I've noticed that the earlier performances of Hysteria are the best ones of them all - they have the most energy, plus they are the only ones which utilise vocals effects on Matt's voice. From 2004 onwards, I dunno. Hysteria doesn't sound as mean as this one anymore, or the Supersonic Live in Milan performance. Even SMBH was only really good during the very beginning of 2006. From then on it sounded kinda - well - shit. I just find it interesting, thats all. Muse are still the greatest!

Sorry dude - the V festival Hysteria doesn't really do it for me. Like I said, I think Hysteria was only really good at certain performances during the Absolution-era. I do reckon the Shepherd's Bush Empire performance was really good though!

I like muse but i disagree with that. Muse are really cool but there is no need to insult another genre of music you do not understand. Death metal whilst usualy filled with retarded lyrics is actually incredibly complex, lots of jazz influence and classical going on, crazy time signatures and exotic scales. Of course there are bad ones but its ignorant to dismiss an entire genre you dont get as having far less talent than muse. Playing death metal requires far far more talent.

many people as possible with lots of explosions and goodies saving the world from baddies to something like Buffalo 66 which is far more subtle and is not really made to grab the mainstream light. That is not for a second to say muse are a bad band though, as i said before I think they are a rare diamond, they are made for the mainstream and simplistic, but they successfully manage to mix in several styles very well so their tunes are more interesting than usual radio rock.

The only comment I would say of yours was wrong, was that Matt couldn't do anything they can. Matt can play very fast and very technical if he wanted to, he just never incorporates it into MP3s, lives is another story.

No but being able to play 15 notes a second when necessary does take talent. Most death metal guys could play every muse song easily no problem at all, but Matt could certainly not play any of their stuff. None of the bands i am thinking of just 'randomly hit more notes'. Beethoven has licks that are lightening fast but that does not make his music crap or devoid of melody. The kind of person who has bothered to practice upwards of 10 hours a day to get that skill is unlikely to be satisfied

check out some guitarists like Mohammed Suicimez and Chuck Shuldiner, their leads are certainly not just random.They use unusual scales, have a clear jazz and classical influence as well as metal, have fantastic melody and phrasing. If either one of them were placed in a room with Matt and played together for sure they would be the most impressive, but at the end of the day, Matt writes great simple groovy rock tunes.They write great techy,interesting,jazzy metal tunes(albeit with crap lyrics!)
