  • Epic Romance Fail!

  • Awesome tune!!!!

  • I ve got this single in vinyl

  • I 'd agree this is a GREAT track from a great band.. what makes it so unique was

how L42 could be SO damn funky , and melodic, all at the same time- with brilliant production as well. This was a phenomenal album- not a duff track to be found-

incredibly consistent, top to bottom, yet a lot of variety in the tunes.

  • 7 people have never done overtime.

  • Amazing how through the course of the years they just kept getting better and better.

  • MIKE LINDUP FUCKING YES

  • Great track. Love it all - the chords and vocal harmonies are just perfect. Happy memories of my early teens.

  • 7 people hate music...

  • Pushing a girls head into your crutch is recommended but not when her mum is there...

  • @1959child I wish that was me!

  • DANG!!!!!!!!!!! (@ 1:38)

  • I'm a hard rock fan but damn, they could play. great harmonies. heaven in my hands my fav.

  • thunderthumbs ... Alan murphy died of aids not Jakko... RIP alan

  • I was into level 42 from the start after hearing "Love Games", saw them live many years ago, great band.

  • I used to work in that factory for a while making lampshades- sure wish Mark worked there too how great would that have been- i'd never have had a day off sick:)

And the white van was Mark's too but don't think he has it now.

Love this song, vid and album!

  • Jakko not jango my bad . ps. definitely a musicman on this track .

  • JANGO must be the worst football plyer on the planet ,! suppose he makes up 4 it in the holdsworth department store . great vox he's got though . i think they wrote this tune when mk was writing with rick astley , surely he;s got enough $ not to have to do that ? sorry rick astley was ,is and always will be lame .FACT . level my all time fav band ,without doubt.

  • wow

    Rick Astley?..

  • Tempo and percussion are remarkable--never got into this band back in 80's, 90's...my loss. Keyboards and back-up vocals complement perfectly.

  • damn... mark can sing while playing bass... AND he can run a metal lathe!! I wish I was so much of a man! LOL!

  • Don't f***k with Mark (don`t get him mad at you)...

  • because if you do he will slap you! :D

  • Hahaha!

  • Mark SLAP US!!!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!xD

  • cool song..one of my favs from mark and the boyzs~

  • ok when mark is in the car with the girl and he shoves her head down is he trying to hide her or "something else"?? one has to wonder! great song and great video :)

  • Well, I often thought this one over... I guess it`s "something else", hahaha....

  • haha good i'm glad i'm not the only one!

  • Classic taking the piss out of spending a few million on a video. NIce work boys...seriously,...it's hilariously Spinal Tap that Mark and the boys got to make a video this way...or maybe they had nothing to do with it. Still, great tune...hilariously bad video. I almost thought Mark was going to walk out of work with the older ladies!

  • How does Mark play those great bass lines and sing simultaneously? Talent + practice = superb.

  • This song was played on a five-string Status.

  • i love LOVE this song but goddamn this video made me laugh out loud quite a few times!

  • Great song , very interesting lyrics. Marks music man bass track, that stingray snap.

  • chupalo

  • I think people are a little sensitive sometimes...he was only joking :) I love level 42..great song..great album :)

  • It's a weak joke that Jerry Seinfiield might want to drop on his audience.:-)

  • i'm pretty sure every porno produced between 1980-1995 used level 42 music

  • How ironic that in your profile you say that you have been playing the bass 'Professionally' since you was aged 12 yet you make a crazy comment about Level 42's music sounding like porno music... All that proves is that you must have watched a hell of a lot of porn, therefore you are a wanker...! Level 42 are 1 of the greatest bands ever. Mark King is unbelievable but you would'nt know as you are too busy watching porn mr bass player !!!

  • it's a joke

i actually like level 42's music

    not dissin lol

  • Jeez, the guy was just joking!

Besides, you know it'd be tight to make sweet love to your gal to some Level 42.

  • ahahahahaaa!! gud one.

  • Yeeaaahhh!!!!!! :)))))))))))))))

  • LOL AHAHAHAHAHAH =D looked lots I guess!..?

  • That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.:-))

  • When I first bought the Guaranteed album and played this track I thought "dud". Hearing it now I can understand the point

The video is amusing but it's really meant as a way for hard working people to express the frustration they feel at the effect working necessarily long hours has on their relationships. That's quite a touchingly sincere heartache to express. Hats off to Level 42 for observation.

I don't recall any other groups doing this.

  • I went out with a lovely guy and Jakko 1:20 is his brother-in-law. He is a great bloke, soooo funny!!

  • Mark is such a dirty boy in this video, he should be spanked! Love it! Fantastic video.

