Becoming a chii (Partizan of Ahl Beyti Rassoulou Allah, aswaws) means only that you prefered Islam, as left by Mouhamad, aswaws, and rejected Islam reformed by the Sahabas, like Abou Bekr, Omar, Othmane, Abou Houreyra, Mou3awiya, Aicha, and those who prefered LIFE and ruling the world over Islam.
I do agree with you. This sahaba things boggle my mind too. It doesn't make any sense to treat all of them as saints when we know some of the weren't. Even Khalid Al-Walid, the Muslim warrior had killed innocence and the prophet pbuh asked Allah for forgiveness and the prophet said he was not to blame for what Khalid did. This shows that the sahaba did some grave mistakes. I'm still a sunni and I believe that as long as I believe in Allah and Muhammad, and do good deeds, we should be fine.
