i have this laptop and i have a problem with it - basically when playing dvds now, a notable vibration can be felt. i never noticed this before. i've tried changing dvds, even took the drive out (doesnt seem sturdy), am considering ordering a replacement part but its expensive, ordered anti-vibration feet but that didnt work, disabled/enabled the drive, everything. its really annoying now. anyone got any tips? reply to my comment, cheers

hi i have got the same laptop hp dv5 1115el !! > well let me say its a hell !!! i had it frome 8 mounths but i have millions of problems !!! battry just works for half an hour & its over heat so much !!!!! its so heavy & its make more then 6/ 7 min to on & set it !! > its too much

I was about to make a post to moan about my own HP HDX laptop...but you've said exactly what I was going to say!

I'm hopefully going to sell it in the next few weeks, I've had mine for nearly 2 years and I've had enough!

Everyone keeps asking me why I want to downsize from a 21" screen...'That must be awesome to watch movies on' etc etc....NO, IT'S HELL! Never knew a laptop could have so many problems!

Great performance, great looking! I bought it a month ago and it is a very good laptop. Nevertheless, you can see all the parts through the chrome panel which isn't that great. I was very surprised with the quality of the finition (not a scratch), but the laptop itself seems fragile. The parts are not very well attached together (particularly the disc), and my spacebar lifts on the right corner. But except those little defects, the performance are great to do gaming and it has an awesome look.

one thing that worries me is that i heard these laptops are awesoem but they have glitchy touch buttons, like sometimes the woreless disables and enables itself, and that would be annoying

if your just playing counter stike 1.6 it will perform beyond what you might think and no its a very silent laptop and the fan does not go nuts :P

Is it a good laptop? Im not gonna play nothing else than Counter Strike 1.6 and does it overheat or something like that, does the fan go nuts? You know, I want a quiet laptop, so I would epreciate an answer :)

it depends on how high u put the battery settings. the only time fan go crazy is when u "block" the fans and make it overheat... lol its my fault anyways.. cuz i placed it on my bed... which im not suppose to cuz bed coulda catch fire :D ... it run games kinda good but if u put to the max resolution it would go about 20 fps

16:9 is just the aspect ratio and doesn't autimatically make it "full HD".

HD is determined by this and also the pixels displayed....i.e. 1920x1080 etc...

hey nice video...btw...i have a 64 bit vista on this lappy...i installed gtalk and it hangs when ever i try selecting the current music track as my status. Did any one experience this? Any work around??

its depending on personally experiences to me, for me ATI tends to over heat in desktop PC's, thats with external fans and all the shin dig cooling, nvidea to me has a better overall performance even if it is half the dedicated memory, i will be buying Nvidea.......

keeping in mind the new HDX18t came out with 9800gt laptop cards that are 1Gig dedicated memory.

are the keys metal or do they just look that way.are they plastic.i know i had my hp from a few years ago and after like 3 months of use the keys got this glossiness to the keys and yo couldnt wipe it off,the top layer of the black keys rubbed away i guess

Hey i too have the problem, it has to do with the vista :( the fix is to disconnect and connect to router again[not the wireless blue icon]. Guess wot, you will get response if u do a ping from cmd console, which means its a software problem!!!!

DOOOO NOT!!!!! i bought the HP HDX16

and the second day that i had it (today). i was playing left 4 dead, and my laptop crahsed. I thought maybe it can just have overheated, but its been over 2 hours and it still isnt turning on. WHenever i turn on the power the light just blinks 3 times, (maybe a faulty power suppy/battery or motherboard i dont know).

Oh no, that isn't a good start for the HDX16.... I hope you got some insurance for it.. those HP guys are tough to talk too.. My suggestion would to be call late at night, when you speak to their Philippines HP office where they seem to be more sympathetic to your cause than the actual HP team in the US.... Just have patience with them being that most of the call centers in the Philippines are 3rd party and they are required by policy to follow their own rules and regulations..

indeed it is! I play most of the games with DX10 enabled and fps well above 25. Movies are amazing on the HD screen and its confy to right on.

Well my HDX16 came with 2 remotes. the Integrated remote has a wheel with it.

It can play just about anything out there and in specific models they have blu-ray drives to watch those types of movies.

yeah the hp dv7 runs WOW crysis counter strike very well and this has 512MB dedicated video card so it runs very well on this one too
