Just started using Traktor Pro 2, controlling with Pioneer DDJ-T1.
I used vinyl for about a year (Numark TT-X USB decks with M3 Mixer) and have to admit I was sceptical at first about making the jump to digital, but I'm so glad I did.
There's nothing more satisfying than remixing tracks on the fly, improvising, looping, mixing, adding effects as you go along. So much fun, and so addictive.
Analogs are great, but the new generation of tools djs now have access to makes everything much more organized and connected. Yes it may be easier to SOME extent, however it doesn't mean some 14 year old kid could produce something that professionals could just by using these new tools. I would be amazed if they could even afford them. If you think using the "veteran" tools is so much better, go back to the '40s and get a pair of gramophones.
Anyone know where to get the sample sound he uses in the video at 2:46 - 2:56 named "Synth Oddi" ? Is that part of x1's samples I cannot find it in my traktor pro 2 software and i really want it
so you need a second x1 to control the sample decks rather than using a mouse? or is there mapping so you can use a single x1 to control sample decks as well..
guys i need a little help here i have two x1 controllers n traktor 2 i wanna use one x1 controller for deck A & B n i wanna use the other x1 controller for the sample deck n the loop recorder as the video shows is there some kinda mapping done for this or is it a defult setting done for the second x1 controller i am really confused can someone help me cheers ....
@MiKeY09936 I would recommend getting turntables and a mixer, as well as a Traktor soundcard, but if you want something made JUST by native intruments, get an s4, but prepare for a wave of hate, because veteran DJs hate newbies who use midi controllers.
@TheDJParadiso if the so called 'veteran dj's' hate it's because they are unable to move ahead, dj ing has long stopped about standing there like a knob mixing songs together , today you perform live using controllers and make the music as you go, even people that still use turntables use software. Turntables are on their way out completely. It's move ahead or get out of the game.

With this new technology people are now able to press a sync button and let the software do it for them. Veteran DJs feel cheated when a kid shows up to play with nothing but a $50 controller and auto syncs through a set. I use a midi now, but I learned on decks it has helped me a lot in the long run.

I think that if you are a real Dj and you have some self respect you will just ignore the sync button, just because traktor comes with that extra feature doesn't mean I have to use it. I am getting traktor and i will NEVER use that.
@douglasfx well preforming mixes on the fly extremely fast without having to pre set bpm or even mess-up sometimes cause of bpm is useful u still have to match up the beat. as well as you still need to know how to go from one track to another. this is use full when ur doing mixing with acapellas trust me. i am a real dj never used any sync before but this is worth wile just to pull of shit that i could never pull off and make the. croud crazy. real djing is about moving your crowd no mater what.
@DjRiches I understand your point and i totally agree but if i am going to mix tracks i don't need to use that option cause i know how to mix but if i am going to make live remixes i know this will be use full. I have never used traktor or serato before but this totally blew my mind. if you can mix then using it as a tool will help you and moving the crowd is what matters at the end..TRUE,but everybody should learn how to mix before they call themselves Dj's, but i respect your opinion :)
@douglasfx yeah for all the dj's that dont know how to do the basics then yeah they shuldent use that sync button but if they do yea. some times im tipsy and djing and i forget shit LOl and what i usaly forget is the bpm. so that would come in handy but more times im sober .
The DJ still has to make the action, make a music choice, select the tracks and must make the music sound good and make a lot of tricks. As you think a SL1200 is the only "real"DJ choice, you must have a problem with facing the future.
I personally have SL1210,s and Traktor control S4 and a Maschine. It's an addition for the DJ, not a simplification.
@JohnInSeitz I echo the comments of Raw055. I have been dj'ing long before dj software was around and this experience can only help, but teaches you one important thing - beat mixing is a time consuming task and requires constant focus. Taking this out of the equation means I can focus on loops, samples, 4 decks, efx, etc. This can only lead to more creative, diverse and ultimately more enjoyable sets. It's the shit.
why r u a dj? cus me personally,.. my number 1 goal isnt to go to a night club and bring home cash. my number one goal is to have fun and give the crowd a full dj , and good experience and im not gonna cut corners doing it soo.. idk wtf ur talking about cus i do it cus i love it. different dj programs can be good but im REALLLY tired of seeing all these dj's that can mix in 2 weeks cus they use traktor and they sync EVERYTHING. im 18, i still use cd's, and no wave read out either lol

I don't get this "wave form" visualization. I don't know about you, but I use my ears to listen to music, not my eyes. You are fooling yourself if you think visualization helps you. You are not listening and therefore you're putting out crap. Problem?
@luisdrum yes being able to use eyes and ears is definitely a disadvantage, i hate it when my eyes give my brain information, i mean serato have never actually sold a single copy of ssl because of it's huge visual feedback.
and good work NI, ur 'innovative' waveforms still aren't as good as serato's, also sampledeck<ableton integration.
tho i do concede it is cheaper for what you get, not that anyone pays for traktor anyway :P
i find it funny that the "revolutionary" and "innovative" features such as the sample player and the colour coded waveforms are all features serato has had for a long time

sure! you can use 4 decks, 2 decks and 2 sampler sections or 4 sampler sections...

i find it funny that the "revolutionary" and "innovative" features such as the sample player and the colour coded waveforms are all features serato has had for a long time

@joladehiti more over, the NS6, which you could use with traktor if you really wanted, and it is better built than the S4.
