  • Great cover, but as always... the original is better.

  • These guys can do everything right. EVERYTHING.

  • loved it

  • Taylor Hawkins sounds like Tripple H

  • is this taylor singing? love you fooz!

  • I am a super, mega, hyper, whatever, fan of Pink Floyd and I hardly like covers from Pink Floyd but I like this one, congratz Foo Fighters

  • BEST COVER EVER.

  • Certainly, covering is a sign of respect, but it doesn't mean anyone is obliged to ignore any problems they have with the song. Most probably couldn't explain it, but their problem is likely the mere fact that isn't Pink Floyd. Here are my problems: the way it's sung here misses the idea in the original of portraying a music industry executive, forgoing that and replacing it with an unremarkable voice and tone. It also feels rushed. Damned comment limit.

  • @TehMountainMan The new pace, I'd argue, doesn't seem to have any chemistry with the composition, particularly those four motifs played throughout the song with a synthesizer in the original. Overall, the mood set by this version doesn't lend itself well to the subject matter, nor the song composition.

  • this is ok but too fast and the guitar just doesnt fit floyd

    the primus cover I prefer

  • this is shit

  • This is not the version with Brian May in it, this sounds like a demo! Where's the proper version?

  • As a professional musician, I think it the mark of great respect and praise to put this song out, it must have made a mark on someone in the band as they developed musicaly to the point where they have basically said "thanks pink floyd, you have writen some great music and my way of showing that you have affected me is to pay tribute to you", love it or hate it they made it their own and personally, I think it's great, the Floyd version is great. They are however diferent and that's great too.

  • @Cbob22 if they are mediocre then why the hell did you listen to it. It's different, yes but thats the idea of a cover, to make it your own.

  • i'm a huge ff fan, but honestly, i have to admit that they could use a better lead guitarist. it would drastically improve the bands dynamics if they found the right guy.

  • @DyerOfTheCentury on this particular track, Queen's guitarist Brian May is providing lead guitars. And last I checked, he seemed preeeeetty good...

  • this has been out for 3 years and ive never seen it? wtf??

  • @ThEwArChIeF234 much longer than 3 years in fact good sir.

  • for as much hate as the song gets, i find it to be an interesting twist to a absolute classic. it's difficult to take another person's song and make it a completely new sound without murdering the melody( or beat). Is it better than the original? no, but its still one of the best floyd covers i've heard.

  • what the fuck have they done with one of the best song ever? :<

  • @karniak970 Made it better :D

  • The Pink Foo's, the Floyd Fighters

  • @RailcarFerrostaal better than Pink Fighters isn't it haha, we can call it whatever, the cover is good

  • this one was on the M:I:2 soundtrack, right?

  • @charrro7 yep

  • floyd are my fave band but i still like this cover

  • dont let mediocre bands cover the greats

  • This is absolutely amazing. It can almost equal the original. Just great. But then again I could expect no less from the Foo Fighters.

  • It's good. I've wanted to hear a version of the song done this way. I really Primus' version too

  • I just really think this is not nearly as good as pink floyd

  • eek i dont like this...

  • The video description is priceless. It tells the trolls to shut the fuck up before they can even start! I totally agree, though. If I didn't WANT to hear the cover, I wouldn't have SEARCHED for the cover. Pink Floyd is awesome, the original of this song is awesome, and the cover by the Foo is its own unique form of, you guessed it, awesome.

  • @Autocon609 & yet 1 gets on right after you.

  • @0foofighter0 your description is adorable :) true foo fan I see

  • i like this song, and your video description

  • Pink Floyd are so distinctive and one-of-a-kind, there is no point just copying them if you are going to cover them (unless you are a tribute band :-)), and of course the cover will never be as good as the original. So it takes a good artist to be able to carry off a half-decent cover of Pink Floyd. Think Wyclef Jean's cover of "Have a nice day" - will never match the original version, but I for one like it. Same here. Go Foo Fighters.