  • Summer would not approve

  • OMG you took the words right out of my mouth! LOL

  • And dont we just love it, i could watch him over and over again!

  • IMHO the best song of Level 42...among wonderful songs of this group

  • Love this song.Thank you!

  • I'm totally jealous of the girl in this video...Mark King is hitting on her and looking totally hot! Geez what a lucky chick.

  • gret song!

    i love this video...

    thanks! n.n

  • Wonder if Man City will offer a few notes for the football talent of Mr. Jakko Jacszyk?

  • Thanks Pedros133 great video, my compliments to you for this sweet post

  • What a video:))

    Great all album:!

  • 0.38 mike looks cool with glasses^^

  • Does anyone know who the older lady on the right in the last part of the video where Mark King looks at them and his girl is walking out towards the street? She looks very familiar. Great song, great group.

  • Opening scene.. Mark King's pretending to work on some factory machine. Don't jeopardize those fingers!

  • Is it just me, or are You Tube videoa going slow these last few days?

No doubt the internet police trying to spy on my account (see the recent You Tube lawsuit story - Viacom v You Tube)!

  • sorry about that last rant peeps - all sorted now, blame a knackered old (3 yrs) Hell err Dell computer.

  • c c/d d/e

    not c /d /e-

  • This song has got a bit of the 80's touch...love it

  • kack

  • like your comment :p

  • we sing this while working sundays in the supermarket cafetiria ive been working at this over time

  • oh my god, i try to play 2 songs from level 42, guess what? same chords! this one's C-D-Em, i might be little wrong though...

  • nice and funky, pretty cool, any other songs from this album?

  • My fav L42 album by a long way

  • Proof that musicians are hopeless at football 02:16 haha...Manchester United are keeping their eye on u jakko !!!

1 of the best bands in the world in my opinion, been around for ages , adam + eve used to listen to em ! They are still touring and every live performance i see just gets better and better...Cant wait to see em in october now mike lindup is back..

    Crap actors tho :-)

  • Yup...I wish they would tour here in the states again. There is a whole generation here that has no idea who they are. They should have the opportunity to see what real musicians are like.

  • bringing me lots of memories when i was small kid

  • This was an elegant song, and the entire album was yards above what most of was coming out of Stateside pop/rock/R&B in 1991-92.

Sound-wise, it was also very much Gary Husband's album as much as Mark's (dig the drum sound and the songwriting on the album, partly Gary's).

I suppose some purists will never accept Gary as Phil's replacement. I'm very much a Gould fan and prefer him, but the drive Gary brought to the album and brings to their live sound is remarkable. He too is outstanding.

  • now mikes back will they place classic song live again

  • Level es de las mejores bandas de la historia en mi opinión, tiene una formula excelente!.

  • mental note: don't get mark mad at ya. i looks like he would be good at setting ya straight.

  • great song! I love when Mark King mouths "shut up" to the factory gossiping hags.

  • This is the band that kicks #@#!

  • i love this band soooo much ... they are so funky its untrue... watched em live loads of times..had a 45 minit chat with gary husband after the gig at lowrie centre manchester...he would,nt go away lol...luv em to bits!

  • Bright music by a great band!

  • Mark King is a natural in front of the camera. If he gave up music, he could have an acting career.

  • por siempre level 42

  • The best of British.Level 42 has proven that UK pop can still knock them out from time to time and come up trumps!

  • Ha ha ha....never seen that one before, Level 42 should have made more videos like this, they are actually not that bad actors....Mark King can be such a punk kid if he wants to LOL....great post thx =)

  • Great video. Thanks, I never knew they even made one for this track!

  • pure sonic the hedgehog music, i love it!

  • This band was not credited enough for their fantastic lyrics and muscal abilities. I wonder did they ever travel to America and how were they received?

  • i saw them in the late 80's in spokane washington....they were fabulous...and the crowd couldn't get enough...they were truly..and still are ahead of their time.

  • In total agreement there about them being ahead of their time. And from what I'm hearing on the grapevine they have regrouped and are touring and that they even plan to go to America or are already there. Whatever the plan is, I intend to go and see them live when I get the chance because from I have seen they have not lost their touch and are still going strong, not many artists today have that kind of staying power.

  • i heard the same thing..and i will definitely see them the next chance i get if they get here to the u.s...and when i get over to england..i will look them up to see if they are performing. if i hear anything on them coming to american...i'll let you know.

  • yes he was

  • Wasn't Allan Holdsworth in the band for this album?

  • Correct - Jakko joined for the tour, and appears on the album cover, but Allan's on the album.

