Not bad. My Lesabre did 0-60 just a tad bit slower, but is quite a bit quicker on the top end. Then again, the road was wet for the 0-60 and I spun till about 20-25.

@1SApOTRes check your thermostat, when it fails it usually springs in the open position so the engine gets to much coolent(overcooling) instead of no coolent(overheating). still not good for the motor but not as bad as overheating.

I got this same van almost 1994 Chevy Astro ''AWD'' and mine goes just as fast from like 30-120 -tops at 125 I believe on radar gun-

But from 0-30 it doesn't have the same pick up to it a bad 0-60 run but 30-120 is great.

Any ideas why this could be?

Sorry, but that WAS NOT 115 MPH, more like 102 MPH. The speed graduation between 90 and 100 MPH is a good half inch, the speedo needle only goes past 100 MPH by a 1/16 of an inch.

I say its real, watch the keys in the reflection of the guage cluster. Still before take off, and they jerk when he launches and when it shifts then you see them move foward on when he slows down

I tow my trailer to the river all the time with my 95 cl. I have Posi, inch exhaust all the way back, rear swaybar kit, and i had the computer tweaked...just the mixture. Its a fast ass van, too bad chevy had crapy paint that year. Mine was garaged for most of its life, and still is flaking. Alot of A/C problems too...three compressors, two condensors, and two complete units. Overall, im pleased with my muscle van..hehe.

I have a 99 Astro with 434,528 miles on the 4.3 vortec and it is still running with power. I get 17.5 MPG overall no problem. Amazing engine probably the best out there. I'm headed for 600K with diligent oil changes. Go figure!

4.3 is basically a 5.7 350 small block with two less cylinders and the vortec deff improves throttle response and helps with gas i had a astro with a 4.3 no vortec wasnt impressed at all your lucky you have the vortec

and to all that don't understand why it can go over 100 mph, it should be at least able to go to 120 at maximum rpm. if you watch closely it shifts at 35 and 70, both 35 mph apart. it does so when the gear box and ratio line up at about 6 - 7k rpm. it can go up to 8k rpm. which would give it a top speed well over what the speedometer reads.

dude the vortec 4.3L engines are pretty badass. I've got three of them: '95 GMC Safari, '98 Chevy S-10, '00 Chevy Blazer = the loves of my life. My van is my everyday driver so the gas mileage really sucks but I love the power it gives me so it's worth it. cool vid by the way :D

I remember I had a 90 GMC Safari that had a 4.3 six in it. One day commeing home from college I buried the needle on I-75. The speedo only went up to 85, but it took over a minute for it to come back down to 85. I have no idea how fast I was going, and I remember I let off too. I always did like Chevy, they never put governor's on there cars topspeed the way Jeep does. My Jeep only got up to 115 before the governor kicked it down to 90.

the van is an astro mark III. it had all of the luxury options like tv and big ass heavy seats. all of that is gone except my 2 front seats. the vin on the van codes for a 200 hp 260 ft torque 4.3 vortec

They were available in 2wd and awd, and the setup was basically the same as the syclones from what i've heard. I've been looking into the tranny for it to see if its a 700R4.

Trucks use a higher gear ratio in the differential for hauling heavy loads. Transmitions can also play a big part in that.

yeah but higher ratios means that my 3rd gear may be in between your 1st and 2nd's ratios so my 3rd gear should pull almost as hard as your 2nd gear. oh well i donno, some vehicles surprise you. like when the lumina came out. they were very fast comapred to all the other cars with the same engines. a lumina with a 3.1L could smoke a 3.1L camaro. and i had a 90 chrysler 5th avenue and raced a dodge ram daytona from a 50 roll. i went from 50mph to 105 before he could actually pull in front of me

Was this van on jackstands? It's quite suspicious that everything gets very quiet as you are decelerating. If you were driving this down the road, the cabin level noice would be similar in volume as you were slowing down. 115 in an Astro is not impossible.. but in your video something is wrong here.
