even for 2010.

  • @nirvanafatal

Well... it was basically the 90's .... I think Toy Soldier came out in 1989 and I think this was after that ....

  • @nirvanafatal you missed out in the 80's!!!

  • @nirvanafatal This was very late 80s

  • The track on the album didn't take so long to get going. Bad decision for the video to re-mix such a long intro.

Also, Toy Soldiers is really the only memorable Martika song. More Than You Know is pretty much 1988 pop remix factory trash. If I remember right, though, this song actually got more radio time when it was new than Toy Soldiers did.

  • When people say...."sounds like" not a good sign! The lyrics here are really poor and rather ordinary. The biggest problem is that it takes FAR too long for the song to get going.

  • yep sounds a lot like debbie gibson, i agree...not martika's strongest track

  • Love this version. It actually reminds me of 80s Debbie Gibson