  • the thing to remember about covers aswell is that they are covering this song because they love pink floyd as much as all of and have obviously found them influential in some way, covering this song in their own style is their way of paying homage to a great band. i just think it's important for people to remember that before ripping this to shreads. I love it, it think its fucking awsome by the way. xo

  • really cool interpretation, i like it alot, definately foos style, and Taylor has some serious pipes my god! sounds different to how he sings with the coat tail riders. sounding awsome as ever <3 thanks heaps for posting!

  • Pink isn't well he stayed back at the hotel and he sent the FF along as a surrogate band, we're gonna find out where you fans really stand...

  • @0foofighter0 great discription !

btw I realy like this song, Taylors voice is so different on this one

  • not really a foo fighters fan, but I'm a big Floyd fan. I like this cover more than the original. I think they did a good job.

Also, that's Brian May on lead guitar on this version people!

I don't know if anyone here realises that...

  • i like taylor hawkins voice. nice and grungy

  • I don't care what anyone says, I absolutely love this cover and this band. A.maz.ing.

  • Respect for Taylor Hawkins just increased by at least 85%. I love the virtuosity of FF. Very few bands can do this:

Dave: "Hey Taylor, you feel like switching on this one?"

Taylor: "Yehh sure. But I don't like my voice."

    Dave: "Nah it's fine man."

    Taylor: "K."

    epicness.

  • this song is cool, but misses the point of the floyd version

  • I'm a Pink Floyd and Foo fan and this is a good departure from both! Love it! Great beat! Good interpretation with an awesome influence!

  • your a fag

  • @georgew1100 well isnt that the point of a cover? to interpret others' songs in your own way? I love both versions...

  • @georgew1100 Actually riding the gravy train means catching a break (in this context, as a successful band) - With that being said, I agree with you. Pink Floyd's original was so mellow, this cover hurts my face.

  • @georgew1100: are you retarded?

  • a pocas bandas les permito versionar a los floyd. foo, go ahead.

  • I´m a Pink Floyd fan. I don´t like Foo fighters... and i think this a VERY GOOD VERSION.

  • This is amazing.

Funny that the only good music Foo Fighters make is a Pink Floyd cover ;P

Well, I guess it's hard to make a bad Pink Floyd cover... because you know it's PINK FLOYD .

  • its not a bad cover

  • This song sounds amazing in the car, it's mixed really nice. Awesome cover.

  • It's waaaaaay mean!

  • I love Pink Floyd. It's my favourite band. I would say: WTF??, but only if this cover was made by some other bands, maybe in rap or hip hop mood. But Foo Fighters? They are good, and I like them... Yep this cover is nice.

  • Good cover! I like it.

There's a different mood in here, tough :D Good Job Foo Fighters

  • Foo Fighters covered Pink Floyd. The high point in life has been reached, what do I do now?

  • this is sacrilege!!!!!!!!!

  • Taylor rules! He's fuckin amazing

  • This interpretation RAWKS!

  • totally like his voice better than dave grohls..

  • somehow surprising...

  • good cover, but like vereybbody said, pink floyd'S version is better. But this cover is nice!!

  • Holy crap. I LOVED IT. No one can do better a Pink Floyd song but Pink Floyd, anyway I'm in love with this version.

  • Original will always be better, but this is a good twist!

  • i love foo covers! they make the song there own but still manage to stay faithful to the original.

  • to uploader : rather than ranting all this b, about haters , foo fighters other covers and etc, I tell you what , shut up and HAVE A CIGAR !!!!

  • Primus definitely had a better cover.

  • its true that the original stays better, but its great how foo fighters can make a song from it which sounds just like them.

  • esto es una porkeria!!!!

POR Q DEMONIOS PINK FLOYD PRESTA SU MUSICA GRUPOS TAN MIERDAS COMO LO ESTA MAMADA DE GRUPO!!

  • As much as i enjoy this cover, why the fuck has this video got 70,000 more views then the actual pink floyd version?

Some people seem to choose to remain ignorant.

  • @FRAFPDD because Foo Fighters is more of the youtube generation, pink floyd not... I know it's a shame, but yeah...

  • this pretty damn good! Love Pink Floyd, love Foo Fighters, rock on!

  • floyd fighters

  • @jay3130 pink foo

  • @jay3130 Foo Floyd

  • @mrtonebone Pink Fighters!!!!