The story I heard was that the band thought Allan wouldn't want to tour etc., because he already had a successful career in the fusion area, but he actually was interested.

  • Buenisimo el video y buenisima canción , lastima que la gente no entendiera este gran disco de level 42 ... "Guaranteed"

  • the video is very good

  • I saw Level 42 in Peterborough; had ticked #1 for the After-Show party - and met all the guys and got my programme autographed. Memories, memories, Mr King ... you were always my hero, and still are....

  • Jakko had a great personality for Level 42. I wish he would have stuck around.

  • Who is the guy who plays the guitar? I guess he replaces Boon. Is he also the guy that passed away dued to AIDS related illnesses?

  • actually the late Alan Murphy eventually came after Boon .. but he was the one that passed away from AIDS.. Jacko Jazyc is the one in the video and he came a bit after Alans passing .. Jacko is still alive and well and still making music :) ..

  • No that was the guitarist before the one here (Alan Murphy was his name, I think - he died of AIDS in 1989)

  • Listening to this song I can't for the life of me figure out why some hardcore fans diss Guaranteed. Oh man! I just noticed Gary in the jumpsuit. Very early Phil Gould!! I wonder if it was intentional...

  • Why...what did he do..? >_<

Anyhoo, band split up after Forever Now (around '94) and partly got back together in 2006 for the Retroglide album.

That serious face Mike puts up is pretty funny XD

  • what year did this band break up?

  • Love this song but i've never seen the video

  • I also like videos with a story, Mark looks great.......too bad Mark didnt get the girl, or is it? (I'm available.. lol, no really I am ;-)......great group, always a favorite of mine.

  • briliant video, extremely funny ! fantastic job .!

  • Oh dear! Great song by the legendary british pop / funk group. They influenced my life with Mark's bass playing and fantastic live shows, indeed!

  • "I been working on this overtime...whats been donei cant repair"preach brother preach.....

  • Hey Pedros, thanks for posting. The girl is my sister Sophie (I see my mum posted as well(Cigar5)). Great to see this again, cool times and life seemed a litle simpler in those days :) Cheers, Skiiiiiiiiiiii

  • Your welcome.

  • Thanks for sharing that video, Hav'nt seen that one before..Level 42 STILL rock.

  • The song's ok, but the video is really good, loved it.

  • The guys are hilarious in this video. Mike...lol. I wish Jakko was a "Permanent" member, but I guess those days are long gone. Thanks for posting this!

  • My favorite track on Guaranteed^^

  • It's my daughter, sophie, on the video, a great time for us all - thanks cigar5

  • i bet it was, just to meet all of level 42 is just a dream for me

  • like dinosaurs, good musicians and good music are extinct today...Thanks for sharing the vid!

  • I remember them shooting this video at a disused warehouse near Wandsworth as I used to live round the corner from it. Today the warehouse which is located on Merton Road is a branch of Access storage.

  • love this band. rock, funk,r&b, and pop all in one

  • Thanks for sharing, have seen this video a couple of times many years ago but not had it in my collection.

Have been a big Level 42 fan for over 20 years, saw them recently at Croydon, fantastic show as usual, was in the front row and at the end Mark handed me one of Gary's drumsticks.Mark King is just the best ever !!

  • I wasn't aware they were still performing...touring...I live in Toronto...does anyone know if they've been here recently or will be coming???

  • Quite enjoyed the fact that he played a Music Man on this record in places. Has a nice effect on the sound of his playing.

  • Your welcome.

  • I have been a fan since the very beginning and yet I had never seen this vid! It is truly fabulous.Yes it is Jakko on this one.The album this is from is superb and my favourite! Seen them 25 tmes or more and seeing them another three times very soon.Tour and album soon! Cannot wait.Even my children want to see them! thankyou so much for sharing your video!! Laura

  • excellent, thanks for sharing...level 42 greatest pop band ever! Their new album "Retroglide" comes out Sept 18th

  • mark could just make love to her with bass.

  • excellent song from a not so excellent album. going to see them next month, 12th time! great band, good vid, cheers ped.

  • White man's Funk at its Best! This was so Awesome.

  • As in your other Level 42 video posting, this isn't Allan Holdsworth in the video, and I am pretty sure he didn't play on this track.

  • Allan does play a few power chords on "Guaranteed", but I don't think he plays on this one. The album credits don't give specifics. The guitarist in the videos is called Jakko I think.

  • thanks for sharing:)

  • No, lo siento, pero no tengo videos del album "Forever Now". Es un hecho que de llegar a tener alguno de esa u otra era, lo posteare.
