Isn't it a little strange that Alex has completely downplayed (and in this interview not mentioned at all) the charity aspect of the song and the fact that the high sales of his single are due to people buying multiple copies from different sources or different remixes? I guess it's a good way for him to get noticed by the right people, i.e. DJs at Radio 1. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if this was all a clever scheme Alex cooked up as a way to kick off his solo career.

Anyway the radios and stuff still aren't backing it after Christmas so even though this gave him more musical recognition, forever yours is still seen as a novelty charity song...I presume he didn't want it to be seen as just a charity single and that's why he downplayed it :)

I was merely stating the reason I thought he'd downplayed the charity thing as you obviously seemed confused as to why he'd done it, and the first part was on the basis that I was genuinely surprised at the fact you hadn't realised what he was doing. @rachelhenderson28 I'm not confused I was trying to be subtle rather than outright accuse him. He's released albums before & none were successful in the mainstream. This single has only made it big because people wanted to support World Vision not because 35k people believed the song was worth buying. However, in these interviews Alex is spinning it as if people just really liked the song and the sales are unexpected. It's underhanded, and no, the fact he's doing that is not obvious to everyone.