  • certain things u just cant replicate

  • This is fucken sick!

  • i miss pink floyd!

  • fooey + floyd=foyd.

  • WHO LOVES THE FLOYD ??? I just seeing floyd covers. this is cool. I'd say it's a dinger live

  • Not just a cover of a PF song but also a sampling from a JA song

  • Protip: Wall of self-defense-text will only bring more trolls.

  • best cover song I have heard in a long time. Foo Fighters are unlike any other band in the last 15 years.

  • @MEGtheLiar RHCP. They've been consistently genuine imo

  • this sux :(

  • Kick ass version. Love the original, love the primus version, love this version.

  • Primus sucks. But there version of this song rules!

  • @iryan5000

    haha of course primus sucks

  • which ones pink?

  • I like this a hell of a lot more then Pink Floyd s this is Very Dickie Peterson Blue Cheer like AWESOME.

  • This is terrible. The laid back vibe that Pink Floyd has on this song is what makes it. This version is too rushed and straightforward. I do like Taylor Hawkins voice though.

  • i love both versions. i remember the first time i heard the original pink floyd version on the radio. that was a good day.

  • taylor's voice is awesome

  • Comment removed

  • cigar of weed xD

  • it only makes sense that someone other than Dave sing this, since Roy Harper sang the original. great cover

  • THE best Pink cover ever.

Comfortably numb and goodbye blue sky were CRAP!

  • É um lixo!

  • Lixo!

  • Lixo!

  • bravi i foo fighters,mi piace molto la cover,ed è anche un buon modo per omaggiare i pink floyd!

  • taylor hawkins voice is amazing

  • trash

  • Far to heavy. The Foo fighters shouldn't do covers, they are just to.....to mediocre. They play their own generic heavy rock boredom, fair enough. But don't plague other songs with it! The greatness which is pink floyd does not deserve this. There is actually nothing good to say about this cover unfortunately. They didn't even attempt a decent guitar solo ending!

  • the original vocal artist on this track was Roy Harper, a folk singer. he was selected because roger Waters didnt have the sustain, and david Gilmour didnt have the range. He got barely anything for his eforts

  • @ozzietube61 Sorry, but you're wrong. Roy Harper was brought in because Roger strained his voice recording Shine On You Crazy Diamond (probably because he sucks as a vocalist) and David declined to sing. I don't know where you got the idea that David didn't have the range, even to this day he had more range than Roger ever did.

  • Taylor's voice is pretty damn good. I dig it.

  • Is it weird I thought the original version is awful? lol

  • It's actually pretty effing good!

  • 777beatlefan yes, except only "lucy in the sky with diamonds" cover by elton john)

  • is floyd with neil young playing the solo

  • I´absoltelly Pink Floyd fan ... but this version is wonderful,

  • This rocks so hard! \m/

  • Is this different than the version on the new LP, Medium Rare?

  • I mean...you can't expect the Foo's to make it exactly how Floyd made it...Pink Floyd is just pure perfection in every sense of that word.

Foo Fighters are pure energy...they did this they way, and it is ok!

  • of course the original is better 9 times out of 10 originals are better, but this is cover is nuts

  • pink floyd is like a band of gods to me and my favorit bad of all time and to see this cover? well ive seen alot of pbands blow pink floyd covers and this one i just love. its just great to see them put their own twist on it and not completely blow it up. good job

  • medium rare is different

  • yeah!! this version is different to the one on "Medium Rare" .. why's that ??

    - this version is better though

  • its wierd how this song sound totally different from the the one in the "Medium Rare album". i like this cover better then the one in Medium Rare

  • Why is the original so impossible to find on youtube?

  • @MrGuitaristMatt I don't know. I'll try to upload it since it's so hard to find.

  • you dont cover pink floyd songs you just dont do it

    cunts.

  • I fucking love Foo Fighters! They really can make stuff their own.. I also love pink floyd and this cover blew me away.. Excellent!

  • i'm a sucker for covers, this was awesome

  • FUCK THIS SHIT.

  • I'm a Pink Floyd fan and this cover blew me away! Really good and Hawking's singing fits in perfectly!

  • A great cover.

  • great cover, but the original is unbeatable.

  • awesome cover. guitar solo in the end could have been more melodic but whatevs....the heaviness of the chorus was perfect.

  • Love it =) thanks

  • great cover =)

  • @pulanumato hahaha, i think what you said is a giant piece of shit. poor deaf kid

  • @pulanumato Fuck you, man

  • @pulanumato HAHA xD! ! Shut The Fuck Up kid -_-

  • Really nice solo!

  • Wow. the person who uploaded this video has so much insight, he just owned all the pink floyd fan boys and haters out there lol

  • its okay but the original will allways be better in my opinion

  • @777beatlefan why is Pink floyd better then Foo fighters ? It's logical, dossn't even need an explanation.

Why does Metallica, System of a down, Foo fighters, Korn, Marilyn manson, scissor sisters, All Cover Pink Floyd, Why diddn't Pink floyd ever do a cover them self ? why diddn't The beatles make Covers ? why do people cover them instead ?

haha Blind people, Faceless Mass's you'r all naive and suckers for Cheap shit keep buying into mainstream^^

  • @mukkohaha What on earth are you talking about with that Faceless masses mainstream mumbo jumbo? And check your facts. Six of the 14 tracks on The Beatles first album, Please Please Me, were credited to other musicians, or covers (remakes, whatever) in a sense.

Anyways. Love the Floyd, like the Foo Fighters, sounds like they were havin' fun jam out a classic. Right on.

  • @777beatlefan Thats fckin obvious ...

  • Big Pink Floyd fan here... but this song is fucking awesome

Is that true that the guitarrist in this song is Brian May?

  • not bad but song's sound is too buzzy. At orginal i want to smoke a cigar but this version is feels me nerveous.

  • Big Pink Floyd fan here, not much into the foo fighters; As far as Floyd covers go I thought this was decent. I generally don't like many Floyd covers, and while I personally probably wouldn't buy this, I think it's cool that they added their own sound to it while still remaining decently faithful to the original. Thought the singer did a great job on it. Pretty good effort imo.

  • I have an image of my head now of Taylor becoming a front man for another awesome band like Grohl did :D and I LIKE THAT IMAGE!

  • This sucks.

  • thanks for the upload

  • awesome cover, i personally primus's version better though

  • Just heard that FF are releasing an album full of covers shortly after their new one... and after hearing this I CANT WAIT

  • The original is a masterpiece, but I still like the cover because it's got the Foo Fighters feel to it, which is cool enough in its own way.

  • The original is amazing and should be treated as such but lets just put this in perspective the Foo Fighters did a good job and i judge it not on how there cover compares to the original by Pink Floyd but by how it compares to other songs the Foo Fighters played and when you look at it like that you can see more clearly that its good

  • anyone in a band knows that if your going to do a cover especially a classic like this you don't do it exactly like the original. you do the song your way. first it should help not having haters judge you AS MUCH. and second your playing the song use your own sound. SCREW ALL YOU HATERS! and taylor hawkins sang perfectly.

  • @mcnutt6608 exactly, foo fighters make lots of cover, and they make it how they fuckin' want, and if u don't like it, they give a shit. great cover, so foos

  • Sucked.

  • Man if Dave sang this it would be considerably better.

  • I heard this before the original and i think the rule of what you heard first is better applies here... like how i heard raffertys baker street first then the foos cover. Rafferty won that by far

  • Turbojunk, Roger Waters didn't sing the original either. He was supposed to, however he was unable to sing it due to strained vocal cords. A non member of the band sang it, Roy Harper sang it for Pink Floyd.

  • Good cover! doesn't matter if original is better or not. The important is: this one is good! who said that cover must be better? it have just to be different I don't think we need to compare. Pink Floyd is good but Foo Fighters are also good. But different bands! And I think it's ok and interesting to listen differents versions of the same song.

  • I absolutely love this cover. I don't think anyone other than Roger Waters will ever sing it with as much scathing contempt as he did on WYWH, but this Foo's version is as a bloody good listen.

  • @TurbojunkCymru

Roger Waters didn't sing it nor did David Gilmour.

Roy Harper sang this song in studio with Pink Floyd
